ATTF: friending time.

Greetings, best bar on earth!!  Man I have missed this place. This time of year is always so crazy-busy, and there's always so much to get done that it seems to fly by in a kind of haze (I know I've pretty much been doing my own zombie walk just trying to make it through, and a huge shoutout to Bob for some much needed fic therapy; it's totally keeping my ass sane right now.)

But how goes it, y'all? [livejournal.com profile] shenshen77and I were talking the other day and she had mentioned that we hadn't had a good old-fashioned friending meme in a while, and I thought that sounded like a dandy idea. I also think we need a good impromptu dance party and a chance to chat and hang out with old friends and make new ones and just be our awesome selves.

So please come by and introduce yourself. Say a few words about how you found this place or this ship and what your interests are. Check out other people's comments. Feel free to stalk them (in a non-creepy and completely respectful way) and comment crash-- hell, this place was built on comment-crashing (you think I'm kidding but I'm not.) There is no form to fill out becuase I'm allergic to forms. Free jazz all the way, bb. ;)

ETA on the introductions: no need to go into detail on the personal stuff. share as much as you feel comfortable with. i always like being a little cautious on that front, this being the internets and all. <3

Pics, gifs, randomness, chitchat, melarkly, and general bedlam are always encouraged. I've missed you guys. <3

ALSO-- I'm posting a sign-up sheet in the comments for future ATTF posts. We have had some amazing guest hosts and I thank each and every one of you. Y'all are constantly raising the level of discourse (and squee) around here and it's awesome. So for anyone thinking about signing up-- don't be a stranger, m'kay?

Yeah. And the heart. "You have heart." Loki called it, totally.

Yes to all of this! I love this thread :)

Yeah, I see the heart thing as something all the Avengers share as a bonding thing, whereas the normal and darkness things are Clint and Natasha share. Does that make sense?

[identity profile] alphaflyer.livejournal.com 2012-12-08 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it does -- although there's a lot of darkness in Tony, too. His past as an arms dealer/creator, his time in Afghanistan (experiencing the other side of darkness).

Fair point. Tony has to deal with the unseen consequences of his actions, Bruce has to deal with the destruction he wrought as the Hulk and Thor has to deal with how his arrogance harmed the people around him. Demons make superheroes interesting! But it's really only Clint and Natasha who have killed so many people, in secret, and seen the light go out from their eyes.

ETA: And now that I think about it Steve has to deal with the people he's killed as well as the time dislocation. I still feel there's something different about being an assassin than killing people, but can't quite put my finger on it.

Darkness is a Very Good Thing. :-)

But yes, C & N are particularly dark ... why I love them.

I think that's the main point. Tony, especially, has death on his hands. But the whole of his movie arc (no pun intended) is about how, after he creates Iron Man, this changes. After he sees the results of his weaponry, he creates Iron Man, he's a hero. Bruce has blood on his hands, people have died because of his earlier lack of hubris. He's responsible, but not...in charge. Clint and Natasha are the only ones who used their talent and training to kill people. Personally. For money. By choice.

Ah, that's an interesting way to put it. *thinky thoughts*

Playing an assassin in varying stages of career and redemption has given me so many feels and thinky thoughts on this subject. I could go on ad nauseum, you have no idea! (and that sounds a little obnoxious, gah)

That's what Fridays are for. Pheelings!

Roleplaying an assassin. That was an important word missing in the above statement. Jesus. On that note I think I'm done. I've been writing all day and my brain is fried.

*diving back in to give you a stealth cuddle and ask if I can friend*

Of course!
