Now that we've all breathed a collective sigh of relief regarding Secret Santa, I come bearing another fic....uh, challenge? goal?

A while ago I had asked on the Discord if anyone was interested in helping to complete a 31 Days of Winter fic that

crazy4orcas had begun as a tribute to her. Well, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE. Shen has suggested we begin posting 12/31, which would have been Orcas birthday. If you are interested in contributing or know anyone who might be, please feel free to visit and share the following link to the WIP:

January Updates

Happy New Year folks!

It's the first Friday of the year and if you're looking for an ATTF we have a New Year's Party slowly getting started where we're chatting about creativie plans and things we're looking forward to in 2019.

In case you missed it, we also have a Secret Santa 2018 Masterlist with 13 new fanfics.

And if you've getting that, ugh, back to studying/work in cold January feeling, don't forget February is just around the corner, and that means a mini promptathon...

In comics there's a a new Black Widow #1 due out this month from writers Jen and Sylivia Soska and artist Flaviano (I don't know much about this one; comment with any news?). Meanwhile Hawkeye (both of them actually) is in West Coast Avengers, written by Kelly Thompson and issue 7 is artist Daniele Di Nicuolo (which is a touch comics!wacky at times but fun and I'm enjoying this one).

No Marvel films out this month, but if you enjoy Spider-Man and you haven't seen it already, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is good fun and does some interesting things with the animation imitating comics art.

Tumblr Banning 'Adult' Content

If you're a Tumblr user, I'm sure you're already aware of the change in their Terms of Service regarding adult content. Of course, this only very slightly affects this comm here on DW (we might get some new people? That could be cool) but it may well effect our Tumblr account. To that end, I have made this post to explain what changes will or will not be happening to the be_compromised Tumblr account as a result of this change. It also contains links explaining a little about the background to these changes, and some handy links bout such things as backing up your account and contacting Tumblr HQ.

Fic rec!

For

alphaflyer, who mentioned wanting something short to read after a long day, I found one of my favorite fluffy Clintasha fics. Can't get me enough of Liho and Lucky :D This fic is set in Fraction and Aja's Hawkeye verse, featuring Kate as your friend who you really should listen to more often than you do.

"Why are you still in bed?" Kate demands, kicking at a corner of Clint’s mattress, which, rude. Why were girls and cats always so rude to him.

"Lucky turned into a cat," Clint says, burying his head in the pillow. "I’m hoping that if I wake up tomorrow, he’ll be back to normal."

So, people don't really post recs here all that much any more do they? Well, Imma change that, because guys, you gotta read this if you haven't already. I reread it recently and was reminded all over again just how wonderful it is. It's Steve/Bucky and Clint/Nat, but I promise that those pairings are largely irrelevant. The most important thing is that this Clint is fucking stunning.

"Oh, well, you know," Steve tried, but Clint tilted his head, still keeping Steve's eye, and said, direct as Sam that day by the reflecting pool, "You don't know how to handle it, do you?"

"Excuse me?" Steve said, only out of the pure reflex politeness Sarah Rogers had bred into him before he was six years old.

"Grief." Clint's look was unsparing, merciless, but held no judgement, either. "The loss. The pain, the anger...." He waited, but Steve couldn't say anything any more than he could look away. "So you tried to make a deal. Dedicate your life to what's left, do what you can do. Strike a bargain that would make it all go away -- only you can't. It won't. And it never will."

Steve's throat was dry, so he took a long drink of water, and then another one, trying to think of something to say that wasn't How do you know? or No I'm fine thanks or even just Fuck you, but when he looked back up, Clint was actually smiling, a little. "Or you can tell me I'm wrong."

CIVIL WAR: has arrived and our discussion post is over here! Please don’t discuss the new film anywhere else on the comm until we announce otherwise (after the film has been released worldwide and people have had a chance to see it) so that people can avoid spoilers if they want to.

ALL THE THINGS FRIDAY: You can sign up to host, suggest ideas, and see what’s coming up at our sign up post. No hosts on the post means not ATTF, so do come and play – we have spaces for the 20th May onwards. And as a heads up, this Friday our community will be four years old! So we’ll be having a good old fashioned getting-to-know-you friending type party ATTF :D

IN THE WIDER WORLD WIDE WEB: Marvel Big Bang is in business for 2016 with lots of options for taking part - sign ups are open for authors until 15th May, sign ups for artists are open until 3rd September, and tandem sign ups until 15th May. Het Big Bang sign ups are open for authors until 17th May and they’re also after artists, beta readers, and cheerleaders. Heroine Big Bang is back in business – look out for a revised/new schedule. There’s also Femme Remix accepting nominations until 8th May, Every Woman accepting nominations, and an LBGT Fest accepting prompts until 31st May. And probably more things that I’ve not spotted!

( A few things to know... )

ALL THE THINGS FRIDAY: We're starting this again - that's our Friday party posts that carry on into the weekend - THIS FRIDAY with Three Sentence Fics. Ask and ye shall receive ;) That means we also need VOLUNTEERS for hosting future Fridays - further information and sign up sheet HERE. If there's no one signed up to a Friday, that means it doesn't happen, so run don't walk!

REMIX EXCHANGE: We had one of these back in 2014 and keep your eyes peeled, because we're looking at doing this again towards the end of this month/start of April. A remix is, essentially, fanfiction of fanfiction. You create a fanfic using someone else’s fanfic as a starting point. Examples of remixes include writing the story from another character’s perspective, an interlude between scenes, taking the fic in another direction after a certain point (what if this character did X instead of Y?), etc. Further informaton on the way!

IN THE WIDER WORLD WIDE WEB: There's a new Black Widow comic just started, by Mark Waid, Chris Samnee, and Matthew Wilson. Marvel Is Marvel gift exchange sign ups are open. This year's
