Hi All, since we haven’t done one of these in a long while and we’ve had some new faces join us this year (HELLO!) welcome to a good old-fashioned friending meme.

If you haven’t seen one of these before, they’re a chance for everyone in the community to get to know each other; to say hi if you’re new, if you’ve not been around for a while, if you’ve been lurking, and if you just fancy a chat. This is an open to all, friendly (pun intended) event. If you make new friends here feel free to join the community and/or friend each other on various platforms, or not - there’s no pressure, we’re just here to have fun. You can find examples of previous friending memes here.

An introduction to our community, the community rules, and some useful links are available here. This includes a link to the handy Username Database - we’d recommend taking a minute to add your usernames / online handles here since we’re spread across different platforms. Those being dreamwidth, discord (instructions on how to join the discord here), and tumblr. Big events, like the yearly promptathon and secret santa fic exchange, are advertised across all three platforms. Most chatting happens on discord. Feel free to spend time with us on as many or as few platforms you like.

A note on ‘OPTIONAL extra info’: while ALL of the questions are optional, as someone from the school of ‘don’t share personal identifying information on the internet’ I want to emphasise that this freestyle space is especially optional. If you like, this is where you can share anything extra that you would like people to know about you, that you think it would be useful to know, or that you would just like to share. So, so far we've got:

- talks from alphaflyer on international legal stuff and paperairplanesopenwindows Explains Where the Barton House Is (A Three Hour Experience)

- archers_and_spies will be providing live music - all taylor swift - with explainations of each song's relation to clintasha

- a puzzle table and a somewhere to watch Marvel things will be available for quiet times

- gsparkle has remembered the importance of food with "what would they eat in [insert your home locale here]" and everyone brings a food that they think Clint and/or Natasha would order in their town and then... we eat!

- there will be a tour of Budapest to work off the food, including MCU and fanfic locations and a private tour of the metro system, to see where Clint and Nat spent three days playing tic-tac-toe, hangman, and doing Whatever Else They Were Up To While Bored.

- apparently Scarlett Johannsson and Jeremy Renner are showing up to do some acting and/or reading. (Hmm, maybe we invite them on the walking tour and see if we can get some amateur filming done...?)

- and I will be too busy laughing at 'ball pit' to take part in firlalaith's actual suggeston of an archery contest

I love stories about their partnership before or during the events of the movies, stories about what really happened in Budapest, friends to lovers stories, really anything that shows them being bad ass. I have to admit I really didn't buy Natasha/Bruce as presented in the movies, so I mostly just ignore that. I have no problem with Clint's family but I just kind of put that to one side and focus on the bond between him and Natasha that we saw so clearly in "Avengers." I pretty much also ignore Natasha's fate at the end of the movie series -- that just did not work for me.

List some of your favourite Marvel characters/pairings other than Clint and Natasha: Bucky/Steve, Clint/Coulson, Natasha/Maria, Natasha/Clint/Coulson, Bucky/Natasha, Steve/Peggy.

Are there any other fandoms you're currently into? Wheel of Time, and lots of old fandoms, especially Stargate SG-1 and LOTR.

How do you / would you like to participate in fandoms? (Are you a writer, artist, reader, cheerleader, beta reader, podfic maker, vid maker, appreciative lurker…?) I was a writer for a long time but now I'm just a reader/commenter.

What're some of your favourite things you love to see in fic/creative works? Stories with plot that show how awesome the characters are, action along with the romance. Stories that explore the unexplored corners of the movies. I don't tend to gravitate toward au's for Clint/Natasha for some reason because ordinarily I like them.

What’s your brand of Marvel? Mainly MCU, with a few headcannons that stem from the comics.

What’s your brand of Clint and Natasha? I like SHIELD-era spy stuff and everything STRIKE Team Delta, as well as AUs—and for those, canon-divergent rather than completely unrelated universes. I am not a fan of Laura triangles, although I enjoy stories she's part of, either happily married with Clint and Nat as Clint's best friend, post-divorce Clintasha or even cheating Clintasha (yes, that is not below me, sorry Laura).

List some of your favourite Marvel characters/pairings other than Clint and Natasha: Pepperony was my first OTP, and I've dipped my toes in Tony/Nat before, although that one needed an AU-verse to work in my head. Currently Clintasha is my desired pairing.

Are there any other fandoms you're currently into? Not in terms of content creation. I was big into Resident Evil, but they lost me a couple years ago with all their reboots.

How do you / would you like to participate in fandoms? I am mainly a writer, although I'm known to spend untenable amounts of time doodling fanart for my own stories in Photoshop when I try to procrastinate writers block. I'll gladly beta read and cheerlead, and if anyone knows good long-fic, that's my favorite to read.

What're some of your favourite things you love to see in fic/creative works? Realism most of all, especially concerning action and medical stuff. I really like whump and hurt/comfort, but you'll loose me if a bandaid somehow magically fixes internal hemorrhage and a bad concussion disappears within the first paragraph's dialogue. I also like well-written intimacy that goes a little deeper than Captain America getting a boner every time he sees Tony stepping out of his sweaty Iron Man suit, lol. In terms of Clintasha specifically, the various forms of their initial hookup, Natasha opening up about her Red Room days, general Delta awesomeness and any and all survival scenarios that really put them to the test.

I had just stepped out of the shower when I heard a light rapping on the door. I thought it must be Hill, coming to chide me for drinking straight from the pot (something I did just to get under her skin) so I yelled back, "Give me a moment unless you're willing to see things that can't be unseen!"
Wrapping a towel around my waist, I trudged to the door and opened it. But it wasn’t Hill standing there with an expression of mild amusement.
"This is unexpected," I managed.
Natasha Romanoff gave me a small smile, taking in my towel-clad state. "I can see that."
It felt like ages since I’d last seen her. Both of us had been on divergent mission agendas for a while now and our schedules rarely still aligned. Besides, even if I’d been so inclined, it wasn’t as if you could just pick up the phone for a chat while deep undercover. We had, each in our own way, become two of SHIELD’s most valuable assets. 
Natasha was no longer the suspicious new Russian defector. She’d proved her mettle a hundred times over by now. And I had matured into my craft, grown less impulsive. I didn’t need a partner to temper me, worked well alone. But that was how I’d always thought of her, even as our paths split. My partner.
“Hey, stranger,” Natasha said, her voice playful as she took a good look at me. “What’s a nice guy like you doing in a dump like this?”
Listen, here's the deal with Natasha: she’s the kind of woman who won’t take any shit, but can dish it out in spades. She’s got the looks and the brains. And she’s been one of my most solid friends and allies since I‘d recruited her five years earlier.
“Getting ready for a little coffee and ice cream date with you,” I said, grinning. “How long has it been? Six months? Longer?”
“Something like that,” she said. “I’m still shaking off the jet lag. This time last week I had a British accent. Some all-American high-fructose trash will definitely help me get my head back stateside.”
She gave me another look-over. “Maybe put a shirt on if you don’t want the local girls to get all overcome with excitement. Doesn’t seem like there are many men around here with a full complement of teeth.”
And there it was. That easy, playful banter between us that made it feel as though no time at all had passed. I laughed and told her to meet me in the parking lot in five. Suddenly I was glad Bogota had been called off.
Wherever they’d send me, at least it would be in good company.


What’s the last book you read/film you watched/song you listened to (OR the last ones that stuck in your mind or that you’d like to share): Fun fact: for the last 6 years or so, I've read almost exclusively Stephen King for fiction. Currently on a re-read of It. It's just so awfully long.

What Marvel merchandise do you wish existed, or what's your favourite fan thing that you own? I have a little Iron Man figure glued to the dashboard of my Jeep Wrangler. I keep praying to it for that superhero mental support whenever I go offroading.

Relatively new to the ship, so right now my brand of Clint and Natasha is fairly expansive. I like exploring all aspects of canon (even the parts I don't prefer, like Bruce/Nat and the surprise farm) because I think it makes for interesting fic. I would say that I don't currently gravitate to super non-canon AUs for the pairing, but that's my usual MO. I know there are many amazing ones!

I love fic that explores missing moments, what ifs, the interior thoughts of characters, and everything that canon doesn't usually have room for. I think fic is magical because it dives into all the nooks and crannies of characters and relationships.

I'm AlphaFlyer pretty much everywhere, sometimes with a space between the Alpha and the Flyer and sometimes with a lower case "f". And in case you wonder where that comes from, I entered fandom via Star Trek Voyager, where the ship is stranded in the Delta Quadrant, and my fave character built a shuttle called the "Delta Flyer", but I live in the Alpha Quadrant, so.

All of the above, as my muse and I see fit - sometimes in a total mash-up with a dash of the multiverse. I particularly like filling in the little gaps, cracks and plot holes between and within movies, or creating "before" and "new origin" stories.

It is common knowledge in the greater Los Angeles area that Anthony E. Stark’s parties are not to be missed, at least not by the living. If you’re not seen at Stark’s mansion when the champagne flows you are, by definition, a nobody. A nameless husk of a human without career, connections, economic prospects, and sex drive.


What Marvel merchandise do you wish existed, or what's your favourite fan thing that you own? Oh, oh - I have a dozen bobble heads (including a complete Clint-Kate-Yelena set from the TV series)! But my favourite fandom thing is the bat'leth my husband made me, and which hangs over our TV in the family room. That's where my nerd shelves are; we also have a life-size Firebolt broom hanging there, which he made for our daughter when she was younger, and the One Ring.

If someone were to win the lottery and we had a community convention (in Budapest, of course), suggest a panel, activity, event etc. you would like us to have: Well, CloudAtlas, Ink and I went to Budapest a few years ago so we've already done the "hang out in the thermal baths and look for goons" thing. What’s your brand of Marvel? MCU (though I am somewhat familiar with a few comic book things, mostly the Bucky/Nat stuff, tbh.)

What’s your brand of Clint and Natasha? I shipped them hard in Phase 1, before we found out he had a family and she was supposed to love Bruce (I still don't get that part!) and since finding out about Bucky/Nat in the comics I fell hard for that ship. I love them as best friends, however, I still have a soft spot for them as a romantic pairing too, mostly in Phase 1, just pretending the pairings from Age of Ultron never become a thing, or AUs where they really never happened.

Are there any other fandoms you're currently into? Hart of Dixie, Gilmore Girls, Timeless, and a bunch of others that I rotate around from time to time. (I don't really watch anything new anymore, I'm a dedicated rewatcher of my faves)

How do you / would you like to participate in fandoms? I've been writing fanfiction for 20+ years and I don't feel like stopping yet! Also, occasionally mess around in Photoshop, and sometimes even make fanvids, but mostly it's the writing :)

What're some of your favourite things you love to see in fic/creative works? Romance, because I'm a sucker for it. Close friendships, found family, team-as-family, but also friends-to-lovers and all of the fun tropes in those kinds of areas when it comes to my ships. Canon divergent AUs, mundane AUs, what ifs?, all that type of stuff too.

New stuff is fine sometimes, but I know what I like and I like what I know, you know? So, the last film I (re)watched was Clueless, which I love :)

Brevity? LOL! My attention span is so short lately, so even if I love long epics, I can never get into them and gravitate to stuff under 10k. Longing, happy and hopeful endings. FRIENDSHIP and found family.

Hmmm... I will take them pretty much any location, any time period, officially coupled or not. As long as neither is being killed off and Nat isn't paired with Bruce then I'm in. I do have a fondness for early SHIELD days, but when you live on crumbs, you can't be picky ;)

i guess i'll recommend con te partiro, which i think is one of my best clintasha stories, and fast, thorough, sharp as a tack, which is natasha and maria!

context: natasha, a tony stark-esque ceo, needs to get married to stay in the country, and so coerces clint, her long-suffering assistant, into a sham marriage (yes, this is the plot of the sandra bullock/ryan reynolds seminal millennial classic, The Proposal; and yes, this is a sequel to my original nat-as-tony fic)

Natasha wakes somewhere over the Great Plains to find that her spite nap hasn't had the desired effect. She’s still on a commercial flight, still traveling to Nowhere, Iowa, and still sitting next to the most annoying person she knows. "Done sulking?" he asks as she flags down the flight attendant and orders a strong bloody mary.

“Nope,” she says, slouching down in her seat and slurping her drink. Clint cuts her a look that says he knows what she’s doing, but brattiness is one of the easiest shrouds to pull over herself when she’s so far off balance. “I can’t believe you’re dragging me to the Midwest. I should tell the flight attendant that I’m being held hostage.”

There was a time, once, where she could actually yank Clint’s chain; now, he doesn’t even look up from his book. “Go ahead,” he says, turning a page. “I’m sure everyone would love to know why you’re on a plane to Iowa.”

What’s your brand of Clint and Natasha? Canon adjacent Clintasha. So canon divergence AU, and what ifs/what could have been. Clintasha angst too, so stuff like married Clint but has feelings. Idk maybe I'm an enjoyer of messy LMAO. Nothing outwardly malicious obviously, but I feel like it sort of mirrors life in the way that stuff isn't always perfect, and things can get messy. But I just love it when they just have this fundamentally understanding of each other, that after years of being partners, they just know each other so deeply.
