Promptathon 2013

Hello, lovely patrons of the bar! It is now the month of July. Do you know what that means? It’s time for:

The Good Ship C/N Promptathon
of Magic and Joy: Round 2

Are you excited? I know I am!

RULES ON POSTING SUBMISSIONS
(please read before you post! <3)

The Rules. Just follow these three easy steps!

1. Leave a Prompt.
Prompts can be anything--simple or elaborate, words or pictures, songs or poems, lyrics or phrases. Anything that, to you, inspires a C/N fanwork. Use your imagination. Go crazy. All we ask is that you place anything NSFW under a cut or link, use trigger warnings when appropriate, and place anything spoiler-y under a cut with a warning. If you’re posting large images, please be mindful of members with slower Internet connections and place the image under a cut or link. Also, try to be as specific as you can with your prompts--this is often very helpful to those creating the fanwork.

And leave as many prompts as you want. I’m serious. Keep coming back, y’all. We want all the prompts we can possibly get Also, be sure to leave each prompt as a separate comment.

2. Wait a week.
Keep leaving prompts and plan your fanworks! This is a time for celebration and creating all of the things.

3. Submit C/N fanwork like there is no tomorrow.
All submissions should either be posted here or linked to this post via a comment. We will make an official post about rules in the time leading up to submissions. Please read it before posting, as responsible partying is to be encouraged at all times.

Timeline

Prompting starts today, July 7th (or 8th if you’re in my part of the world ;) ), and will remain open until July 17th. Submissions will start on July 17th, and will remain open until August 1.

What we hope to accomplish with all this promptathon-iness:

  • A chance to get in the game. Been wanting to jump into the C/N fanwork scene but not sure where to start? Now’s the time. There’s no length requirement on the works submitted, you can focus on drabbles and vidlets and short and sweet projects (or do longer more epic stuff if that strikes your fancy as well).  It’s really entirely up to you. We’re just hoping to provide a fun, no-pressure environment.

  • Meet new and awesome people. Newbie or lurker? Here is the perfect opportunity to say hello!

  • Ship like you’ve never shipped before.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the mod team.

Have fun, everyone!

Aw, that was so sweet!

FIC: 1812 Quincey (G, No warnings)

[identity profile] alphaflyer.livejournal.com 2013-07-19 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Title: 1812 Nostrand
Author: [livejournal.com profile] alphaflyer
Rating: General
Characters/Pairings: Clint/Natasha, Tony Stark, Kate Bishop
Disclaimer: I don't own the Avengers and I had no idea where in Bed-Stuy the current Hawkguy comics take place. Nostrand looks like as good a place as any until [livejournal.com profile] franztastisch pointed out he lived at Quincey and Tompkins, so I quickly renamed the fic ...
Warnings: None
Summary: Clint forgets to tell Natasha something important. Inspired in part by [livejournal.com profile] frea_o's wonderful fill for one of my own prompts.

Yay for adorable in-love-with-each-other assassins!

FIC: Secrets, and the Lack Thereof, rated G, no warnings

First foray into C/N and Avengers in general. Would have put it all here but it was just a hair over the character limit.

Headphones. The most useful invention in the last half-century.

Other agents like to scoff at him when he says this, but Clint knows, hunkered down on an eighty hour stakeout, two day shifts of squinting, perched on a blade-thin rooftop corner waiting for his prey to glide carelessly close to the windowpanes – and through it all his headphones, blasting Vivaldi, Mozart. Bach and Brahms.

That is too funny, that we'd both hit on Tchaikovsky in our fills ... same end, quite different ways to get there ... :-)

Nicely done!

“Admit it,” Darcy had said while she was doing her hair and makeup just before the show. “You want to tap that.”

Natasha didn't need Darcy to tell her she wanted to f*** the new guy (as a good portion of the crew probably wanted to do the same thing). She definitely wanted to tap that. Repeatedly, if possible. If his looks were anything to go by, Clint Barton wanted do the same to her was making Natasha's toes tingle.

“It doesn't mean I should,” Natasha said, trying to reduce the traces of Darcy's blush brush with her fingertips. Her hair needed a few more touches, she still had to get dressed and walk out to meet the crowd. (And Barton would be there, sitting high above the crowd, between the light bars and reflectors.)

“You should stop messing up my good work,” Darcy swatted Natasha's hands away. “Just let me finish this and enjoy the view in the meantime?”

snippet:
Clint gave chase and made sure he had a hand on one of his knives incase the opportunity presented itself. But she was quick and soon reached the rooftop, as did Clint. Seeing that she was backed into a corner, there was no where else to run or any nearby buildings to escape to and he highly doubted she could swim. Slowing to a stop, he pulled out his bow and aimed for the woman- letting the arrow fly.

Natasha pulled out her specialty made fan at the same time he was arming himself and whipped it open, pulling it towards her and let the metal sections deflect the arrow away from her. Smirking she said, “You missed.”

“I never miss.” Clint shot back, letting his bow drop and going for his knife. He hesitated a second, debating if he should wait, and seeing movement realized that she'd seen his hesitation and acted on it. Gripping the knife, he braced himself and blocked her knife, both pushing off each other and slowly circling each other.

Fic: Rip Apart the World (Teen, no warnings)

[identity profile] lar_laughs.livejournal.com 2013-07-20 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Title: Rip Apart the World
Word Count: 4119
Warnings: None
Rating: Teen and Up

Author's Note: This little bit of hurt/comfort is something I started in February for the promptathon. For [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81’s prompt: She would rip the world apart for him. And for [livejournal.com profile] inkvoices, who mentioned Florence in her comments. The first part, especially, owes a lot to Ceremonials. But then it got stuck in EDIT land (thanks to all the work that my beta, [livejournal.com profile] hufflepuffsneak, put into kicking this into shape!) where I was too lazy to get it out. Along comes another promptathon and I realize that I need to quit being lazy and get this thing out there! So this is also for [livejournal.com profile] sgteam14283’s prompt: Okay? Okay. (from The Fault in Our Stars by the wonderful John Green).

Summary: There are some things that are meant to stay private and unmentioned. There are other things that come out in a tense situation and change everything. Thankfully, Clint's there to help pick up pieces that this current op chips off Natasha, regardless of what comes out of her mouth.

Snippet:
There was a moment when everything was at peace. A breeze blew across Natasha’s face, making the ends of her hair dance along her cheekbones and neck. She could smell fresh cut grass and water, as if they were sitting on the porch, enjoying a lovely Saturday afternoon. A snatch of song played in her mind, reminding her of the music Clint had played on his guitar last night as she was struggling to find sleep.

Then the moment was gone. The breeze was from the quinjet engine that was struggling to take off with only one working engine. The men who’d started this, who thought they’d had the upper hand or were stark-raving mad to attempt something so stupid in the first place, would try to take off now that they knew their targets wouldn’t be so easily killed. Half of the bad guys were still on the ground instead of safe in the plane, still shooting wildly around, hitting anything and everything in an attempt to find Natasha’s hiding spot.

One down. One to go.

Ooh, I like the dishes. Maybe they will. I was thinking those dishes from the commercials with the supermodel pratfalls, but only because I think that commercial is hilarious. Luckily, I have not seen that episode of TNG, so I can still find a coffeemaker named Bebe amusing. ;)

Snippet:
Clint chuckled a little and turned Natasha around, so that he could have a better line on their target, “You should see me tango.” The smile faded as he noticed their target moving towards them. “He’s approaching, how should we play this?”

Natasha looked at the man and saw that his interest was still wavering. But it seemed that luck was with them because the band finished the piece they’d been playing and started a tango. “It seems I’m about to see how well you tango.”

Fic: New Rhythm (Teen and Up, some swearing)

[identity profile] lar_laughs.livejournal.com 2013-07-21 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I should also point out that there is what I feel to be time-appropriate misogynistic undertones in parts of this story but that doesn't mean that both Natasha and Maria aren't BAMF in their own right. I tried to make that abundantly clear in the storyline.

Title: New Rhythm

The joint was packed with people by the time Natasha made her first appearance. Even though the lights were low, she still sparkled. It nearly took Clint’s breath away every time he saw her. Look, don’t touch, he reminded himself each and every time they were this close. Just because he couldn’t have her (not that this dame was the sort of girl that could be had), didn’t mean that he didn’t want to try.

Across the dimly lit, smoky room, Clint could make out his contact. He sighed as he pretended he couldn’t see Maria Hill’s piercing glance. What was it with his life and the sort of dames that could clock him a good one without breaking a nail? He was surrounded by them. All of them were the Look, don’t touch sort. When this sting was over, he was going to get himself somewhere with a lot of sun and girls who wore very little as they served him pretty drinks with fruit wedged on the side of the glass.

“Hey, sailor.” The throaty voice coming from his right startled him enough that he nearly broke cover and pulled the tiny derringer from the pocket of his coat. It was only there for emergencies, Fury had reminded him as he’s put it safely in place. Everyone knew Clint couldn’t shoot his way out of a paper bag. Not with that sort of weapon. His hands already ached for his bow and arrows, not something that went well with this disguise.

Oh, crap. Apparently I never actually sent the reply I wrote to this?

Any kind of graphics would be wonderful - it's turning into this whole sprawling 'verse. (I'm probably tackling the sequel that will involve the rest of the characters for NaNoWriMo in November.) I would love graphics to kind of dress up the fics and use on AO3 and my fic journal to kind of highlight it.
