REMIX FIC: "Shards" (T, no warnings apply)

Title: Shards
Author: [livejournal.com profile] alphaflyer
Remix Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] i_llbedammned
Pairing(s):  Clint/Natasha
Rating:  T
Warnings:  none apply;
Fic I've Chosen To Remix: "Innocence"
Summary:  Natasha, picking up the pieces.

In [livejournal.com profile] i_llbedammned's story "Innocence" (link above), Natasha reflects on her blood-stained past and on the role Clint plays in her present. It ends with Natasha recalling, “… the times when they just met in his shitty apartment and ate dinner together. The pain would just melt away into warmth. Maybe this was what innocence felt like.” I liked the idea of Clint’s place providing Natasha with an emotional anchor, and decided to explore this in the context of the events of CA:TWS.

This story is a companion piece to "Safe House" and "Recurve". Note that this apartment is not the Hawkguy place in Brooklyn, but rather my head canon one from my story “The Skies Over Manhattan”, which I started to write long before I ever picked up a comic.

Thanks are due to [livejournal.com profile] inkvoices and [livejournal.com profile] franztastisch for early brainstorming and cheerleading, and to Franzi for the beta. Any mistakes that have crept in since are my own.  Thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] sugar_fey for organizing the exchange!

Just lovely.

As usual, your writing just leaves me wanting more. It's amazing the way you wove Clint into the story without him ever even being there. And I never got tired of Natasha being (for most of the story) the only character. Another wildly successful creation!

You're so welcome. And, no, I didn't jump in on this opportunity. Time was an issue, but mostly I have been very uninspired lately. I didn't want to risk dropping the creative ball on someone's story. All the stories have been amazing so far and I feel like I made the right call (as I'm sitting here struggling mightily with my Big Bang idea...).

Let me assure you -- the grass is much greener on your side of the fence! :) I'm trying to get blood from a stone over here. The half-assed idea rolling around in my brain is not evolving the way these things have done in the past. Time to close the laptop and step away. Again... Good luck to you!
