It's like anything, I believe, in that some people are good at the job and some people are bad at it, and some poeple are good in and of themselves and some people aren't. Unfortunately there are some jobs where if something goes wrong it's all over the news and everyone is up in arms about it, which, sure, bad things deserve to be outted. But we don't always get to hear the good things. Regardless of the people in the job, I think it's a difficult job and the people that have the guts to do it deserve respect for that.
My younger sister has Downs Syndrome, so I've met a fair few social workers and careers in our area. Some of them are good, some of them are bad, some of them just can't be bothered, some of them have things happening at home that distract them. They're all just people. But how many people are willing to do their jobs?
And just thinking of her brings tears to my eyes. :) I bet it does :D
