ATTF: Thor 2 Discussion Post

Happy Friday, greatest bar! Something a little off topic for today, but still very relevant to our interests. ;)

We are going to talk about Thor: The Dark World! What you liked, what you didn't, where you think Clint and Natasha might have been during all this, now is your chance to discuss it with your fellow bar patrons!

Needless to say, the comments will be a SPOILER ZONE. If you haven't seen Thor 2 and wish to remain unspoiled, please proceed with caution.

Things to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)

I think part of the problem for me is that I always see his fandom telling me he's just poor widdle Woki and and he should be pitied because his dad was so mean to him. And it makes me roll my eyes because thousands (maybe even millions!) of people with less than awesome parents didn't go try to take over planets and murder thousands. So, yeah. But yeah, in this movie, away from his fandom, I could enjoy him for the charismatic, not-helping-at-all-dammit-Loki person because as you said, Great Story.

That said, I do think Odin is definitely a villain, too. Not that it excuses Loki's actions, but Odin is villainous.

Agree 100%, with everything you say.

Re Odin -- he is the "benign, righteous tyrant" who screws things up simply because he is so used to getting his own way, he's forgotten that what he has is a perspective and that there may be others. His intentions may be prima facie good, but his execution sucks.
