Best thing to do for that is to put on your userpics page under each icon words to the effect 'please tell me if yours' or you don't know who it's by but are willing to credit. I think I have a few like that. It's one of the reasons I started adding my username to the file designation for my icons - it's difficult to keep track of where you get them all from!
