Marvel Announces Full Phase 3 Slate at Special Event

No Black Widow movie, BUT there are "plans in which Black Widow is a key, key role" (per Kevin Feige).

“Barton and Romanoff never have an extraction plan.”  “Fury wanted a lie detector even Agent Romanoff couldn’t beat.”

Did you go EEEP!! the same way I did, when those throwaway lines got thrown away in Season One of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD?  And started to wonder whether we were going to see our assassins pop in on the show?   …  And (after spending a token few minutes being disappointed) felt your own creative gears start to crank up when they didn’t?  Well, here’s your chance to watch/make it happen!

SHIELD was/is a place where chances are pretty good that field agents would know one another.  Coulson is a given – we’ve seen him talking to both Clint and Natasha on screen.  And there's lots of fic involving him and our ship (or one of them ...) out there already. It’s the others I'd like to look at, or the group of them together.  Some thoughts:

-                Melinda May has been “in” for quite some time, but so has Clint (his service photo, which can be seen on one of the screens in “Avengers,” is dated 8/30/99). Do they have a history – as green recruits, partners, friends with benefits, colleagues, or did they get drunk at the SHIELD Christmas party and wake up in Bahrain? (Without prejudice to later relationships!)

-                Has Natasha trained with Ward, taught him what he knows, whupped him, maybe even noticed there was something not quite ... genuine with the guy?  Would Coulson ask her to interrogate him, after the fall of SHIELD?

-                What would happen if Natasha ran into Skye doing a hack job? Who learns from whom?

-                Did FitzSimmons design any of Clint’s arrow heads?  Are they starstruck by Hawkeye, or do they find designing his killware mildly distasteful?

-                Did Natasha ever take that lie detector test what's-his-face mentioned?

-                How do you think Clint would have gotten along with Victoria Hand, or John Garrett?

-                Would “Director” Coulson reach out to Clint and Natasha, now ensconced in Avengers Tower, to help him kick-start new!SHIELD?  Would Maria Hill act as liaison to make it happen?

-                Sitwell.  Go.

Give us your fics or fic snippets, meta, recs, self-recs, icons, idle thoughts! (No pro/anti-Ward wanking please – let’s leave that topic to tumblr…)

Things to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)

Hello, best bar in the world!

We're going to take things easy today and go a liiiiiittle bit off topic. That's right, it's time for... (drumroll please)...

ALL THE THINGS FRIDAY: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

This movie came out in US theaters last weekend, but I realize not everybody has had a chance to see it yet. For those of you who have, what are you thoughts? Loved it? Hated it? Wondered why the raccoon talked like a 1940s gangster?
Was Baby Dancing Groot not the greatest thing ever?

So come one, come all, come flail!

Please note that on this post all spoilers are fair game, so read the comments at your own risk! Also, if you haven't gotten your prompts in for the Promptathon, you might want to mosey over and do that, as we're shutting that post down very soon.

Things to remember:

Welcome to a requested special recs edtion of All The Things Friday! Buckle up, members of the bar, because for this ATTF only we're venturing out into the wider Marvel universe.

We're always happy to have Clint and Natasha recs here at [livejournal.com profile] be_compromised even for things that aren't necessarily Clint/Natasha, if they have a focus on at least one of them, or showcase them particularly well, or if there's a fantastic group thing, we love 'em. We even have tags for them! But sometimes we come across a group fic that isn't really about them at all, or a Kate as Hawkeye rec that we'd really like to share, or another awesome female character we think how great it is that we've found something that treats ladies well, or a story about how Thor isn't a moron he's just alien, or a character that isn't even part of the Avengers but the rec is just so, so good... Well now's your chance to share with the bar!

Guidelines

1. If it features characters from Marvel, you can rec it! Go!

2. I know this is business as usually for our bar, but considering the topic just to reiterate: absolutely no chacater bashing, ship wars, or rubbish like that. We're here to share the love. Sometimes fics have pairings that people don't like, or have other things that aren't a reader's cup of tea, but we're going outside of our common territory of Clint and Natasha here so there's likely to be something that isn't someone else's cup of tea. It there's something you don't like, no need to comment on it; move on. Sharing the love. Thank you :)

Hello lovely comm! I've been mulling this topic over for a few weeks now, and decided that on this wonderful long holiday weekend I would share my Clint/Natasha thinky-thoughts as they pertain to Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. Beware of spoilers for all episodes, including the most recent. I'm hoping to spur some discussion, some speculation... maybe inspire some fic... *looks hopeful*

Five thoughts to start us off... )

For those of you who weren't aware, the MediAvengers Mini-Bang story summaries will be opened for artists' claims after tomorrow!  :-)

You find details -- and I presume those summaries -- on the MediAvengers blog here.  Yours truly signed up in a fit of November madness (fool that I am ... that PLUS Secret Santa plus ....); don't know whether anyone else in the comm has?

Anyway, if you like doing art -- and if you're not too busy producing a fabulous December banner for this bar of bars -- you might want to have a look!

Marvel Comics Avengers Propaganda Posters

I love the retro/vintage look to these, plus the bonus of Black Widow and Hawkeye together! It's so hard to find Black Widow and/or Hawkeye merchandise (or at least it is for me).

Hey everyone! While this is an MCU-centric community, I know a lot of our members are also interested in the comics, so I thought I'd share this piece of news from New York Comic Con.

A Black Widow solo comic is coming soon!

The author is Nathan Edmondson, who I know little about, and the artist is Phil Noto. PHIL NOTO. I don't know if this will be the first cover or if it's just promo art, but check this out.

HOW GORGEOUS IS THAT.

More details will be announced later this weekend, but at least in terms of art, Natasha looks to be in good hands!

Lots of great information in this interview, especially at the end *hint*hint*

I'm sure you lovely people don't need to be reminded, but can we please use spoiler warnings and cuts around the comm for anything Iron Man 3 related, from fics/graphics/fanworks that include references to it to just chatting about it in threads, please and thank you :) (Also for anything to do with Thor 2 in case people are avoiding being spoiled by what's shown in the trailers, casting shoots, speculated about, etc.)

In the meantime, I declare this post a place for people who HAVE seen the film to squee and chat about it, to link to gifs and posts, to share meta, and to have fun without worrying about spoiling anyone :D

THIS POST IS A SPOILER ZONE, ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.

So based on this cover, the new Secret Avengers series may be very much RTYI:

Cover under the cut! )

I can't wait until February!!

I just noticed that Clint and Natasha currently have Santa hats on, squee!

*ahem*

Anyway... I posted information on the first issue of the new Hawkeye comic here and someone added posts on the sneak peeks for issues two and three.

Now, if you're like me, and you wanted to read them, but couldn't find them because they were sold out in your local comic book store, not to worry, because Marvel has compiled the first five issues of Hawkeye and the sixth issue of Young Avengers Presents into one volume: Hawkeye, Vol. 1: My Life as a Weapon (link goes to Amazon.com) and is available for preorder. It comes out March 26.

Chapters/Coles/Indigo also has their preorder page up here for the Canadian folk.

Have you heard about this? This January, HAWKEYE #7 will feature two stories following Clint Barton and Kate Bishop as they navigate the landscape of storm-ravaged New York and New Jersey with guest art from Steve Leiber and Jesse Hamm. The royalties go to the Red Cross. While I'm not a huge fan of how the Red Cross spends their money, I'm all about helping out.

And because I do love the covers from this series: Hawkeye #7 cover art

I was bored at work and paging through the new Romantic Times when I stumbled upon an article about a new Avengers novel coming out January 1st called New Avengers: Breakout by Alisa Kwitney.

Here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

Fantasy/romantic fiction/comics author Alisa Kwitney (A Flight of Angels, Moonburn) reveals the secret backstory of Avengers couple Hawkeye and the Black Widow.

Under secret orders to assassinate the Widow, the rough-edged marksman finds himself caught up in a violent prison break that releases some of the world’s most vicious and powerful criminals. Defying his superiors, Hawkeye joins forces with the sultry Russian spy - and with a mismatched group of personalities that include Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Luke Cage, Captain America and Iron Man. Unexpected betrayals and shocking revelations will lead the team from Manhattan’s top security Raft prison to the untamed jungle of the Savage Land in dramatically different take on Brian Michael Bendis’ blockbuster Avengers comics debut.

Learn the sizzling backstory of your favorite big-screen heroes in this adaptation, inspired by the best of page and screen!

I took pictures of the article, including an excerpt from the novel ... and I can't get livejournal to post them, so here some links to a site that actually does what it's supposed to do:
