Two Important announcements/questions:

The AO3 Collection

They've fixed the bug preventing everyone from using the 2012 Collection in the AO3 archive. If you'd like to go back in and edit your fic to add it to the collection (or if you haven't posted it on AO3 yet but would like to add it to the collection when you do, please use the following collection name):

Be_Compromised_Secret_Santa_Exchange_2012

(I recommend copy and pasting that phrase exactly, including the underscores.) It will show up on the auto-complete eventually, but someone at the archive is going to have to go in and adjust it, so it may be a few days. But I've tested it, and as long as you copy and paste that phrase exactly into the space for "Post to Collections/Challenges" it should work fine.

If you've previously added your fic to the parent collection (which should not be used for this year's submissions) "Be Compromised's Secret Santa Exchange" please go in and change the collection it's a part of. I think I got a message to everyone over on AO3 already in it but just in case.

Ebooks!

Our very own [livejournal.com profile] frea_o has offered to collect all of this year's Secret Santa submissions into an ebook for us (for the personal use of everyone on the comm, not for sale of course) - but we need to get everyone's permission to use their fic before we add it to the book. I've screened the comments for this post, but I need for everyone who wrote a fic (or fics) to please leave a comment letting us know if it's alright for her to use your work (with full credit/author's names etc).

Title: America (and back again), Chapter 1 from 5
Rating: Teen
Warnings: Minor violence (later chapter), swearing (probably all chapters), minor sexual content (later chapter)
Word Count: 1150

-Friedrich Durrenmatt

I didn't finish it in time for the Secret Santa, but will be posting chapters over the next couple of weeks. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lar_laughs for her wonderful betaing!

The reveals are all posted, and the master list is updated and current. If you see anything missing that you think should be in the master list, please please please let either myself or [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81 know ASAP so I can get it corrected.

The Numbers:

A total of 56 participants produced:

152 icons
102 Banners
58 fics
5 collages
4 wallpapers
1 original fan art
1 mix
1 vid

You guys are amazing.  :D

A note about AO3 posting archiving:

We are working on an AO3 collection, but it's NOT ready yet. When/if you go to post your work on AO3, you may find a collection listed as "Be Compromised's Secret Santa Exchange" please DO NOT select this collection. If you do, your work will show up on the archive as "Anonymous". That's meant to be the master collection, and we're having a bit of trouble getting the specific 2012 collection set up correctly. I've got a help ticket in with the site to try and get it worked out, and will let everyone know when it's up and running and we'll go from there.

You can go ahead and post your work there, you'll just need to go back in and edit the collection information later. Also, most everyone here is on AO3, and you can indicate when you post who a work is "gifted" to - if you have any questions about setting that up, please comment here and we'll try to help you out.

If you aren't sure how your giftee is listed on AO3, your best bet is probably to PM them here on LJ and see if they have an account there or a preference as to how they're listed.

And a final post from me today:

Hello all! Your graphics team for Secret Santa 2012 has been: [livejournal.com profile] daxcat79, [livejournal.com profile] frea_o, [livejournal.com profile] hermyfan, [livejournal.com profile] inkvoices, [livejournal.com profile] oresteia, and [livejournal.com profile] purely_distel. We’ve had a fantastic time getting to be creative for Secret Santa 2012 and we hope we’ve managed to add a sprinkle of shiny graphics to the festive proceedings!

We leave you with some things to celebrate the exchange: a bundle of icons for you, plus a whole heap of badges and banners! The banners come in two types: non-personalized and personalized. The non-personalized are as is, but the creators of the personalized banners are willing to add your username to those if you’d like. Please only ask for one personalized banner, please don’t expect an immediate response (although we do try our best!), and please contact the creator either in a comment to this post or by PM, whichever is their stated method. And for everything, please don’t hotlink and please do credit :)

a gift to you all behind the cut: thank you for taking part, for cheerleading, for supporting, and hope you all had a happy festive season )

08 January 2013 @ 08:24 pm
As part of the reveals for Secret Santa 2012 here’s a collection of all the gift banners in one place with their creators revealed. The original plan was maybe two of us making a handful of banners and then customizing them with the gift details. This turned into a whole team making a grand total of 60 gift banners, plus icons to kick the exchange off, graphics for the organisers, and (still to come) participation graphics! It's possible that we got carried away...in a glorious fashion :D

Feel free to use these banners if posting your gift elsewhere, or linking to your gift, and so on, but please remember to credit :)

Title: The Season’s Upon Us
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81 and [livejournal.com profile] cybermathwitch
Rating: PG
Warnings: Mild language
Pairings: Clint/Natasha; canon movie ‘verse pairings
Summary: Where Natasha gets a little of the green rage eyed monster, Clint is a little boy roaring for love and acceptance, and the team is together like a family.
Author Note: Since Christmas didn’t come for you, we brought it to you. I have no idea what your interests are but all for your hard work I had to try.

So all the fics are posted! Whee!!! :D

Reveals will be tomorrow, and I think there are still a few goodies in store, but all the gifts have been "unwrapped" so to speak and I'll be updating the master post soon for easier access.

Note: if you did a community gift - icons, fic, etc, please drop me a note in the comments here and I'll make sure to include it in the master post as well.

Title: snow / glass
Author: Koren M. ([livejournal.com profile] cybermathwitch)
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] anillogicalmind
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: language, moderate sexual content
Pairings: Clint/Natasha
Summary/Prompt Used: Snow makes her cold and makes her think of unattainable things, but are things really all that unattainable anymore?
Authors Notes: Many thanks to my two lovely betas who shall remain nameless until tomorrow.

Banner by [livejournal.com profile] frea_o

Snow through glass reminded her of whispered conversations that balanced on the edge of something more. )

Title: Cracking surface
Author: [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] renegadewriter8
Rating: Teen
Warnings: injuries and blood, nothing too explicit
Pairings: Clint/Natasha
Summary/Prompt Used: I took some creative liberty with prompts you listed and things you mentioned you like. What stuck with me was “Clint is oblivious” bit in your prompts – it was challenging because Clint is this guy who notices everything, but turns out there's one subtle thing he is oblivious about. (He's going to have his eyes opened, though).
Authors Notes: She'll be loyal to him, like a knife under his pillow, gun in his hand, arrow on his mind.

Banner by [livejournal.com profile] frea_o

(He'd seen her, across the rubble and the street, dodging bullets and throwing herself into the collapsing building after him, and then she'd found him and gripped his hand.) )

Title: Operation Cindy Lou Who (Or How the Avengers Saved Christmas)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] hermionerd
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] anillogicalmind
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Ridiculous amounts of dialogue, including some naughty language. Fluff. Extremely handwavey technology. Christmas written by an author who doesn’t celebrate it.
Pairings: Clint/Natasha, minor background Tony/Pepper
Summary/Prompt Used: The Avengers reunite, save Christmas, and definitely aren’t doing gifts this year. For the prompts: The rest of the team; I'd love to see how the other Avengers interpret an established C/N relationship -- can be one or all. and What gifts would Clint and Natasha get each other for Christmas? I'd also love to see it extended to the other avengers & Pepper etc. I’m not sure I followed either prompt very closely, but they were definitely great inspiration!
Authors Notes: [livejournal.com profile] anillogicalmind, I hope you enjoy this and had a wonderful holiday!

Banner by [livejournal.com profile] frea_o

I’m more worried about Stark on Christmas. )

Title: Half Forgotten Memories
Author: [livejournal.com profile] phdelicious
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] telaryn
Rating: PG
Warnings: none
Pairings: Clint/Natasha
Summary/Prompt Used: Angst and Crossovers
Authors Notes: Because every role Renner’s played is just another undercover mission for Clint Barton. Sorry, this got done a little late and has nothing to do with the holidays. It does have everything to do with trying to capture the mood of the wallpapers. This may end up with another chapter or two after the reveal. Thank you to my beta who did a fabulous job and will be named after the reveal.

Title: along the heart-lines of this land
Author: [livejournal.com profile] sweetwatersong
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] toscaterrier
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Assassinations, suicide, sensuality.
Pairings: Clint/Natasha.
Summary/Prompt Used: AU? I'm a huge sucker for AUs, especially zombie, genderbend, steampunk, and crossover AU-type things. Ooh, and my brain just went 'space/time travel AU' as well, so that would be really awesome.
Things I like: Can 'general badassery' be a thing? I love it when it's remembered that hey, these are assassins, and hey, they kill people. Keeping their personalities in spite of that... is one of my favorite things about this pairing.
Authors Notes: Thank you to my wonderful beta, who hasn't told me that I'm crazy... yet. Tosca, I hope you enjoy it!

Title: The Charlie Browniest
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kadollan
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] dictator_duck
Rating: Gen
Warnings: Schmoop, Salvation Army Santas, Gratuitous Peanuts, Extemporaneous Philosophy
Pairings: Clint/Natasha
Summary/Prompt Used: I combined two of your prompts, dear [livejournal.com profile] dictator_duck, so I offer you the one where Steve and Natasha are friends and Clint insists on a movie marathon.
Authors Notes: I really enjoyed writing this -- I love team fic -- where the Avengers work, live and bump along together, figuring out how to make it work. I very much hope that you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Title: Many Happy Returns
Author: [livejournal.com profile] tielan
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] quiet_rebel
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None
Pairing: Clint/Natasha
Summary/Prompt Used: birthdays and karaoke
Author's Notes: I sincerely apologise for this. I was trying for angst to the max, and then it just wouldn’t work the way I wanted to! I ended up having to go for fluffy-ish. But I did manage to work birthdays in there at least!

Title: It Seemed Like A Good Idea
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lar_laughs
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] franztastisch
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: deception and lies
Pairings: Clint/Natasha, implied Tony/Pepper and Jane/Thor
Summary/Prompt Used: Rock Star AU (and there will be dancing!) - No one knows anything about Natalie Rushman that the musician doesn’t want them to know. Every reporter wants the real story but none of them have figured out how to break through her security. It’s a good thing that Clint knows how to drive a touring bus because it’s gotten him that much closer to the group of important people that surround the singer. Now all he has to do is keep from falling in love.
Authors Notes: Dearest, [livejournal.com profile] franztastisch, time ran faster than the words. This is only HALF the story. The other will be to you by the end of the month!

Title: First Meetings Only Happen Twice (Or More)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] book_junkie007
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] lizardbeth_j
Rating: PG
Warnings: Mild references to violence
Pairings: Clint, Natasha (can be read as gen or relationship implied); Clint-centric
Summary/Prompt Used: This is sort of a combination of mission and first time prompts, but it also morphed into something that I didn’t expect. I hope you like where I went with this.
Authors Notes: Many thanks to my beta, who gave me important feedback. Also thanks to this bar, both for being patient with me, and for being so awesome.

06 January 2013 @ 10:39 pm
Title: Night and Day
(jewel thief/noir AU)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] workerbee73 and [livejournal.com profile] bob5fic
(Organizers' Note: This was an emergency pinch hit, and we okayed co-authoring so everything could get done on time. :) )
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] rollingplains
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Natasha Romanoff/Clint Barton
Summary/Prompt Used: Take one infamous jewel thief, one jaded bounty hunter, add a side of banter, a complicated past and a generous helping of UST and what do you get? According to Phil Coulson, the world’s biggest headache.
Warnings: Canon levels of violence, mild language, non-explicit sexual references, vague references to past abuse.
Author's Notes: This fic was written to fill the prompts of "anything UST + finally get together." Which made me think of banter. Which made me think of classic films. Which made me think of screwball comedies and noir. Which led to this. Title comes from the song, "Night and Day," lyrics and music by Cole Porter.

Title: Chasing the Light (2/2)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] sarea_okelani
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] ittykat
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None, really.
Pairings: Clint Barton/Natasha Romanoff
Summary/Prompt Used: A mission that goes awry tests two assassins and their partnership.

Prompt: Someone is hurt badly/quite sick and medical assistance is not readily available. The other person has to make tough decisions. I also used elements of my giftee's two other prompt proposals.

Authors Notes: Written for the be_compromised Secret Santa exchange. Thanks go out to four lovely ladies: Anuna and Koren M for running the fabulous exchange, and my two betas, Jade and Adelagia. Without Jade, I don’t know if this story would have gotten written. Parts of this story gave me fits while writing, and being a procrastinator extraordinaire, whenever I encounter a roadblock I tend to avoid writing altogether. But she gave me daily writing assignments and encouragement, and little by little, it got done. Adelagia helped me remove one of those early roadblocks. I could not, for the life of me, figure out a way to do what I wanted to do, and on one of our foodie trips up to Vancouver we talked it through and she helped me find a solution. Hurrah! Of course, that’s on top of the beta duties they both took on after the story was done. I am truly blessed to have two such good friends who allow me to abuse them in this manner! :D
