Question For My Lovelies...

So I noticed the other day that another community did awards, like fanfic awards, and best art awards, and stuff like that. It seemed like a great way to celebrate some of the amazing stuff that's posted on this community. I was just curious if there's something similar here, and if not, was it something people would be interested in?

EDIT: Maybe we could do like an epic bookmark thing instead? Everyone goes through favorite fics till we have like the biggest rec list ever from every category, including art. Then it's not a competition?

This is my feeling re: newbie guides as well. If people go YOU MUST READ 'WE WERE EMERGENCIES' AND THIS META ABOUT ULTRA-MASCULINE AND ULTRA-FEMININE TROPES AND NATASHA MUST BE RED ROOM then that's....sending a message that you MUST like something, and you MUST read the characters one way, or else you aren't welcome.

And that'd be sad.

Yeah, but I don't think [livejournal.com profile] purely_distel means that. I think they're on about our lack of signposting for new people, something saying how inclusive we are maybe, which I can get. I forget that the comm has grown so big and how intimidating that can be O.O

I'm thinking that a sticky post at the top of the comm with some Here's some facts about the movie 'verse canon, here's some facts about the comic-book 'verse canon, here are some links to some of the good Friday Posts where we discuss a lot of stuff about how we see Clint and Natasha. Include a link directly to the tag page and the front page (with a prompt that says something like Please make sure to read the rules and check out our affiliates.

Now that you have done that use your knowledge of the various 'verses as much or little as you want, go forth and have fun. And be sure to join us in the Best Bar in the Universe.

It's giving them a bit of a grounding in 'verses they might not be familiar with, reminding them to check the rules and letting them know that they don't have to stick to canon at all. And to have fun.
