On May 6, 2012, when this bar was opened, we had 4 (and yes, those four consisted of your beloved mods who saw a little film called Avengers and had some feelings and just wanted a place to find some fic and geek out.)
So, in honor of this momentous occasion, I hereby declare it to be Friday one day early. Hi! I'm from Texas, work in a bookstore, am awake most of the night, spend an insane amount of time reading or watching scifi/fantasy, fanfiction, and the occasional graphic novel. I love the Avengers, 80's New Wave (music of my youth!), and sleeping in.
And, Woman, I fucking love Jeremy fucking Renner *gigglesnort*
Also, you are TOO RIGHT! This bar is a font of awesomeness such as LJ has NEVER SEEN BEFORE!

I'm Australian, so your being awake most of the night possibly explains how we're talking right now :) I'm still feeling my way in fandom, I've only been round these parts a couple of months, but I've been loving all kinds of shows and shipping in isolation for lot longer than that. Pilots (BSG Starbuck/Apollo) trauma brought me here, now I stay for the fangirl good times. And the pretty. And I JUST saw Bourne Legacy, and now I fucking love Jeremy Fucking Renner even more.

Australians and Texans have a lot in common, I think! - people always expect exaggerated accents, funny hats, and that we've all got longhorns/kangaroos in our backyards! ( I think the stuff about innate friendliness and an appreciation of the wide open horizon is kinda possibly true, in a general way. Let's just say there are an awful lot of very independent people wearing either boots or flipflops around these parts ;D )
I've been mostly lurking in Supernatural fandom for several years, but I loved the Avengers (and the cast!) SO MUCH, I've been hanging 'round these parts just ~marinating~ in the fabulousness of the Avenger fangirls! AND the JRenner gifs!
ahem - I may have forgotten to warn for the general slashiness of parts of my journal, since I basically ship ALL the ships in Avengers fandom. They are just too fantastic for me to limit myself *is greedy fangirl* I had basically forgotten that warning for that is a thing that is a thing for those new in fandom - I hope that's not too upsetting?

heee - so true. Depending on the part of the country, definitely plenty of boots here too. And flipflops everywhere, altho of course for us, they're thongs. I love vernacular variation. :) And I think you're right about the wide open horizons (and also big blue skies :) ) - they're a state of mind as much as an environment.

And the dumb thing is, everytime someone says to me "do you want to be friends" I'm all "YAY! Someone thinks I look cool/seem interesting/am nice/whatever!" Why doesn't it occur to me that they might feel the same way if I asked them?
