Hi All, welcome to the rec party! Like a promptathon but with recs. Everyone is invited - you don't need a DW account or to be a member of the comm to join in. It's time to revisit your bookmarks, discover new and old favourites, and share some fandom fun!


How This Works

1) Comment to this post with a rec request. This can be for something specific, a trope, a pairing, Natasha-centric in advance of the movie, comics, MCU, and for fic, fanvids, fan mixes, absolutely anything you like!

Please post an individual comment per request, but feel free to comment as many times as you want!

We ask that you keep requests Marvel, but all characters, pairings, etc welcome. Where you don't specifically mention characters other than Clint and/or Natasha though it'll be assumed that's the focus you would like.

2) Reply to comments with recs. These can be new, old, self recs, all kinds of media, whatever you think the requester would like based on their ask. Something can be rec-ed more than once if it suits more than one request.

We ask that you keep recs Marvel. Where requests don't specifically mention other characters or pairings, assume the ask is for something that includes Clint and/or Natasha.

2020 is the year we finally get a Black Widow movie (!!!), plus The Eternals, there's a new Hawkeye comic out this week (Hawkeye: Freefall) that's getting cracking reviews, and that's just in the Marvel corner of the big wide world. Hi All,

The latest is that we're doing an Avengers Endgame Fix-it Fest and you can sign up on AO3 until 10 June 7am GMT!

(When that wraps up we'll sail into the big summer promptathon...)

We've also been reviving the ATTFs since Endgame has given our corner of the fandom a boost. Look out for a post about recs coming this Friday! And if you would like to host or suggest ideas for ATTFs you can do that here! Reminder that All The Things Fridays aren't just for Fridays - unless there's some kind of challenge deadline they run all weekend, or longer until we run out of steam :)

Plus don't forget you don't have to wait until an ATTF if you have things relevant to our interests to share with the comm - you can post your fics, recs, headcannons, pretty pictures, fan vids, and ANYTHING with Clint and/or Natasha in it both to this DW comm and to our comm tumblr. (That means anything with Clint/Natasha or both of them in any combination, or with either of them in regardless of who they're paired with, or gen things.)

In the wider world, they appear to be filming the Black Widow movie (it'll take me until I'm actually sat in the cinema and the title credits appear for me to believe it *grins*), Spider-Man: Far From Home is due out in July, and author sign ups have just closed for Marvel Big Bang 2019 but artist sign ups are still open until September.

First things first:  IT'S FRIDAY!!!  *ahem*

Today, I thought, we could talk about things that might have happened before our great ship yacht sailed, and how/whether/if the existence of previous partners might feature in the lives of our favourite assassins, and how.

We know from comics canon (possibly, but not definitively modified in the MCU by Agents of SHIELD) that Clint was married to Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird.  How does he react when they run into each other at SHIELD?  How do they get along?  Would she and Natasha be friends?  ("So Bobbi tells me that I should just give up now on you ever putting the cap back on the toothpaste.  Lost cause, she says."  "When did you talk to her??  You guys doing some kind of all-girl conspiracy thing??"  "She also says you like to be scratched behind the ear, like a cat."  "That's total bullshit.  She's having you ...  hmmmm... do that again?")

We also understand from comics canon that Natasha and The Winter Soldier may, at some point, been together.  What was that like?  How, if true, would it impact on Steve's search, and Natasha's willingness to help, beyond handing him the file with a warning? Would Clint be nervous what might happen when Barnes turns up?

Then, there are of course other options.  My burgeoning head canon has Clint having had a fling with Melinda May at some point (strictly friends with benefits, although igrockspock turned that into a former marriage, in her wonderful story Two Truths and One Lie.)  We know May has Nat on speed dial, so what do they text each other about that won't pass the Bechdel test??

1. Leave a Prompt.
Prompts can be anything--simple or elaborate, words or pictures, songs or poems, lyrics or phrases. Anything that, to you, inspires a C/N fanwork. Use your imagination. Go WILD. All we ask is that you place anything NSFW under a cut or link, use trigger warnings when appropriate, and place anything spoiler-y under a cut with a warning. As this is a Clint/Natasha promptathon, your prompts and fanworks can include other characters, but the central focus must be on Clint and/or Natasha. If you’re posting large images, please be mindful of members with slower Internet connections and place the image under a cut or link.

And leave as many prompts as you want. I’m serious. Keep coming back, y’all. We want all the prompts we can possibly get Also, be sure to leave each prompt as a separate comment.

2. Wait a week.
Keep leaving prompts and plan your fanworks! This is a time for celebration and creating all of the things. Work hard, shippers.

Timeline

Prompting starts today, August 2^nd and will remain open until August 9^th. Submissions will start on August 16^th, and will remain open until August 31^st.  It is, in fact, A WHOLE MONTH OF PROMPTATHON.

If you can’t complete your fanwork by August 31^st, that’s okay. You’re still welcome to post your fanwork to the community! However, the promptathon masterlist will only include fanworks from August 16-31.

What we hope to accomplish with all this promptathon-iness:

• A chance to get in the game. Been wanting to jump into the C/N fanwork scene but not sure where to start? Now’s the time. There’s no length requirement on the works submitted, you can focus on drabbles and vidlets and short and sweet projects (or do longer more epic stuff if that strikes your fancy as well).  It’s really entirely up to you. We’re just hoping to provide a fun, no-pressure environment. If all you want to do is post prompts and share in the squee, that’s fine too!

• Meet new and awesome people. Newbie or lurker? Here is the perfect opportunity to say hello!

• Ship like you’ve never shipped before.
