SUNDAY 7 AUGUST: We open for fills! (You can also keep prompting)
MIDNIGHT SUNDAY 25 SEPTEMBER: Promptathon, both prompts and fills, ends at midnight in whatever your timezone is.

HOW PROMPTATHON 2022 WORKS

> Step One: Leave Prompts

Prompts can be anything – simple or elaborate, words or pictures, songs or poems, lyrics or phrases, anything that inspires a fanwork. Use your imagination. Go wild!

We welcome ALL THINGS MARVEL, though we ask that Clint and/or Natasha turn up in there somewhere, individually or as friends, lovers, spouses, partners, in gen fic, ANYTHING. That means we do welcome other characters and pairings (and threesomes or moresomes).

Leave as many prompts as you want. We’re serious. Keep coming back. We want as many prompts as we can possibly get. Just make sure each prompt is in a separate comment.

Also please add a warning at the top if your prompts contain spoilers/speculation relating to any Marvel films/tv shows released in the last six months including Hawkeye TV.

> Step Two: Squee

Been wanting to jump into the fandom but not sure where to start? Now’s the time. Newbie or a lurker? Here’s the perfect opportunity to say hello! Promptathon is a fun, no-pressure environment. If all you want to do is post prompts and share in the squee, you’re more than welcome! And by squee we mean chatting in the chat thread, replying to prompts to chat about prompts, and just lots of excitement all over the place.

For additional squee, there is also the be_compromised Discord Server, where you can chat about Promptathon (or anything else) in a more chatroom-style place. Click here for an invite. However, all prompts and fills will be on this DW post as a one-stop shop.

> Step Three: submit fanworks like there’s no tomorrow!

The usual Community Rules apply. There’s no length requirement on fanworks submitted. You can create drabbles or epics, vids, art, fanmixes, anything at all; it’s just all about getting creative! You can fill as many prompts as you want, and prompts can be filled multiple times by whoever wants to fill them.

Please warn if your fills contain spoilers/speculation relating to any Marvel films/tv shows released in the last six months including Hawkeye TV.

HOW TO POST FILLS

Respond in a comment to the prompt you are filling. Please post the entire work in the comment if it's short enough OR post a link, and consider posting the first section as a teaser. Please don't post works directly to the comm - we’re all about one-stop shopping, so keep everything in this main promptathon post. We'll do a masterlist of fills at the end.

Label your fill/comment in the subject line with 'FILL', your title, and a rating. Example: FILL: 5 Times Clint and Natasha Were Awesome (PG). When filling in the subject line, you may need to view the comm in its original style (if you don't already). Just make sure you can see a subject line when responding with your submission. This makes it A LOT easier for us to make that masterlist and for people to spot your fills.

Make sure to include a rating and warnings OR 'choose not to warn' at the start of your fill, as per the comm rules. Help us out and make sure folks know what they're clicking on :)

And once again, please warn for Hawkeye TV spoilers and any Marvel films/tvs released in 2022! Not everyone has Disney+/can get to the cinema.

The late-winter snow has been falling in big, soft flakes for two days now and even the most cartoonish supervillain is huddled by a fireplace somewhere, staying warm instead of providing a bit of sport and adrenaline.

Avengers’ Mansion is nice and cozy and full of booze, but there are only so many rounds of Cards against Humanity your average superhero can play before boredom sets in and tempers start to fray. Tony has been there for about an hour now.

“Hey, you, Master Assassins. Have you ever gotten caught on one of your…” he breaks the silence, looking for the just right quantum of offense to give, “…your killing sprees?”

Natasha refuses to take the bait and slowly twirls the ice cube in her vodka before taking a sip.

“No,” she says simply. “Never.”

“That’s where that whole ‘Master Assassins’ thing comes in,” Clint elaborates, a bit more helpfully. He is, after all, drinking Stark’s best Scotch, so maybe the man deserves a bone.
“Finesse.”

Tony is not satisfied.

“Finesse? What exactly would that entail in your line of business? Be specific.”

Clint picks a days-old copy of the New York Times up off the floor and stabs at the back page with a calloused finger.

“See this here? Another oligarch, fallen from a balcony. That’s what, six defenestrations this year, plus however many trips down the Stairways To Heaven? And it’s only March. They may as well stick on a post-it note that says ‘Compliments of Vladimir Putin’. No finesse.”

“Unless he intends everyone to know that it was him, I suppose?” Steve says.

“Well, yes,” Natasha says. “Sometimes you want the medium to be the message.”

Pepper gives a little shudder and looks to Maria Hill for an intervention.

Alas, it doesn’t come. Instead, the former Deputy Director seems to be caught up in a sudden wave of nostalgia, watching the bubbles rise in her champagne glass like strings of pearls.

“Did you know that if you inject a little air into someone’s blood, it can create an embolism?” she says. “Easily mistaken for a heart attack or stroke, especially when paired with certain…physical exertions. Context is everything.”

Maria strokes the side of the glass with the tip of her finger, before running her tongue leisurely around the rim of the glass and dipping it in the golden liquid.

Stark clears his throat.

“Exertions, like…?” he is about to say when Natasha decides to launch a distracting flare (for Pepper’s sake, of course).

“Sometimes you have to improvise the necessary context. Remember Ulaanbaatar, Clint?”

Her partner picks up the pass with an appropriately secretive chuckle.

“Ee-yup. They’re still trying to figure out what caused those yaks to stampede just so.”

Bruce nods sagely.

“The key is not to leave any evidence. I learned that the hard way when I smashed Harlem. Way too much rubble and way too many witnesses.”

Pepper, who has been listening to the evolving discussion with the attention she might give to a particularly hairy spider, sets down her glass with a loud clink.

“Don’t tell me what’s next,” she says, raising her hands in self-defence. “I think I don’t really want to know.”

“No worries, Pep,” Clint reassures her, with a sideways glare at Bruce. “SHIELD – at least the non-Hydra side - had a pretty strict rule against civilian witness disposal. We’re the good guys, remember? We only disappear evidence, not people.”

Tony crosses his arms in front of his chest.

“I call bullshit. You can’t just ‘disappear’ evidence. Laws of physics, and all that.”

Clint shakes his head.

“You wanna tell him, Tash? You’re much better at this whole physics thing than me.”

Natasha rolls her eyes at him.

“For the record, that is BS. You calculate stuff like weight, mass, gravity, and curvature of the Earth every time you loosen one of those arrows of yours. But, fine.”

She throws Tony a challenging look.

“How many states are there?”

“I know that!” Steve chimes in. “Fifty. Used to be forty-eight, back when I went under the ice. Although I don’t understand why they didn’t include Puerto Rico and DC when...”

Tony ruthlessly interrupts his musings.

“Three. Solid, liquid, and gaseous.”

Natasha makes the bingo sign with her pointer finger.

“Exactly. You change states, evidence literally evaporates, or at least becomes much harder to trace.”

Bruce utters a slightly horrified giggle.

“I don’t understand,” Pepper says. "Do I want to?"

Clint gets a faraway nostalgic look in his eyes.

“That’s why I love going on assignment to Russia. So many icicles.” He makes a javelin motion. “You use one of them babies in a nice warm place, by the time the cops get there all that’s left is a slightly diluted puddle of...”

He stops himself at Pepper's slight choking noise.

“Makes clean-up easier, too,” he adds in a conciliatory tone.

Steve has heard enough.

“Okay, I've heard enough," he says. "Time to do something different. Snowball fight, anyone?”
