ATTF: Team Delta Assemble!

So it’s that time of year when there just seems like so much to do, am I right? There’s that Secret Santa deadline on December 6th (there’s a submission post and email coming soon), time is fast running out for those doing NaNoWriMo, there the other fics and creative works – all the unfinished ones, and the in progress ones, and the ones that you really wanted to finish by the end of 2015 which is, argh, only a month away – and then there’s all the holiday preparations and shopping…and work/school, whoops, can’t forget about that ;)

Which means it’s that time of year when we could all do with some cheerleading, hugs, and encouragement.

Reply to this post with something you’d like encouragement on. If it’s your Secret Santa, tell us how that’s going, if you need a beta, if you need someone to hash ideas out with, or just someone to stand at the finish line waving like mad. (Remember Secret Santa is anonymous, but feel free to continue chats in more detail by PM etc.) Tell us how crazy your NaNoWriMo novel has gotten and if you need some even more crazy ideas to get it done. Post a bit of a stubborn work in progress. Ask for holiday gift ideas. Ask for a group hug.

‘Cause we’re here to help each other out! Let’s wrangle plots, offer beta help, cheerlead each other on, group hug, post drabbles of encouragement and pretty pictures of Assassins telling each other that WE CAN DO IT.

Because you can. Because this is the best bar!

*pats you on the head* it's okay to not finish everything on a list! Do what needs to be done first (or even things you don't want to do to get them over with) so you can get to the good stuff as a reward/encouragement to finish other things up first!

For me, I found that posting a WIP made me MORE inclined to write. I get anxiety about that stuff (I'm currently trying to hold myself BACK from my most recent WIP so I don't update too quickly because all I wanna do is work on it) but posting a WIP for me was kind of helpful actually. And I know gecko has a WIP that she's updating more slowly, so she might be able to offer some insight. IN THE MEANTIME <3 *all the hugs* and patting on the head.

Aw, I have needed people to tell me lots of times this year that it's okay if I can't actually do all the things I'd wanted to. It's okay, honest! Prioritizing is definitely a good idea and maybe organizing things like that will help fics to be done in more timely fashion so you can move on to other things?

It's okay! *epic head patting, with a nice latte on the side* I think I'm learning that taking on too many things at once is a problem, in which case dropping one or two of them is actually problem solving.

As for the WIP issue, I have one that's been on hold for 2.5 years (I still get PMs about it ...) but I stopped feeling guilty about it. The voices just aren't calling me right now. And that's okay.

Yo I FEEL you. I remember way back when I started on ff.net and scoffed at those writers complaining about their folders of WIPs, and swore to myself I'd never write a multi-chap. Fast forward to my multiple files of multiple files of unfinished works. We're all with you. Sometimes I open one and write a few paragraphs, and I even finished two oldies in the past few months, so you never know. Relax, let the muse flow, it'll work out okay.

You can totally prioritize and also scrape, we all have idea that we really WANT to do at the time and then it never happens. Concentrate on what's got the best chance to be done. /nod

And hey, I may not be the best person to ask about multichapters since I only have one up too, but, like. As long as you're steadily working on it and can be sure it WILL be finished, I figure that's okay, right? Yep. I'd say it is.

For the first time in, like, ever, I'm almost done with Xmas shopping and it's not even December. I suspect it's possession or something. This ain't right.
