ATTF: what's your profile? (aka serious, fun and silly personality tests)

Hello dearest bar! It's that time of the week! Are you ready to have some fun here? Today we should discuss (and if you choose, do) some personality tests. You know, those quizzy type of things that usually tell you what kind of bookshelf you are (messy, fancy, pretty... okay, I'm kidding), or give you some kind of profile, telling you about your most important personality traits? So here's what we can do:

1. I have a couple of fun links to quizzes and tests you can fill out, report here and tell everyone what kind of results you got, if you're surprised or not surprised at all

2. discuss and imagine how this would go with Clint and Natasha - every organization like SHIELD has psych evals. What do you think how that works at SHIELD? What kind of profile would Clint get? Is Natasha able to cheat on her psych evals? Is there some kind of running joke, for example, a competition who can give most outlandish answers to intern psychologists and give them a scare (this totally should happen in fic). Do agents try to find out about their results? Do you imagine Clint, Nat, Avengers, or other characters from MCU/Marvel taking one of those Hogwarts house tetsts and then freaking over the results?

3. have fun and get to know each other better, discuss everything and anything

Anyway, the whole point of it all is to have fun, so here we go.

1. Myers-Briggs personality test - this is a serious one, and it takes a little bit of time to fill out, but usually gives pretty good insight into personality traits.

2. the four temperaments test - somewhat simpler, it gives you a basic idea of your personality type.

3. Hogwarts house sorting test - what it says on the lid, it sorts you into one of 4 Hogwarts houses from harry Potter universe. It's a fun thing to do if you're a fan. (Also, can someone fill this one out as Clint or Natasha? That would be fun).

4. The Golden Compass Daemon test - again, based on a book - Phillip Pullman's trilogy His Dark Materials - discover what kind of animal your daemon would be :)

Things to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)

Well, this is way outside of my area of expertise and it's possible that was just a very poor word choice. When I think of a sociopath, though, I picture someone charming and charismatic who manipulates situations to get what they want (boardroom or bedroom) and doesn't take feelings or consequences into account. Granted, the worst of those aspects were mostly the "old" Tony and a helpless (dying) Tony. And, as I said before, a very poor word selection may be to blame.

Oh please don't be scared! I'm sorry if I come across as harsh. I think media has cheapened some terms and words - sociopath among them, and psychopath even more. Along with skewed portrayal of mental issues, media has made a mess of things, so I try to keep things at least bit precise.

Tony is a manipulator and you describe him well here, very accurately. If he were emotionally cold, and all this you pointed out, he'd fall into psychopath category. They're controlling, try to have everything their own way, don't fear the consequences, lack empathy, and manipulate people according to their interests. A sociopath, or someone who has antisocial personality disorder disregards or violates the rights of others. It goes hand in hand with aggressive behavior and no conscience. To put it simply, a violent criminal? So that's why I reacted at the word, because to me it carries very specific meaning, and it's usually used for all kinds of things that don't have much in common with the thing it really describes.

Ok, this is fascinating -- and way too deep for a Friday night! I'd love to blame the media for my faux pas, but I was probably taught that distinction in a psychology course at some point. I must've skipped that day. (Who knew it would come back to bite me?) And to further show my lack of understanding, I would have considered a psychopath more violent (generally speaking) than a sociopath and that does not seem to be the case based on your explanation. So, thank you for explaining all that. Something tells me you could see right through Barton's and Romanoff's attempts to mess with your analysis.

And apologies are due to the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist Tony Stark. You are so NOT a sociopath. However, you still got taken to task by the best in the business: Natasha Romanoff. Good luck trying to get one over on her!

What I love is how Tony knew something was off (but of course didn't realize she was a spy sent for SHIELD). And also got a great shot off at her after he found out.
