Forget Budapest--What Happened in Abidjan?!
So Marvel has launched a new app called "Avengers Initiative: A Marvel Second Screen App" as part of the marketing lead-up to the film's Blu-ray/DVD release in September. According to Collider:The app will give users access to exclusive content leading up to the release of The Avengers on Blu-ray/DVD with new downloads available bi-weekly in July and August, with weekly updates in September. The content includes “special access to the S.H.I.E.L.D. database, becoming a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, invitations to “special missions” either remotely or in the field, links to character profiles, stories and scenes, interactive Marvel digital reader comic books and more.”But that's just background. No, the real news here is what one of our fellow shippers discovered in Natasha's user profile. For screen caps and a full transcript of what I'm about to excerpt, check out sassassin-d's Tumblr post. Here are a couple juicy snippets:
Due to both her expertise and her growing threat to global security, Romanoff quickly appeared on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s radar, prompting Director Fury to send Agent Barton to eliminate her. Agent Barton disobeyed this order, recognizing her skill and recommending she be recruited for S.H.I.E.L.D.
...
As part of Strike Team Delta, Romanoff now has a functioning partnership with Clint Barton, who played a key role in her escape from the [CLASSIFIED] and subsequent defection.

Innnnteresting, yeah? Love the "functioning partnership" and "played a key role in her escape" lines. Plus, we now know the name of their group, which is pretty badass. And then there's Abidjan... What say you all?
(Aside: I definitely recommend downloading the app if you can. It's interactive and very cool--you can even watch a clip of Natasha shooting in footage from a battle. Only Steve and Nat's profiles are available now, but I'm sure we'll get Clint's soon too.)

Is this app for apple products only?

Not sure, unfortunately...

Sounds like it might be coming soon to other devices? Surely it must be. I can't believe Marvel would be so dumb as to limit their marketing reach like that when so much money has clearly gone into this project.

I need to download this. Yeah.
T minus two days until the Clintasha-covered comic is released.

I need that for the cover alone...

Need those caps since I don't have any Apple products. Hello! Not all of us are hipsters, Marvel!

He sure does. :DDDD

I like that their partnership and close relationship (the nature of which is wonderfully vague) is emphasised so much in the interviews and other media relating to the film. I hope this means it will be a feature of the future movies.

("Delta" is also US Army Special Forces, which according to the information provided by the book Black Hawk Down, are/were subject to both admiration by the Rangers and a fair bit of mockery.)
And that is all very interesting! Although I think for my own headcanon and fic-verse, I'm going to ignore that background information. Still, yay information for the picking!

This isn't actually new information. Since The Avengers is down to one showing a day at the local cinema I ran off to see it again last night before it leaves the theaters. *sobs for how long it is until I can own the DVD* *collects self again*
It shows up onscreen in a very brief scene. I can't remember exactly when I saw it now (dammit) but it was up on a computer screen somewhere. Which means it was probably either part of Stark's homework with that clip of Clint and Natasha shooting, or when Natasha flicks the screen to check on how the search for Clint is going. I think it was the latter.
