Howdy, y'all!  

One of the friendly neighborhood mods popping in to say that while it's only been just over two weeks, as of today we're up to 149 members and 180 people watching this comm, which is, quite frankly, awesome.  The response has been overwhelming and I know I have personally been enjoying the hell out of all the fics and recs and graphics and icons and discussion and everything that's been posted here.  I still have a stack of fic I'm working my way through and it's all just so darn good.  Please keep the recs and the posts coming.

Someone mentioned the other day about doing an updated welcome post, since our first one was back when we had a dozen or so members.  And a random spammish talking post is always fun, so let's do another.  Consider this meet and greet Part 2, and feel free to say hi or bring any questions or discussion or anything fannish to the table.  It's great to see all the participation over here.  **SLOWCLAP OF APPROVAL**

Also, I have just been wandering through your tumblr and your shawarma scene clip and photos are clearer than anything I've seen before and NATASHA HAS HER HAND ON CLINT'S LEG AND THEY ARE DOING A STARING THING AND *dies*.

Actually I think her hand is on her own knee, but she's kind of hunched over and it looks like it's on his in the picture. But she is giving him ONE HELL OF A STARE at the very beginning. Like seriously intense. Like I need to throw you against a wall and have my way with you RFN intense.

And he kind of looks at her and looks away? Like it's either 'not in front of this lot'/pining because he doesn't think she means it/stop checking to see how hurt I am 'cause it's turning me on and I'm trying to eat stupid shawarma... (Damn, I wish we'd had this scene at the cinema.)

She's giving him A LOOK at first and it looks like he's looking back (although you can't see his face), but then the mood kind of shifts and you can tell they're all trying to play it for comedy and then she just kind of spaces out and looks away and when he looks back over his shoulder towards the camera it looks like he's kind of spacing out too b/c they're all so freaking exhuasted after saving the world. So yeah. You get that moment of intensity at first and then it slides into comic genius (really everyone at the table, the expression-- it's just hysterical).

But before the funny kicks in-- there is a moment. Don't you doubt it. ;)

I haven't been in an active fandom in SO LONG and let me tell you, having fifty billion tabs of Clint/Natasha up all the time is the BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD. So much great fic THIS. :-)

I went and read about each of them on Wikipedia. (I'm a teacher, though - don't tell the media center specialist!) LOL

I love this 'ship, this comm and the people on it. So awesome! :D The last time I saw a fandom sprout so quickly was Spock/Uhura when the new Star Trek came out. They've hung on well and given that new Avengers universe movies will be released faster than Star Trek films, I'm feeling pretty good about the long-term success of this one. :D Woo-hoo!

Now if I only could get back into the groove of writing fics myself... Hmmm...

For comics!canon, the best place to start would probably be on wikipedia or on the marvel wikipedia. I think the thing that makes the comics so tricky is that there are so many different series with different storylines that are often getting rebooted and reimagined, so it's hard to reconcile all the backstory.

But I tend to agree with sugar_fey, that while the comics!canon informs the characterization, the movieverse is definitely going in its own direction. And I for one am pretty happy with that, especially as Hawkeye and Black Widow's comics!canon past isn't always that rosy.

We're so glad you're here! I kind of playing along the edges of Spock/Uhura, so I don't have too much firsthand knowledge, but that seems like a really active fandom-- it'd be awesome to have even a little of that level of activity. :)

Hi!

Um. Well, I went into The Avengers thinking it'd be an interesting movie (it's Joss Whedon!) and a nice way to spend Anzac Day, and it blew me away, and I have been wildly shipping Clint/Natasha since then. I am an avid reader of fic, and have been loving this comm. There is so much pretty.

Unfortunately, my whole "I will actually get study done because there's nothing on TV!" plan has been ruined. By The Avengers. I regret nothing (at least not yet).

I also really need to update my icons.

Howdy! I completely sympathize-- I went in expecting some Joss and a bit of pretty and I walked away with the SHIP THAT ATE MY BRAIN. But omg it has been so much fun. And everyone has been so great here! I've been blown away by the quality of all the fics and fanwork.
