HELLO EVERYONE IN THIS WONDERFUL BAR. Today we are four! How brilliant is that?! Four years, 927 members, and 37,719 comments – and more by the time this post goes live, I’m sure. That’s an incredible amount of promptathons, exchanges, challenges, discussions, and a HUGE outpouring of creativity, not to mention how positive, welcoming, friendly, and just plain awesome you all are.

So to celebrate, in true be_compromised fashion, we’re going to have ourselves a good old-fashioned getting-to-know-you community friending party post! Chat to new and old community friends, add each other as LJ friends if you like or don’t, no pressure, just PARTY. Free drinks at the bar, grab yourselves a slice of cake, and for goodness’ sake be careful with the pass the parcel, someone probably put weaponry in there.

What things do you love to see in fics/creative works; what’re a few of your favourite things?AUs, I love AUs so much it's ridiculous. I also love friendship fic as much as I love shipfic (but oh, how I love the shipfic) and I have a soft spot for the two of them finding their own quiet, happy spaces in the world.

What have they teamed up for/how on earth did this team come about? My brain went totally blank on this. It is still early in the morning and I reserve the right to come back and answer later.

Give us 3 sentences or a teaser of something creative, fic or otherwise, that you’re working on: She sits at the water's edge, her bare feet skimming the surface and occasionally dipping in to disrupt what looks like peace. It feels good against her skin and her boy itches to push itself off the side of the little dock and dive straight in. She holds herself back, though, there are too many people here and she knows that her human skin wouldn't last a moment with the water all around her.

Besides, there's a target watching, it wouldn't do to have him see her true form until she can ensure he couldn't speak of it later.

Not for the first time, Clint wondered why the hell was he living with not one, but two women. Oh, right. Because even though he knew Natasha loved him, she had fallen head over heals for Bobbi too, even after she'd satisfied her lust for the other woman. And because despite how he felt about Natasha, he was still a little in love with Bobbi himself. And Bobbi? Well, fuck if he knew, but he kinda liked to believe she loved the two of them, too.

I bounce around a lot on things. Agents of SHIELD, probably. I've never let go of West Wing, and can be fairly easily turned to viewing/reading anything Buffy or Leverage related. I dabble in a LOT of things.

I'm currently reading Saint Maizie (http://www.amazon.com/Saint-Mazie-Novel-Jami-Attenberg/dp/1455599891) and it's fascinating and heartbreaking and lovely.

Ayup. Saw it last Sunday. And only once, because it's not playing in our local theater and I can't afford to go to Hannover more than once for one movie, sigh.

I love creativity, and the willingless to play with the source canon, tumble it over and see how it falls back together.

From What If We Were Symphonies, Clint/Nat/Bucky in which Clint is asexual:

She finds him sitting in the living room the next morning, socked feet propped up against the coffee table, failing his way through a video game. He's terrible at those, but he loves playing. When she first moved in, Natasha thought that was a bit out of character; Clint's usually in it to win it. That kind of stubbornness and endurance is what made him who he is today, and it took her awhile to understand that sometimes, when it doesn't matter and there are no stakes, he just needs to allow himself to be awful at this one thing.

When he notices her in the doorway, he turns his head and smiles. The TV beeps in alarm; that moment of divided attention cost his figure in the game its life. He sets the controller down, leaning back, puts his head on her shoulder once she's sat next to him.

“I've been thinking about your idea,” Natasha says. She holds herself still in order to notice whether he shifts or tenses, any sign that the topic makes him uncomfortable, but he just looks up, quirks an eyebrow, and she continues. “I could say I'm not tempted, but that'd be a lie, and I don't lie to you.”

She calls America a lot these days. And whatever, she was worried. Then Natasha just...turned up - Kate thinks maybe she has some kind of checking on Clint system that pinged - and she called Bobbi and Carol for backup when shit was starting to look bad, and Maria to cover for them all being busy. She's still not sure how the Parker kid got involved, but she thinks maybe him and his Aunt live in Clint's building and he muttered something about being a witness; America keeps threatening to adopt him.

I read in a lot of fandoms, but tend to only write in Avengers these days. And I fail at keeping up with tv shows, but I do love Agent Carter, Agents of SHIELD, The Walking Dead... Most recently I've hunted down fanfic for The Martian - loved both the book and the film - and I'm sure the new X Men film will send me back to Westchester.

MCU, comics, or all the things? MCU and comics and Avengers Assemble cartoon on Disney HD (yes, my husband and I eat Sunday dinner in front of the tv watching Marvel cartoons -- you have to grow older, but you don't have to "grow up")

Have you seen Captain America: Civil War yet? (If yes how many times, if no when are you getting to see it?) Yes, in a jam packed theater on Thursday night. Great crowd, very much fun, fabulous film.

When it comes to our two favourite assassins do you have them camping out at the farm, by a river in Egypt, living in an alternate universe anyway, or some other camp entirely? I have many acres along that river in Egypt and I rent space in several alternate universes. I've heard rumors of a farm, but I don't believe everything I hear.

What things do you love to see in fics/creative works; what’re a few of your favourite things? I admit it -- I love romance and deep relationships. Some folks around these parts are masters at writing romantic assassins and it just works so well. I also love garden variety fluff. I love reading it and it seems to be the only fic I can write. It used to upset me that I couldn't write a deep, meaningful fic. I'm over that now (mostly).

What have they teamed up for/how on earth did this team come about? I'd love to see a mission to rescue FitzSimmons undertaken by Hunter and Bobbi that fails miserably and have Clint and Nat show up to try to save the day. In the end, though, it's May for the win. Oh, the Hunter/Barton snark! It would be legendary.

I also have a life-sized Iron Man bust. Seriously. (Disclaimer: for those who don't know, my husband and I own a comic book store -- so I get to admire and play with lots of bright, shiny fannish things.)

Heres a few Sentences from my AU in which Princess Leia, Named Leia Skywalker here....switches Roles with Luke and is the Chosen one:

“Do you think I am nervous about that?” Leia lied. She knew how nervous Han was. The stakes were higher for him. If he was found, he would be be immediately taken to execution. Leia thought saying she was fearful would escalate Han’s nerves. “I am sitting on your lap and I am pretty sure it's not your gun that’s poking against my back.”

Han’s cheeks turned red, which seemed clearly visible in the dim red light of the room.

What things do you love to see in fics/creative works; what’re a few of your favourite things?I really love AUs! I also really appreciate a good dose of angst - and, of course, backstory.

What should a new friend know about you/your LJ and/or what are you looking for in an LJ/online friend?Um. I never finish writing anything? I might scream about a fic idea for hours and either a) forget about it or b) write 300 words and then dump it. I'm (mostly) a multishipper, unless it's one of my OTPs of OTPs, and I love love love rarepairs. Everyone should love rarepairs. Uhum I don't really use LJ at all xD I made a LJ account for this community, actually! As for what I'm looking for in a friend, just someone to talk to :)

Have you seen Captain America: Civil War yet? (If yes how many times, if no when are you getting to see it?) Yes! Saw it at 1 am and then played hooky from work to recover.

What things do you love to see in fics/creative works; what’re a few of your favourite things? Rom coms, give me all the rom com tropes, with lots of snark and team as family and believable action.

Give us 3 sentences or a teaser of something creative, fic or otherwise, that you’re working on: Right now the only thing I'm working on is a Steve/Maria sequel to my Clintasha private investigator AU, so I guess I'll share some of that:

“He’s such a sweet boy,” the old woman said pitifully, peering over her half-moon reading glasses. “Never did anyone harm in his life: he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body.”

The human body had 206 bones: Maria figured at least one of them had to be a little mean-spirited.

What merchandise do you wish existed, or the favourite fan thing you own? I have this awesome shirt I got at Chicago Comic Con last year that's from the Black Widow School for Assassins. It's totally badass, but I can't wear it to work (I'm a teacher) because it has guns on it :(

Some other camp entirely. Probably one of Natasha's many safe houses around the world, because every good spy has several different bolt holes to choose from.


What things do you love to see in fics/creative works; what’re a few of your favourite things?
I have a competency kink. It's why I love these two so much, they're both very good at what they do. I've always liked espionage stories, clever caper type movies (Thomas Crown Affair, Oceans Eleven, The Italian Job, etc.), and comic book action (because nobody ever really dies in the comics!).

I've been a Star Wars fan since 1977, but not very active in the fandom. And a Star Trek fan since Next Generation (dues paying member of Starfleet for almost a decade there...). I fell hard for Pacific Rim, but wow, the fandom went off in a different direction from my interests, so now I just look at pretty pictures on Tumblr. I don't have nearly as much time to play in fandom as I'd like. But that's life.

Sadly I'm currently doing a lot of work reading. Management and computer books, trying to get up to speed on my new job, which I just started a month ago.

What should a new friend know about you/your LJ and/or what are you looking for in an LJ/online friend?
I write about anything and everything, and probably not as much "fandom" stuff as some people. I have everything in one journal, so it's me, reenacting, fandom, costuming, and my random brain all in one place. Most of my posts are public (except work stuff) so if you're curious, go read a bit and see if any of it looks interesting to you. I like to receive comments, and I'll comment in return, because what's the point of being friends if we never talk to each other?
