Movieverse, Comicverse, or both? mostly MCU, the occasional foray into comics (snippets of back story, some ficlets)

How many times have you seen Avengers? What about Winter Soldier?: Avengers? Man, we're in the double digits here. Starting with 2 ... (I think). My daughter commented the other day how I make everyone who comes to stay at our house watch it, if they haven't already ... Plus, it's on my lap top and I spend a lot of time on planes! As for CA:TWS, three times. And counting!

What brings you to the Clint/Natasha ship?: life-damaged, government-sanctioned assassins with smart mouths and fabulous chemistry. What's not to love?

Any other ships/fandoms you want to share?: I also write Star Trek:Voyager (mostly Tom Paris/B'Elanna Torres, but occasionally Paris/Janeway -- more plot driven, less 'shippy'. When there is a relationship focus in those stories, it tends to be on the "relating" part, not the "shipping" part.

What about C/N do you like best?: The trust, respect, mutual reliance and equality in their relationship. The raw chemistry. Clint's arms. The glint in Natasha's eyes when she's talking to him. Did I mention Clint's arms?

Clint lives on top of a Chinese takeout. He could (and does, when home) eat Chinese food, like, ALL THE TIME. Also, he reads a lot on boring stakeouts, because he's painfully aware of his lack of education and all those PhD types around him. Natasha is still learning how to do things for fun, rather than for a purpose.

Come Near (http://archiveofourown.org/works/1014611), by topaz is my favourite after-New York fic. It deals with both Clint and Natasha's PTSD issues in a smart and adult manner, plus they finally get together.
What should a potential new friend know about you/your LJ and/or what are you looking for in an LJ friend?:My favourite LJ friends are the ones who make me think thinky thoughts about food, writing, fandom, and occasionally the relation of the latter to the Real World, especially the one I work in (international security). I also like having the sense that you have a life outside fandom, and to get a sense of that. I've met the most interesting people through fandom!!


Myself, I don't just post fannish things, but some personal stuff -- albeit within limits, to preserve some semblance of internet anonymity and job security. Brace yourself for picspam from various trips! I am a failure at technology, so expect no cool gifs or things like that -- those love to steal collect from people far more competent than myself.

Share your favorite head canon: movieverse Clint still cooks breakfast shirtless and drinks straight from the coffeepot like comicverse Clint does.

Rec a fic, graphic, vid, meta, etc. and explain why you liked it.: Oh, so many. Failsafe by inkvoices just hits me straight in the feels. The death wish, the saving each other. It's amazing and realistic, all things considered. Now, I'm of the mind that Clint could certainly have killed her. Loki might be able to survive an exploding arrow but Natasha? So this makes total sense here. She WANTED him to shoot her, and he didn't. And then the parallels with Loki later. I could go on. I love this fic. And a gazillion others, but I'll stick to the one.

What should a potential new friend know about you/your LJ and/or what are you looking for in an LJ friend?: I'm an intermittent fanficcer. I'm half in original fiction and half in fanfiction, so reading my LJ can be boring if you don't like my original fiction. But I fangirl pretty hard on Tumblr, and I do fangirl here as well.

Friending policy?: If I like your posts, I friend you. If I know you well, I group you in close friends and you see the occasional personal locked post.

Anything else you want to add?: Not off the top of my head.

I find their lethalness to be fascinating, especially because it's very much just a part of their lives, mixed in with all the normal stuff Interesting. I have a thing for urban fantasy and magical realism because of the juxtaposition and interweaving of reality and 'the odd'. Never transcribed that to Clint and Natasha before though.

Movieverse, Comicverse, or both? Both. Been watching along with the movies since IM2, but the whole thing only recently became a main fandom for me, after I started in on the comics too.

How many times have you seen Avengers? What about Winter Soldier?: Avengers, hmm, four times I think? And Winter Soldier only once, sadly, since the dubbing is subpar and I don't have a cinema close that shows the original version. /sob/ So excessive rewatches will have to wait until after the DVD release.

What brings you to the Clint/Natasha ship?: Equal partners, morally compromised, and a relationship that's deep and undeniable no matter whether you view it as romantic or platonic. These two just mean the world to each other, on every level. IDK, I JUST LOVE THEM? XD

Any other ships/fandoms you want to share?: Clint/Kate in the comics (yoooo, multishipper here). In other fandoms, Mako/Raleigh from Pacific Rim and Duke/Audrey from Haven. And even though I'm mostly out of the SPN fandom, I still consider myself a Dean/Castiel shipper.

What about C/N do you like best?: Like I said, they're equals. There's no condescending bullshit, he's not treating her any differently because she's a woman. Also, the depth of their trust in each other, and how well they know one another.

Rec a fic, graphic, vid, meta, etc. and explain why you liked it.: Once Was Lost by sugar_fey -- I'm completely terrible about writing up recs, but it just fits the version I have of MCU Clint/Nat I have in my own head to a T, and the progression and pacing is perfect.

But I do read my flist regularly, and try to connect with my flisters, and except the other party to make the same effort.

What brings you to the Clint/Natasha ship?: The chemistry from them on screen but also the friendship that's become something far deeper. I like the balance and give and take with them.

Any other ships/fandoms you want to share?: PHILINDA! I am so hard core with that for Agents of SHIELD it's probably not even funny. They're my two biggest for the MCU. Oh and Pepper/Tony because Pepper is amazing and I like this version of Tony

Woof. Um, I'm a photographer, writer, small press publisher, and occasional filmmaker. I write about anything and everything and post the occasional NSFW picture of beautiful women. I fell across the Clint/Natasha ships I was finding some Thor/Jane fics and I totally fell in love with it.

Avengers: uncountable. Winter Soldier: 1. Movie tickets cost money!
What brings you to the Clint/Natasha ship?:
The mystery of it. In their few short scenes together, they seem to know each other perfectly, but technically we don't know if they're even in a relationship. And I love the mutuality of it -- in Avengers, Clint is the one who's been through something horrible and needs comforting, but we know enough about Nat's past to know she needs someone to lean on too.
Any other ships/fandoms you want to share?:
I am pretty multi-fannish. At the moment, MCU and Agents of SHIELD have most of my attention, but if it contains an ensemble cast and even vague hints of sci-fi, I probably like it.

My version of how Nat came to SHIELD was that she just stopped fighting, told Clint she was done, and said he could kill her. Of course, he was never going to kill anyone who wouldn't fight back, so he brought her in instead. Maybe she was playing him, or maybe she wasn't. Nobody's ever going to know, but the important thing to Clint is that she stayed.

One of the best explorations of Clint and Natasha's odd and off-kilter relationships I can remember reading. This story is absolutely drenched in atmosphere, and it feels so perfectly *them.*
What should a potential new friend know about you/your LJ and/or what are you looking for in an LJ friend?:
My LJ is first and foremost about celebrating awesome ladies in fandom. I don't think awesome has to mean the same thing as perfect, or that women have to be action heroines to deserve celebration. I love read and writing about real women and all their flaws and glories. Content-wise, my journal is about 60/40 fannish/personal.
Friending policy?:
I'm pretty open so long as you put long posts behind cuts. I would love to meet people who regularly rec stories.
Anything else you want to add?: I'm going to Nepal this summer, so my journal might temporarily become a travelogue.

Movieverse, Comicverse, or both? Started with the movieverse, graduated to both. Once I discovered that Marvel offered digital comics, it all went downhill from there. =D

How many times have you seen Avengers? What about Winter Soldier?: Avengers, twice in theatres, and countless times more after that. Winter Soldier, three times at present count. =)

What brings you to the Clint/Natasha ship?: Initially, it was the understated sizzle that Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johanasson had together in the Avengers - that deep, quiet understanding of each other that they really didn't need a lot of words to convey exactly what they meant. I distinctly remembering asking my friend (who is a big Marvel fan) if Hawkeye and Black Widow were a couple and when she told me that they were indeed together at some point in the comics I was like "SOLD!"

Any other ships/fandoms you want to share?: I fully admit to shipping Bucky/Natasha after reading the comics (OMG THE FEELS) but Clint/Natasha is definitely my Marvel OTP. I used to wander around in the Doctor Who fandom (Nine/Rose, Ten/Rose) and various other fandoms back in the day. I tend to drift from one to the other after several years or so.

What about C/N do you like best?: The camaraderie and general badassery. Because assassins. =D

Most of what I do post now is stuff about the comics I'm reading, and I do ramble about life and work from time to time. I'm a zookeeper, so expect lots of babble about animals on a regular basis. My animals are my furry, feathery, and scaly babies. =D

How many times have you seen Avengers? What about Winter Soldier?: Avengers: lost count; Cap2: twice

What brings you to the Clint/Natasha ship?: More like who and the twisting path I took: Stan Lee and his contemporaries were visionaries for creating these characters in the first place; George Lucas opened the sci-fi world to me at the age of 8; Chris Carter brought a previously unknown dramatic/comedic brilliance to my life; and Joss Whedon is simply a genius. I had been hooked on X Files MSR fan fic back in the day (see what I did there?) and hadn't even realized how the "genre" had exploded over the years. Then Iron Man happened and Pepperony took over my life. I rediscovered fan fic in a huge (and perhaps unhealthy) way. After watching The Avengers and knowing the Black Widow/Hawkeye connection from the comics, I was/am obsessed with all things Clintasha. The fact that so many others feel in love with these characters the way I did was surprising and so welcome.

Any other ships/fandoms you want to share?: As mentioned above there's Tony/Pepper and Mulder/Scully

What about C/N do you like best?: Their unspoken bond -- it can be anything you want it to be.

Share your favorite head canon: Depends on the day, but I love the thought of them being on insane SHIELD missions (without an extraction plan) and the way they work together, recover together, and don't act on their feelings. Until they do.

Rec a fic, graphic, vid, meta, etc. and explain why you liked it.: Any story from TortiQuercu on ff.net -- especially "The Demon They Threw to the Wolves." The character dialogue is spot-on and the scenery descriptions are amazing. You can almost smell the marketplace!

What should a potential new friend know about you/your LJ and/or what are you looking for in an LJ friend?: I would love more LJ friends. I don't post very often and what I do post is probably pretty boring. But, more friends to chat with, that could improve. *hint hint*

I loved Hawkeye in West Coast Avengers (and kinda shipped him with Spider-Woman at the time), but didn't have an extensive enough collection of Avengers or Daredevil to read much about Natasha. My tastes in comics back when I read them tended toward the X-Verse (ironic now since the X-movies don't interest me much, while the Avengers movies are eating me up from within).

How many times have you seen Avengers? What about Winter Soldier?:

Avengers, 5 or 6 times and I have the dvd; Winter Soldier, once.

What brings you to the Clint/Natasha ship?:

I don't remember! I think I read some fic at random and just became a little obsessed for a while. Also, Clint resting his leg on Natasha's char in that credits tag. It really is the little things....

Any other ships/fandoms you want to share?:

A lot of fandoms, oy. But most recently I'm into Sherlock, Elementary, Broadchurch, Haven, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. big time.

What about C/N do you like best?:

I like everything everyone else here has already mentioned, and I also adore that they're not super-powered but they're still heroes. (I know, in the comics Natasha is a little enhanced by the Super Soldier Serum, but so far MCU hasn't gone that route.) I tend to gravitate toward members of teams who would be considered "normal" in comparison to everyone else. Like, in Gargoyles, I could eat up stories involving just Matt and Elisa fighting crime. Or Amy and Rory being domestic together in DW.

Share your favorite head canon:
Clint fell madly in love with Natasha before he had to make the call on whether to assassinate her or bring her in, and that's one of the main reasons (in addition to him seeing something good in her, feeling compassion, etc.) he did what he did.

The Woman in the Crosshairs by frea_0 because it hits my kink for unlikely characters secretly being wildly successful authors, not to mention my other kink for character A seeing herself through the eyes of someone who loves her. Also, the fangirl in the bookshop. Just, yes to everything in this fic.

What should a potential new friend know about you/your LJ and/or what are you looking for in an LJ friend?:
I try to post a few times a week and maintain a healthy balance between the personal and the fannish. Fannish talk is a healthy balance of the thinky and the squeeful. In LJ friends, I just love sharing the love and excitement without any drama (what is the point of a ship war, again?)--also, I feed on others' creativity and love sharing ideas and celebrating stuff.

Uhhh...Avengers, I've literally lost count. So, yes. As for Winter Soldier, 4 LEGAL times in theatres. And some other times after that. :)

Oh god, they're like, the epitome of what I look for in an OTP. Damaged, beautiful, angry, debt-ridden people with dark pasts who have such a love for each other that they would do anything for each other. Actually, when I saw Avengers for the first time (I went in not really into anything) they were who I fixated on. I was literally sold from the catwalk fight, turned to my friend and said, "new favorites."
Any other ships/fandoms you want to share?:
I'm a huge multi-shipper when it comes to Marvel - Tony/Pepper, Steve/Nat (but more friendship than relationship), Bucky/Nat (comics, mostly). Also my "stands the test of time and love you until I die" ship is Sawyer and Juliet from Lost. They were basically what my life was all about before Clintasha came along. ;) And also, Mulder and Scully, my first and foremost OTP.

How many times have you seen Avengers? What about Winter Soldier?: I don't know how many times I've seen the first one. I haven't seen the second one yet because I am afraid of movie theaters.

What brings you to the Clint/Natasha ship?: Really, I love the entire team, and especially Clint, and I would (and do) ship him with almost anybody, but the relationship between Clint and Natasha has such history and they know each other so well that it puts them at a level of intimacy none of the other team members are at.

Any other ships/fandoms you want to share?: I used to write a lot of LoTR stuff, but that fandom has become very, very quiet and I can't get into stuff from the Hobbit.

What about C/N do you like best?: Like I said, I think I like the intimacy of their relationship, whether it's purely friendship or physically intimate. They know things about each other that no one else knows and let the other one know things they don't let other people know.

Share your favorite head canon: Hmmm. Clint and Natasha on a mission gone bad and hiding out somewhere together, maybe with some hurt/comfort (I'm a sucker for hurt/comfort).

Movieverse, Comicverse, or both? Both, really. Comics-verse going way way back, but I love how they're weaving lots of different arcs together to make the MCU.

How many times have you seen Avengers? What about Winter Soldier?: I don't have any idea how many times I've watched Avengers, but I've only seen WS once (life is a little crazy right now.)

What brings you to the Clint/Natasha ship?: In the comics-verse, Clint still believes in Natasha even when they know she started off manipulating him for her own purposes and then she leaves the Red Room because he believed in her and she couldn't let him down. It's all very melodramatic and Silver Age, but it's hard to top that. :D

Any other ships/fandoms you want to share?: I'm working my way through writing/shipping Clint with a wide variety of Avengers (though /Darcy and /Coulson are in the lead at the moment.) In other fandoms, I'm watching Arrow and OUAT along with AOS. I still drift around SPN and Hawaii Five-0, and I'm game for most of Renner's other roles, too.

What about C/N do you like best?: The trust and the determination to be there for each other. And the snark. :D

Outside of my tech job, I read and cook and travel a bit, so that always shows up. I try to rec things that I've read and loved in whatever fandom catches my eye. That's about it--oh, and cosplay for cons. Steampunk & whatever my kids want to do.
