We're mostly holding the fort on tumblr at the moment, reblogging lots of fan art, incorrect quotes, and anything else that we can find. As a reminder, you can - and please do! - submit fanfic and creations to this DW comm and to the comm tumblr.

A couple of shout outs:

Hi All, this weekend is our community's annibirthday - we're 9 years old! That's nearly a decade of familiar faces and new faces and sometimes even familiar faces returning again; of all you lovely people making this corner of fandom what it is. Whether you've been around since we first set up shop on livejournal back in the day or this is the first be_compromised post you've read: hello you wonderful person and a very happy annibirthday to you <3

We've spread out a bit over the years, so if you're looking for a place to party here's a reminder that you can:
- post fic, creations, recs, events, and anything relevant to our interests to this dreamwidth comm
- join us for a chat on Discord
- browse and submit things to our tumblr
- plus check who's going by what handle where on our username database - and add yourself if you like!

And bringing back an old favourite All The Things Friday event to celebrate, let's start the weekend early with a 3 Sentence Fics Challenge!

How to play:

1) Leave a (short) prompt in a comment. You can leave as many prompts as you like, but please put each prompt in a seperate comment.

2) Reply to prompts with three sentence fics. Grammar can be suspect, but fills must be ONLY THREE sentences long! You can reply to as many prompts as you like and prompts can have multiple fills. You can even reply to your own prompts. Or reply to other people's fills. The more writing the better!

Prompts and fills can include any Marvel characters. And there's no deadline, just whenever we run out of steam.

3) Have fun!

Things to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a good time!

Just a reminder that you have until Sunday 22 December to complete your Halloween Trick or Treat prompts if you're playing. No pressure if you don't have time :)

The submission date for the Secret Santa Exchange is also coming up in 3 weeks on Sunday 6th December (midnight whatever your time zone). Submission instructions will go up in the next few weeks. In the meantime, if you're looking for a beta reader or would like to volunteer as a beta reader or pinch hitter, please comment on this post you stars.

We will, of course, also have to arrange some New Year fun...

In the wider world wide web, Marvel Big Bang 2020 and Marvel Big bang Reverse 2020 fanworks go live in November and December for your entertainment, and if you'd like to do more creating Hawkeye (comics) is an option in this year's Yuletide (along with a whole heap of other fandoms).

SUMMER will see the return of the Epic Summer Promptathon (starting around mid-late July)

FOLLOWED BY an exciting new Round Robin plan being cooked up, Halloween Trick or Treats, and Secret Santa sign ups!

ONGOING we welcome ideas and volunteers to host our weekly All The Things Fridays.

And if that isn't enough in the wider world wide web bidding is currently open on the Charity Hawktion until 22:00, UK time Saturday 20th June (currently British Summer Time, which is UTC +1) and sign ups are open for Marvel Big Bang (Author sign ups close 1 July; Artist sign ups close 1 October).

We'd also like to check if there's any interest for a virtual comm meet up, either as a text chat or a video chat. If that's something you'd like to take part in please let us know in the comments and we'll do some planning.

Welcome to the be_compromised remix exchange 2020! You don't have to be a member of the be_compromised community or have a dreamwidth account - everyone is welcome to play.

What's a remix exchange?

A remix is, essentially, fanfiction of fanfiction - you create a fic using a fic written by the person you have matched with as a starting point. Examples of remixes include writing the story from another character’s perspective, an interlude between scenes, taking the fic in another direction after a certain point (what if this character did X instead of Y?), setting the fic in an alternate universe, etc. In exchange, a person who matches with you will remix one of your fics. There is also be the option for anyone taking part in the exchange to submit an additional 'treat' remix.

What are the rules?

You don't have to be a member of the be_compromised community or have a dreamwidth account - everyone is welcome to play! We do however ask you to follow the rules of our community if you're taking part in this exchange:

Specifically for this exchange:

Minimum word count is 1000 words. No maximum, but fics must be complete.

The default for this exchange is the Marvel fandom and you must have written AT LEAST THREE fics in this fandom in order to participate. As we are primarily a Clint and/or Natasha community, at least TWO of these fics must feature at least ONE of these characters. This is to ensure a basic level of matching for all taking part. If you match on other characters and pairings we're more than happy for you to write those characters and pairings.

We do appreciate that there are times when people need to drop out out exchanges. We're working on the honours system for this one and you will not be penalised for failing to submit. We don't have a formal pinch hit process in place for this exchange, although if needed we may ask members of the community if they are available to and would like to pinch hit.

This is not an anonymous gift exchange, and all fics will be revealed on the same day at the end of the exchange.

So how do I play?

Head over to the AO3 collection to sign up.

You'll make asked to make one REQUEST for a person you'd like to be matched with, to remix one of their fics. There is a set range of Marvel fandoms,characters, relationships, and additonal tags you can chose from to help AO3 to match you, plus optional tags and an extra info box. The more information you provide, the better your match should be!

You will then make one OFFER for a fic of yours to be remixed by someone else. What you select here should reflect the tags/content of the fics you have published on AO3 as much as possible. Again, the more information you provide, the better the matching should be!

By joining this exchange, by default you are offiering up any of your fics listed on AO3 within Marvel for remix. In the details/description section you can list:
- any additional fics/fandoms you have written where you are also happy for these to be considered for remix (please include fandom, characters, and other tags from these in the 'optional tags')
- any Marvel fics that you don't want to be considered for remix (no reason required), as long as this still leaves AT LEAST 3 Marvel fics available for remix

A reminder that Recathon is still open until MIDNIGHT GMT THIS FRIDAY. As it's the last week we've reached the bonus free for all - you can still keep making requests and replying to them, bht now you can also rec anything that you like. Love it? Rec it!

And once the Recathon is finished we're looking to do a remix exchange. This post is what we we mean by a remix, although this time we're planning to use AO3 and make it a bit broader.

If you'd be interested in taking part please let us know in the comments to give us a rough idea of numbers. We'd also like you to us know long you'd like it to run for? Usually we look at 6-8 weeks for an exchange; is that still good in the current climate or would you like it to be shorter? And anything else you'd like us to consider!

Hi folks, it's a strange old world we live in at the moment. We hope this community be a bit of sunshine for you lovely lot - with support, a morale boost, and fandom fun. We'd already had a chat about fun things to do as a community and this seems like a very good time to get started!

ONGOING: running alongside all of this we'll also restarting weekly ATTFs (All The Things Friday) - a chat/game/challenge started on a Friday that lasts until the following week. For a bit of fun and a natter :) ANYONE can host an ATTF. GO HERE to sign up, so we can avoid any clashes, or to make suggestions.

The next big events we have in the calendar are THE BLACK WIDOW FILM in May, the comm annibirthday also in May, and the big summer promptathon. Until then the comm is looking a little quiet so we're asking you: what would you like to see here in the next few months?

Past events have included an AU exchange, a hometown fic challenge, a remix exchange, last year's Fix-It Fest, and smaller events like recathons, unfinished fic and writing chats, three sentence prompts... and as ever we're open to new ideas!

Marvel Big Bang starts posting this month, from 14th October to 16th November. I for one am looking forward to lots of lovely long Marvel fics with shiny art works.

Yuletide 2019 nominations are open (closing 9am UTC 11th October) celebrating rare fandoms and characters.

The latest is that we're doing an Avengers Endgame Fix-it Fest and you can sign up on AO3 until 10 June 7am GMT!

(When that wraps up we'll sail into the big summer promptathon...)

We've also been reviving the ATTFs since Endgame has given our corner of the fandom a boost. Look out for a post about recs coming this Friday! And if you would like to host or suggest ideas for ATTFs you can do that here! Reminder that All The Things Fridays aren't just for Fridays - unless there's some kind of challenge deadline they run all weekend, or longer until we run out of steam :)

Plus don't forget you don't have to wait until an ATTF if you have things relevant to our interests to share with the comm - you can post your fics, recs, headcannons, pretty pictures, fan vids, and ANYTHING with Clint and/or Natasha in it both to this DW comm and to our comm tumblr. (That means anything with Clint/Natasha or both of them in any combination, or with either of them in regardless of who they're paired with, or gen things.)

In the wider world, they appear to be filming the Black Widow movie (it'll take me until I'm actually sat in the cinema and the title credits appear for me to believe it *grins*), Spider-Man: Far From Home is due out in July, and author sign ups have just closed for Marvel Big Bang 2019 but artist sign ups are still open until September.

Current thinking is:
> that this would be along the lines of an exchange matching people primary against the character relationships and type of fix-it (ie. time travel, post-canon fix-it, AU canon-divergence, other, not a fix-it) that people would like
> inclusive but if matching fails for the default requirement to be Gen Clint and/or Natasha
> inclusive of all fix-its but the focus/aim to be fixing Natasha's end in Avengers Endgame
> sign ups to be in June, assignments due late July
> to be run on AO3 with participants (and non-participants) able to add additional fills and gifts for the community if they choose

Hi All, well we've made it through January but it's still freezing (up here in the Northern Hemisphere anyway!) so stay wrapped up warm and read some steamy fanfic.

If you're looking for something to do whilst you're snuggled up at home we've been reviving All The Things Fridays (ATTFs), which is basically a post that goes up on a Friday that kicks off a weekend-long party (or longer if we're enjoying ourselves). This can be a call for recs, discussion, picspams, meta, thinky thoughts, mini challenges, or ANYTHING that you'd like to see on this comm. Look out for tomorrow's installment! You can see what's coming up, sign up to host, and suggest ideas HERE.

As it's February, watch out for this year's edition of the Valentine's Mini Promptathon coming soon. We plan to open prompts on Friday 8th, have fills from Valentine's Day, and wrap things up on the 24th. Check out past years of fun in the valentine's tags.

Happy New Year folks!

It's the first Friday of the year and if you're looking for an ATTF we have a New Year's Party slowly getting started where we're chatting about creativie plans and things we're looking forward to in 2019.

In case you missed it, we also have a Secret Santa 2018 Masterlist with 13 new fanfics.

And if you've getting that, ugh, back to studying/work in cold January feeling, don't forget February is just around the corner, and that means a mini promptathon...

In comics there's a a new Black Widow #1 due out this month from writers Jen and Sylivia Soska and artist Flaviano (I don't know much about this one; comment with any news?). Meanwhile Hawkeye (both of them actually) is in West Coast Avengers, written by Kelly Thompson and issue 7 is artist Daniele Di Nicuolo (which is a touch comics!wacky at times but fun and I'm enjoying this one).

No Marvel films out this month, but if you enjoy Spider-Man and you haven't seen it already, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is good fun and does some interesting things with the animation imitating comics art.

Hopefully people are enjoying Ant-Man and the Wasp, now out in the US! A reminder to keep this a SPOILER FREE ZONE. We're not getting it until August 3rd in the UK and this article pretty much sums up my feelings on that! In the meantime, Black Panther is out on DVD so time for a re-watch.

In comics, Clint is still hanging out in Old Man Hawkeye (6 of 12 was out this week) and Natasha made an appearence in Countdown to Infinity War: Black Widow. I'm looking forward to August when Clint is getting a West Coast Avengers team together (including Kate and America), written by Kelly Thompson with art from Stefano Caselli.

And July means that the Summer Promptathon is on the way! Watch this space towards the end of the month...

Obviously first, the big one: Infinity War came out this April. Currently the comm as a whole is a spoiler free zone but if you want to discuss/squee/cry, please go to our dedicated post.

In the wider world: We've got another trailer for Ant Man and the Wasp which looks exactly as lighthearted and ridiculous as I was hoping for. AND two separate trailers for Deadpool 2 which looks EXCELLENT in my opinion, as well as Celine Dion doing the main music with a video which is honestly everything I hoped for. The Black Widow film is definitely maybe happening, and there's also something to do with a Venom film? But I wasn't really paying attention. In other news though, apparently five of the original six Avengers (so, minus Ruffalo) have got matching tattoos, which is just kinda really cute.

In comics, we got the conclusion to the Tales of Suspense Winter Soldier, Hawkeye and Black Widow story which was... well, I loved the banter, less the actual plot. And my god the art was ugly, but hey, that's just my opinion. Kelly Thompson's Hawkeye also concluded (boo!), though it was nominated for an Eisner (yay!) and the last issue implied Kate would be returning in August (double yay!). Also, Old Man Hawkeye continues to be a thing.

YESSSSS HELLO FEBRUARY, THE MONTH OF BLACK PANTHER.

Ahem.

Yes, so! February is upon us! It is soon Black Panther time! And also, soon time for our Valentines Mini Promptathon 2018! Are you excited? Are you ready and raring to go? The comm's been a little quiet recently, but perhaps you've been busy writing for Chocolate Box (chocolateboxcomm ), whose reveals are on the 14th? (I know that's what I've been doing anyhoo). Related to this, I'm thinking of trying to revive the B_C tumblr account, so if anyone has any suggestions relating to that, I'd be happy to hear them.

All The Things Friday: If you'd like to sign up to host ATTF, make suggestions, or just see what's coming next then this is the post for you.

And from around the internet: The Superbowl gave is another teaser for Infinity War, though still no Clint. :( We've also got trailers for Jessica Jones season 2 and the first look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel! We also got the 10 Years of the MCU photoshoot and character poster, which is quite something. Ten years!  Who'da thunk it. In the comics world, the fun and fantastic Hawkeye comic by Kelly Thompson has, unfortunately, been cancelled, but on the other hand, we have also been given some A+ Clint and Kate interactions, so I guess it even's out? (Spoiler: it does not even out). No news if Hawkeye (either of them) or Black Widow will get their own solo run any time soon, but there is the Old Man Hawkeye limited series, which is... a thing, I guess.
