RULES ON POSTING SUBMISSIONS
(please read before you post! <3)


The Rules. Just follow these three easy steps!

1. Leave a Prompt.
Prompts can be anything--simple or elaborate, words or pictures, songs or poems, lyrics or phrases. Anything that, to you, inspires a C/N fanwork. Use your imagination. Go WILD. All we ask is that you place anything NSFW under a cut or link, use trigger warnings when appropriate, and place anything spoiler-y under a cut with a warning. As this is a Clint/Natasha promptathon, your prompts and fanworks can include other characters, but the central focus must be on Clint and/or Natasha. If you’re posting large images, please be mindful of members with slower Internet connections and place the image under a cut or link.

And leave as many prompts as you want. I’m serious. Keep coming back, y’all. We want all the prompts we can possibly get Also, be sure to leave each prompt as a separate comment.

2. Wait a week.
Keep leaving prompts and plan your fanworks! This is a time for celebration and creating all of the things. Work hard, shippers.

3. Submit C/N fanwork like there is no tomorrow.
All submissions should either be posted here or linked to this post via a comment. We will make an official post about rules in the time leading up to submissions. Please read it before posting, as responsible partying is to be encouraged at all times.

Timeline

Prompting starts today, August 2^nd and will remain open until August 9^th. Submissions will start on August 16^th, and will remain open until August 31^st.  It is, in fact, A WHOLE MONTH OF PROMPTATHON.

If you can’t complete your fanwork by August 31^st, that’s okay. You’re still welcome to post your fanwork to the community! However, the promptathon masterlist will only include fanworks from August 16-31.

What we hope to accomplish with all this promptathon-iness:

• A chance to get in the game. Been wanting to jump into the C/N fanwork scene but not sure where to start? Now’s the time. There’s no length requirement on the works submitted, you can focus on drabbles and vidlets and short and sweet projects (or do longer more epic stuff if that strikes your fancy as well).  It’s really entirely up to you. We’re just hoping to provide a fun, no-pressure environment. If all you want to do is post prompts and share in the squee, that’s fine too!

• Meet new and awesome people. Newbie or lurker? Here is the perfect opportunity to say hello!

• Ship like you’ve never shipped before.

SHIELD was formed to protect against the supernatural. The Great Strangeness began in the wild places and is slowly spreading across the globe, leaving people changed in its wake, or at least those who survive as villages become forests and creatures destroy lives. Humans flock to the cities, populations becoming concentrated, like gathering around campfires in the dark.

Clint has arrows dipped in holy water. Natasha has silver bullets. And one of them has a secret.

I saw Great Strangeness and "changed" and I thought... FOX and the Gone-Away World. :P

It is entirely possible that this ws an influence *grins* although I was thinking more fairytale/supernatural, maybe Hinterland comics, than FOX. But hey, feel free to go that route!

I would never in a million years write Gone-Away World inspired fanfic because I would never be able to do it justice.

Ninjas! It was the moment right at the end where all the ninja-ness paid off and I just laughed for the joy of it coming together.

But it's also just his words. He's like Daivd Mitchell, he just has this way with words that can't be copied. And OMG new David Mitchell coming out ON MY BIRTHDAY hell yeah. :D

Fic Series: In Wild Places (M, choose not to warn)

Haven't finished the third fic, which is specifically inspired by this, but I sort of went with a series?

Excerpt:

He walks the dusty road at the edge of a wilderness with arrows on his back. The holy water evaporates off of them in a faint hiss audible to the ears of monsters. He comes to a stop beside a patch of color, a woman sitting, teeth clenched around her canteen, her hair a riot of red curls.

She drops the canteen into the dust beside her and squints up at this intense, quiet man, sharp like an arrow in the dark. "Where are you headed?" she asks.

His teeth flash white and his chuckle is as dry as the wilderness around them. "You really have to ask?"

She doesn't. The answer is nowhere. There is nowhere to run, nowhere to escape the Great Strangeness creeping over the earth. They don't need to run.

FIC: The Roads Between (M, canon-typical violence)

SHIELD found Clint on the other end of a bad fight in an Indian wasteland, dousing the wounds from canine claws with holy water. He had pulled his arrows out of the pack's bodies already and laid them out across the earth before him to be cleaned. They glistened with water and blood.

Agent Phil Coulson's eyes widened slightly as he looked down the row, then finally met Clint's bland look.

"It's an old weapon," Coulson finally said, mildly.

Clint shrugged. "Old legends."

He doesn't believe the old myths were all false, or the solutions buried inside of them would not work so well. Clint makes the water the way it's been done for centuries: with dust to curse, with extinguished fire to purify, and with sincere prayers to bless. He pours it on his wounds, he drinks it in place of ordinary water, and he dips his arrows and his wards in its protection.

He's still human, isn't he?
