Friending Meme  
Hi All, since we haven’t done one of these in a long while and we’ve had some new faces join us this year (HELLO!) welcome to a good old-fashioned friending meme.

If you haven’t seen one of these before, they’re a chance for everyone in the community to get to know each other; to say hi if you’re new, if you’ve not been around for a while, if you’ve been lurking, and if you just fancy a chat. This is an open to all, friendly (pun intended) event. If you make new friends here feel free to join the community and/or friend each other on various platforms, or not - there’s no pressure, we’re just here to have fun. You can find examples of previous friending memes here.

An introduction to our community, the community rules, and some useful links are available here. This includes a link to the handy Username Database - we’d recommend taking a minute to add your usernames / online handles here since we’re spread across different platforms. Those being dreamwidth, discord (instructions on how to join the discord here), and tumblr. Big events, like the yearly promptathon and secret santa fic exchange, are advertised across all three platforms. Most chatting happens on discord. Feel free to spend time with us on as many or as few platforms you like.

How to play:

1) Copy and paste the below questions and formatting from the box below into a new comment, as the start of a new comment thread.

2) Answer as many / as few of the questions as you like / feel comfortable with and hit post! All questions are optional.

3) Chat with the people who reply to your comment.

4) Reply to other people’s comments to have a chat with them. You might want to comment on one of their answers where you think you have a mutual interest, or you found something interesting, or you just want to say ‘hi’. It’s all good!



A note on ‘OPTIONAL extra info’: while ALL of the questions are optional, as someone from the school of ‘don’t share personal identifying information on the internet’ I want to emphasise that this freestyle space is especially optional. If you like, this is where you can share anything extra that you would like people to know about you, that you think it would be useful to know, or that you would just like to share. This could be, for example, your preferred pronouns, a general location/timezone, how frequently you’re online, what people might expect to find on your blog… a cute picture of a pet, a favourite gif… you name it. Or not, as the case can very much be. Stay safe <3

And also a fun Shield Husbands soulmates AU fic I found recently, A Color Full of Cuttlefish, where you don't see color until you touch your soulmate and Clint is a shifter who can, among other related species, turn into an octopus.

Self rec something that you've written/created: It's so hard to pick just one thing of what I've written, so I just picked the most recent thing I posted, If this neighborhood is called Little Budapest. A sequel to a fic I wrote last year, they're both part of an AU where Natasha fakes her death on Vormir set during the timeline of the Hawkeye tv show.

Give us 3 sentences or a teaser of something creative, fic or otherwise, that you’re working on: I'm doing whumptober this year, focusing on Phil Coulson and Jemma Simmons. I've barely started my fic for the first day's prompt plus my mouse just died, so you will unfortunately not get to get a sneak peek of it. (and all my other wips are just vague ideas like "trans widow clint")

What’s the last book you read/film you watched/song you listened to (OR the last ones that stuck in your mind or that you’d like to share): Dracula Daily

What Marvel merchandise do you wish existed, or what's your favourite fan thing that you own? I wish there was a Jemma Simmons Funko pop, in my searches I've only encountered custom made ones.
My favourite Marvel merchandise item is my army of funko pop Clints and Natashas

If someone were to win the lottery and we had a community convention (in Budapest, of course), suggest a panel, activity, event etc. you would like us to have: ball pit Archery contest

OPTIONAL extra info: I really love bats and will happily infodump about them if asked. I also have a special interest in aviation and air crash investigation.

See? Someone else agrees they need more funko pops! (I'd take one for Jemma, but I really want a Darcy one.)

And I watch all the air crash investigation documentaries . . . especially a couple of months before I'm going on a trip. That's where the weird button gets pushed for my family.

It's just so reassuring to know that if a plane is gonna go down, it's less likely to take me with it now than it used to be.
I have a tendency to pick up on things learned during investigations and apply them to stuff in my life. Like trying to get enough sleep every night.

I stalled in watching Agents of SHIELD back in the day. I should go back to that sometime... I do remember after Winter Soldier came out and AoS was only halfway through being like 'what did you just do?! You just established this Agency!' So well played, ha.

I had some little bats roosting in the roof of an old place I stayed in for a week in summer. I'd shut all the doors and windows so they wouldn't fly in, and then one would just APPEAR inside. Little houdinis. I did some googling and didn't realise how a small a space they can fit through.

Yeah, that was about when I completely stopped watching the MCU until 2021. No fair to AoS I was actually enjoying it but the lack of Clint in the MCU overall really got to me back then.

Thanks, I'm doing great so far as I write day two directly into AO3 xD

I came across two different fics that toyed with this idea and I couldn't get enough of it, I have to write my own, two of them at least, one for Clintasha and one for Clint/Coulson.

I still have my doubts that Dashcon really happened, years later.

Bats are so much smaller than people realize. There's a European species, the common pipistrelle, the adults are so small that they are frequently mistaken as being babies, going by how every single wildlife rescue in their range mentions how to tell the difference between an adult and a baby on their website.

I can't remember when I stopped AoS, somewhere in seasons 3 to 6 maybe??? I've started watching Daredevil twice and still haven't made it past ep 6 or 7 lol. I DID finish the Hawkeye tv show!

I had Clint as trans in a gift fic but I didn't really explore it. Do you have any recs? And will of course read yours when done :)

It was a place in the countryside in the UK. I have no idea what type of bats they were but they were definitely small. And it sounds daft, but even though I KNEW they were silent it's one thing to know it and another to be trying to work out where one is based only on a very fast moving shadow. When a bird is inside I can usually tell where it is. I do know bats are protected here, so if they are roosting in that roof then they're there to stay. Last I asked they said they might try luring them out to bat boxes.
