TITLE: Red Eye
PAIRING: Clint/Natasha (although this is more early partnership/friendship than romance)
RATING: Teen
WARNINGS: None
SUMMARY: Newly-partnered agents Barton and Romanoff are sent undercover to investigate an allegation of fraud at the county fair.

The mission is a joke.

Well, more of a test than a joke, or at least Clint is pretty sure that’s the point. It could also be a punishment, he supposes, but regardless of what it is, he’s annoyed.

The person of interest is a middle-aged man named Mark Yazbeck whose sun-wrinkled skin reminds Clint of a crumpled up piece of paper. He’s the current owner of Yazbeck Amusements, a traveling carnival and midway company. A carny, as far as the public is concerned, but Clint can’t help viewing the commercialized rides, games, and food carts as something less than the authenticity he remembers from his own days with the circus. Regardless, Yazbeck and his show have become the latest suspects in a case of small scale identity fraud, which apparently now is S.H.I.E.L.D.’s problem. It’s admittedly deplorable, but also exactly the sort of thing local law enforcement or the FBI ought to be handling, Clint thinks, if Fury wasn’t in the market for a training exercise.

Author: Avenging Archer
Pairing/Characters: Clint/Natasha, the usual SHIELD and Marvel characters
Word Count: Novel length ongoing WIP. Estimate when complete 80K words
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Some violence as per fitting a spy story, profanity suited to an ex military Army Ranger, some sexual situations and innuendo. No gratuitous gore or porn, but this isn’t a children’s tale either.
Many thanks to Alpha Flyer for betaing the early chapters!

Summary: She'd had no idea that such a coincidental meeting would change her life so dramatically. He'd spared her life, giving her a second chance to find purpose and a way to balance her ledger. Their friendship? She didn't over analyze it. It didn't need defining. It was hers. Hers and his. That was all that mattered…until he was compromised and she came face to face with Loki and found herself unwittingly compromised as well. Black Widow/Hawkeye. Movieverse with a touch of comic canon per author's prerogative.

“Are those shots I’m hearing?” Coulson’s voice came over his comm.

“No, they’re firecrackers!” Clint barked as he rolled off of Natasha.

She glanced at him as if he were crazy, then registered to whom he was speaking and proceeded to snort with amusement. Clint shook his head and took a quick assessment of the situation.

He didn’t like what he concluded. She had rolled into a crouch behind a nearby pile of rock, her face an expressionless mask of calm despite the fact that they were trapped against a wall with an indeterminate number of enemies firing from the abandoned building and all they had for cover was some scattered rubble and rocks from upper sections of the wall that had fallen over the course of time.

Title: SUCKER
Author: [livejournal.com profile] rubyelf
Pairing/Characters: Clint,Natasha
Word Count: 1400
Rating: PG
Warnings: nonspecific implications of child abuse/violence, AU, alternate backstory for Natasha
Author’s Notes: This is the first thing I've posted to this community so if I did it wrong, please let me know. Clint and Natasha are both underage at the beginning of this story but the closest it gets to romance is someone gets a lollipop, so I think it should be OK.
Summary: Clint doesn't make promises very often. But he keeps them. Even to little red-headed girls he doesn't know.

TITLE: Flares
AUTHOR: [livejournal.com profile] enigma731
RATING: General Audiences
WARNINGS: None really, but there is discussion of canonical Barton family issues, so if that’s going to hit too close to home this time of year, you might want to skip this one.
SUMMARY: Clint disappears ten days before Christmas, as Tony’s robots are finishing off the mess from the unnecessarily large, raucous party he’s thrown.

Pairing/Characters: Harold Barton/Edith Barton, Barney Barton & Clint Barton, Clint Barton & Jacques Duquesne, Clint Barton & Buck Chisholm, various other characters from Carson's Carnival of Traveling Wonders
Word Count: 50,058
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Alcohol Abuse/Alcoholism, Emotional/Psychological Abuse, Canon-Typical Violence, Domestic Violence, Canonical Character Death
Summary: We all know Clint Barton. That Avenger who always has something funny to say, and who never misses a clue. Hawkeye, they call him. And for good reason. But, what we don't know is where he came from, how he became the marksman he is today. Where did it start? How did it happen? Who were the people who made him who he is?

the author wrote this for nanowrimo this year, and it's a really interesting take on Clint's formative years as seen through the eyes of the people around him

TITLE: Our Last Days
AUTHOR: [livejournal.com profile] enigma731
PAIRING: Clint Barton/Natasha Romanoff
RATING: General Audiences
WARNINGS: None
SUMMARY: The property looks mostly abandoned, the fields barren, save for occasional patches of lanky corn stalks, growing rebelliously toward the sky. A few yards away to her right is the skeleton of a rusted-out car, like a sun-bleached skull in the desert. But there’s something about the house--faded white, with a dramatically sloped roof and a long porch--that resonates in Natasha's bones, that undeniably belongs to Clint.

The bird is Clint’s version of an insurance policy.

Author: [livejournal.com profile] findthesea
Rating: PG/Teen
Word Count: ~14K
Warnings: none (very minor references to gunshot wounds/bleeding)
Pairing: Clint Barton/Natasha Romanov
Summary:
Clint purses his lips, walking to the back of the store. “You like history?”

“Not particularly,” she says carefully, dragging a finger across the shelves as she follows him. “But I would like to learn about it, I think.”

(aka the AU in which Clint is retired from S.H.I.E.L.D. and owns a used bookstore in Brooklyn, and Natasha takes the wrong direction on the subway, and as it turns out, there are a lot of secrets between people who run from their past lives.)

April 2006

Somewhere over Europe

"The Black Widow has been a very naughty spider over the past year."

Clint glanced up from his folder to look at Phil Coulson, whose lips quirked in a slight smile at his own joke, which for Coulson meant that they barely moved.

Clint smirked. He had never met anyone who could pull off expressionless as well as Phil. And it wasn't just his expression. Nothing seemed to phase the man. Ever. Even in the midst of a full out hand to hand fight, Coulson was all business.

And the man could kick ass, Clint knew that first hand, having had his own kicked a few times when he'd first come on board with S.H.I.E.L.D. and had the "honor" of having Phil Coulson assigned as his handler.

He'd been a cocky son of a bitch back then.

Author: scribble_myname
Pairing/Characters: Clint/Natasha
Word Count: 1317
Rating: Teen+
Warnings: Canon-Typical Violence, Off-Screen Torture/Abuse
Author’s Notes: Ambiguous 'verse. Inspired by the comics and movies and a whole lot of AU fanfic reading.
Summary: They haven’t really exchanged names. He’s Hawkeye and making a name for himself as a vigilante stopping robberies and underground lowlifes. She figures out quickly that is because he grew up among them and knows how and where they operate. She is… without a name. Nothing feels right to give him because whatever this is when they brush into each other, it’s genuine, and nothing about Natasha or Natalia or the Black Widow is genuine.

Title: "The Blanket"
Fandom: The Avengers
Pairing: Clint/Natasha
Characters: Clint Barton, Natasha Romanoff
Rating: PG
Length: ca. 800 words
Warnings: some language, mention of injuries
Summary: Prequel to "Breathe" – Natasha is hurt and Clint gives her something he once had…
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the story, though I would like to appreciate a Clint of my own, thank you!
Author's notes: Lots of love to my beta anuna_81 for pointing out what I could do to make this ficlet better :D

Written as a fill for crazy4orcas' prompt at the fluff micro promptathon at last Friday's ATTF :) The prompt was:
Clint thought it was just a weird quirk of hers, but everytime they've had to share a room he notices her fingering the blankets on the beds. The first time she ends up in medical and he sees her fingering the rather coarse blanket she's covered with, he thinks he gets it. He goes out and finds the most ridiculously soft blanket he can and gives it to her.

You can read it on AO3 or at my journal.
