Welcome!!!! The time is now upon us. This will kick off a month's worth of prompting and fanworking and all the good things. Not sure what to do? Click below for our handy-dandy Promptathon Guide!

RULES ON POSTING SUBMISSIONS
(please read before you post! <3)


The Rules.  Just follow these three easy steps!

1. Leave a Prompt.
Prompts can be anything--simple or elaborate, words or pictures, songs or poems, lyrics or phrases. Anything that, to you, inspires a C/N fanwork. Use your imagination. Go crazy. All I ask is that you keep it tasteful and warn for anything explicit or triggery. Also, try to be as specific as you can with your prompts--this is often very helpful to those creating the fanwork.

And leave as many prompts as you want. I’m serious. Keep coming back, y’all. We want all the prompts we can possibly get Also, be sure to leave each prompt as a separate comment.

2. Wait a week.
Tailgate and chitchat and keep leaving prompts. And mull over the epic fanworks you are creating.

3. Submit C/N fanwork like there is no tomorrow.
All submissions should either be posted here or linked to this post via a comment. The nitty gritty details of posting your stuff can be found HERE. Please read before you post


Timeframe:
Prompts will be accepted starting today, Friday, July 13th (!!!) and will remain open until Friday, August 10th.  Submissions may be submitted beginning on Friday, July 20th and may continue to be submitted until August 10th.


What we hope to accomplish with all this promptathon-iness:

• A chance to get in the game. Been wanting to jump into the C/N fanwork scene but not sure where to start? Now’s the time. There’s no length requirement on the works submitted, you can focus on drabbles and vidlets and short and sweet projects (or do longer more epic stuff if that strikes your fancy as well).  It’s really entirely up to you. We’re just hoping to provide a fun, no-pressure environment.

• Meet new and awesome people. Because srsly, I love everyone in this bar. It's a good damn bar. Don't be afraid to say hello
• Ship like you’ve never shipped before.
• Tailgate when appropriate. My motto is, if something ain’t a cocktail party, you just aren’t trying hard enough. In that spirit, aurora_0811and I are hosting the tailgate section (which I think at this point just includes random chatter and ridiculousness, cheerleading and tomfoolery, because I doubt our comm’s talkative nature will be suppressed even during the prompting/waiting period.) So pull up a helicarrier-shaped lawnchair, crack open a cold one and settle in for the festivities. And leave prompts.

And most of all, have fun. :)

Natasha and Clint actually get a large amount of vacation time (SHIELD hardly wants them to burn out, after all), and they have a habit of taking it entirely randomly (vanishing for a couple of weeks on end).

Okay, so beside the massive feels this gave me, the list of men that Natasha thinks of is actually a great aspect that doesn't get brought out enough. The idea that she has other lovers, that she links them effortlessly with the personas and the people they believe her to be, is a really good one. And then she calls him and it's not him and... oh, my heart.

I love this so much. From Natasha's response to the assholes (and that she uses that word; I haven't read her cursing like that in many fics and I really like it), to the "...Fury's career?" bit, to "And it's going to be a thing of beauty."...

What I love most about it is how it combines lightness and humor with the situations they have to deal with every day, how their relationship is so comfortable... and that laundry is complicated.

So pretty much I love all of it. <3

Out of curiosity (and making no promises because my muses are fickle as *hell* this summer) - are there any particular elements about pern/the weyrs/etc that you would particularly like included?

(I'm kind of fishing because I have the main bit plotted through but would kind of like to flesh some of it out a bit better and need ideas.)

Marvel is one word for it :s Meanwhile I love my pilots or assassins generally having or using guns or other weapons... and even belting the crap out of each other in the right context (UB FTW). But apparently not guns in the bedroom. Oh my brain. Why you make no sense? :P

But yes, the dynamic here is just cracking. It's really atmospheric, for lack of a better word, and I love the mood of this piece :)

I loved Clint's presence in this and how he still kind of dominated proceedings even though Nat had a gun in her hand and the pin bit at the end OMG. YES.

A BILLION TIMES YES AND AGREE!!! I love the idea of them kind of playing it to look like Nat's in charge (ish, as much as anyone is) when they're around other people, when in reality he's the subtly more dominant one between the two of them - partly because initially she was coming into his "turf" and he was necessarily showing her how things worked and helping her navigate this really new and different way of being, and partially because they like it that way (see above and GUH) and because he likes being underestimated by people - it gives him an advantage.

Which is another bonus to using the bow for him, I mean, people tend to see that kind of weapon and think it's quaint and then not realize that he's just as good a shot with a hundred other things as well as a badass at hand-to-hand and a brilliant spy/tactician/etc.

(I might have a real weakness for anytime that one or both of them gets to show up the naysayers and kick ass and take names. Maybe. Just a bit.)

Black, Red, Gold

She starts with a slip knot around his right wrist.

He watches, blue eyes calm and quiet. Both of them knowing if she's placed it wrong, if she pulls and it tightens she could do real damage to his hand, his sensitive hand.

She could ruin him, in this moment.

If she wanted.

They don't move. A second rope joins the first, red and black against the rustic brown of his skin. A third, thinner and gold as Rapunzel's straw but far stronger.

His lip curls, just a little.

She begins plaiting. Each rope carefully placed and sectioned and crossed at each juncture, up the smooth skin and muscles over the radius and ulna and a quick twisted band below his elbow. She does not pause, continues up bicep and tricep to the armpit where she shapes another knot of black and red and gold and the melanin she herself lacks.

He sits up; she reaches behind him and draws her materials across the leather covering his back. He doesn't make this part easy for her, but he doesn't make it difficult, either.

The strands and knots grow tighter as she works her way down his left arm, using the latticework on his right as an extra set of anchor points until she's satisfied with the red hourglass at the small of his back and she closes the loop with three more simple loops around his left wrist.

He could slip away, she knows, despite the care in her bondage. She can see his muscles trembling with the urge to prove she doesn't hold him.

But she does, and she traces a finger just inside one neatly-formed diamond. Symmetry, and black and white and gold on her unprotesting brown canvas.

Actually, these two 'ships in the same direction for me, the USS rope and grease smudge is just a little less dysfunctional. Mostly.

ETA: Actually, that pic could be a prompt in and of itself...

So could Unfinished Business, come to that. I would absolutely LOSE IT if someone wrote be a parallel story to UB with these two.

And welcome to the ever-expanding universe that began with Bob's 'small acts of kindness' and then continued with 'bait' and that has been continuing with pretty much everything we're writing in this promptathon (sans kidfic, obvs). Because oh this dynamic. It is compelling.
