ATTF: Location, Location
Happy Friday people of the bar! It's that ATTF time again :)

This week is all about the PLACES in the Marvel universe. From New York to Budapest, Sokovia to Kathmandu, Siberia to Wakanda, Earth to the rest of the Galaxy... we're seeing more and more of the Marvel universe. This week we're going to explore!

> What are your thoughts/headcanons about the places we've been introduced to?
> Share your favourite screenshots, fun facts, any interesting about places in the Marvel universe, or that you've been to, would love to go to...anywhere!
> Share your headcanons about the places that our favourite assassins have been to, for missions or for fun.
> What characters would you like to send where?
- How do you go about embedding your fic/creative work in a particular location and bringing that place to life?
> Rec creative works set around the world or ones where you think a sense of place was really well done

Welcome to your weekend getaway :)

Things to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)</smal

I have OPINIONS about Wakanda that I may attempt to form into a coherent comment but not now because I have to get ready for work soon and if I start getting into the construction of Wakanda within the MCU I will probably be late.

But I have OPINIONS. And I still want to write a T'Challa the Young King fic but URGH is that hard.

I would be very interested in said opinions when you get chance to share them :)

It's mostly about what I consider to be the slightly shoddy construction of a country within the MCU. Because I am a GEOGRAPHER and these things offend me. :P

Been a busy weekend - is it still Friday???

Of course, things like Asgard, Sokovia and Wakanda are interesting. BUT. What I like is when Marvel goes on location shoots in real places, which make the global threat of whatever is happening so much more meaningful!

I watched Ironman 1 on the plane home from Afghanistan and ... WAIT. That's Afghanistan?!?! (Of course, it actually was California, but still, I was hooked...) Other favourite Marvel location so far have been Stuttgart in Avengers, Jo'burg, in Ultron - all mostly for their unexpectedness! Just seeing Exciting Things Happening outside of the USA is ... novel. Can't wait for the Edinburgh scenes in Avengers 3; I'll be going there in a couple of weeks.

And maybe we will get a shot of Budapest at some point. Someone in Marvel will have to take pity on us ... no? Please???

Hey, we can party all week if we want to!

Embedding the fictional in real places adding meaning; nice. Funnily enough I got (even) more excited about Infinity War when I found out they were filming somewhere that I'd lived, and I love when a sense of place gives rise to fics like [personal profile] franztastisch's one about Thor being lost on the tube.

I am in Edinburgh right now! Amusingly this round of filming keeps happening in places I have been or will be and never where I actually am, ha. But a friend managed to visit Durham when they were there and I was cheering her on :D
