02 January 2014 @ 07:54 pm
Happy New Year 2014, bestest bar in the world! As you can see, the new-old shiny at the top of the comm is sixteen by [livejournal.com profile] allisnow. I think it's pretty clear that the bar likes your style, sunshine :D Close runners up were seven by [livejournal.com profile] whiskyinmind and six by [livejournal.com profile] zenni. You can see all our banners that weren't at the top of our comm last year HERE now accredited to their creators (but the voting part is done, sorry).

If you have any opinions or thinky thoughts on what you might like a possible 2014 banner challenge to look like, and if you even want one this year, please let us know here. (At the moment people seem to be thinking they'd like it monthly if we get enough entries or less if we don't, and with only 8 comments on that post out of a bar of over 800 memembers...not so much interest?)

We also have a new ATTF sign up and ideas post for 2014, just to give that a boost so it doesn't get lost amongst all the Secret Santa goodnes :)

..which we hope you're having fun with!

18 December 2013 @ 11:45 pm
“But now that I’ve submitted my Secret Santa gift what on earth do I do whilst waiting for them to start posting?” I hear you ask. Well one of things you can do is head on over to our Banner Challenge 2013 Review Post and (pretty please) let us know what you’d like to see (if anything) next year. And you can be voting on what banner you’d like to see to start 2014:

Theme: second chances, or making a different call

Here be a post of all the banners from 2013’s challenge that didn’t get to be at the top of our community, and now you get to choose one to kick off 2014 – a reminder of how good the last year has been as we move forward into the next :)

How To Vote: Choose three banners and list them in order. Your first choice will get 3 points, your second two points, and your third 1 points. The banner with the most points will be our new banner!

If you have problems uploading this post as too image heavy, feel free to go to the banner challenge 2013 tag and then just comment to this post with Banner NUMBER from MONTH instead for each of your three choices.

Voting Deadline: Midnight (your own timezone - you can't miss it!) 31st December

You might remember who made some of these (or all of them if you have a really good memory, or look back at this year’s banner challenge) but I’m going to let you wonder and add their creators’ names after voting has finished. Huge amounts of thanks and praise to everyone who’s taken part – you made a hell of a lot of pretties!

BANNERS BEHIND THE CUT )

01 December 2013 @ 10:38 pm
For our December Banner Challenge thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] lycomingst for Banner One and [livejournal.com profile] allisnow for the winning Banner Two. Lovely work, and at the last minute too, THANK YOU :D

And that concludes 2013's Community Banner Challenge. We've seen some amazing graphics work that has brightened up our comm and made us all smile. It's been fantastic! Thank you very much to everyone who's taken part, be that by making banners (some of you for the first time even) or voting. Take a look behind the cut to see all of the banners that graced the top of our community this year, plus the runners-up adapted for our promptathons:

A YEAR OF WONDERFUL COMMUNITY BANNERS )

Keep your eyes peeled later in the month for when we also take a look back at the banners that didn't make it to the top of the community and a chance to vote for one of the ones that got away to be our January 2014 banner!

In the meantime, we want to hear from you about the 2014 Banner Challenge. Like, for example, do you want there to be one? Would you like it to be monthly again, or bi-monthly, four times a year, another number of times? Suggestions for themes and challenges (because we could do with those!)? Banner makers, voters, everyone in this bar that has to look at the thing at the top of our comm everytime you arrive here; what do you think?

27 November 2013 @ 10:51 pm
Huge amounts of thanks to our two banner makers who have made us shiny things for our December banner challenge, which was to create something seasonal and befitting our upcoming Secret Santa. You know the drill: check out the wonderful and get voting! Deadline is 6pm GMT Sunday 1st December to give you some time.

BANNERS BEHIND THE CUT )

To vote: comment on this post with the number of the banner you’d like to win at the top of your comment as a word and in capital letters eg. NINE If you want to say anything else in your comment (praise, questions, whatever) please do that as a new paragraph, or leave a line or something, so that there’s no confusion over which banner you’re voting for. Thanking you!

We had some wonderfully colourful banners: thanks and awe go to [livejournal.com profile] jacedesbff for Banner One, [livejournal.com profile] endeni for Banner Three, and [livejournal.com profile] allisnow for our November Banner, Banner Two!

December Challenge: You possibly saw this one coming, but this month's challenge is to create something seasonal and befitting our upcoming Secret Santa. This could be Christmassy or other holiday season or New year, it could be cold or warm weather, interpret as you will!

December Deadline: Monday 25th November

Here’s how the banner challenge works: we set you a theme on the first of each month. People then make banners and comment with them to that month’s post – all comments will be screened; comments without banners in them will then be unscreened. (I can’t reply to the comments with banners in them without unscreening them, so anything you want a response to needs to be in a separate comment.) Banners will then all be saved to the community’s photobucket, so don’t worry about hotlinking or broken links. There will be a limit for sending banners in, something like two to three weeks. Then we’ll post all of the banners anonymously and everyone in the community can vote for their favourite (including the makers, but you do only get one vote each). That new banner is then our banner for the following month. Hopefully we’ll keep enough interest to be able to this monthly!

The Rules:
1) Everyone is invited to play, seriously, everyone, the more the merrier!
2) Banners must be safe for work.
3) Banners must have a width of 800 and a height of 350 and preferably be a png or jpg file.
4) We will make your banners anonymous, so please don’t tell or show anyone what you’ve made. Once the winner has been chosen though you’re free to share your banner wherever you like. (So, for example, if you make a banner for August’s challenge you’ll be free to do whatever you like with it from August 1st.)
5) When new films etc come out (Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Agents of SHIELD) please don’t use images from those until we say it’s safe so no one gets spoiled! (If you want to use something and you're not sure if it counts as a spoiler, PM me.)
6) You can submit no more than 3 banners (for now).
7) Banners should contain both Clint and Natasha (unless challenged otherwise).

As stated, all comments to this post will be screened. Comments that don’t contain banners will be unscreened. So feel free to ask questions, give us feedback, and all that jazz :)

28 October 2013 @ 10:29 pm
Your November challenge was colour - as colourful as possible, be that containing lots of colours or really bright and cheerful. For this month's challenge banners could contain other characters as well, but had to contain our two assassins. Sunglasses on and then check out the gorgeous graphics behind the cut! Deadline for voting is Midnight GMT Thursday 31st October.

COLOUR EXPLOSION BEHIND THE CUT )

To vote: comment on this post with the number of the banner you’d like to win at the top of your comment as a word and in capital letters eg. 01 October 2013 @ 11:14 pm
Thanks and praise to our October banner makers: [livejournal.com profile] wizbey with Banner Two, [livejournal.com profile] lycomingst with Banner Three, and [livejournal.com profile] allisnow with our creepy blue-eyed stare banner for this month. Great variety and fantastic work, thank you!

November Challenge: November 5th in my part of the world is Bonfire Night, where we celebrate the Houses of Parliament not getting blown up back in the day with bonfires and fireworks. It's a fun splash of colour when the days start getting dark around here. So for this month your challenge is: colour. Make a banner that's as colourful as possible, that contains lots of colours or is just really bright and cheerful. Let there be fireworks, flowers, flames, rainbows, or paintboxes - go for it!

November Deadline: Sunday 27th October

Annnnd the usual stuff, but with 7 as an amendment, that all banners should contain both assassins unless the challenge asks otherwise. For this month's challenge the banner can also contain other characters as well if you like, but it must contain our two assassins.

Edit 2: on spoilers

Here’s how the banner challenge works: we set you a theme on the first of each month. People then make banners and comment with them to that month’s post – all comments will be screened; comments without banners in them will then be unscreened. For the month of October we challenged the bar to make some Halloween themed banners, from spooky fun, to the supernatural, to Master Assassins being their competent scary selves! Feast your eyes on these, and remember to vote by Midnight GMT Monday 30th September.

I can now reveal that Banners One, Three, and Four were by [livejournal.com profile] allisnow, and Banner Two was by [livejournal.com profile] cybermathwitch, with Banner Three being our new Community Banner for September! Thank you for the pretties :D

We've been a bit thin on the ground with both banner makers and voters for the last few months. Thank you to everyone who's taken part, and here's hoping people are less busy in September and we see more of the bar this time around!

October’s Challenge: The general theme for this month is Halloween, but you could go with any number of interpretations - a Halloween holiday theme, supernatural style or AU, dark and scary, our assassins being their competent terrifying selves...from spooky fun to scary frights.

October Deadline: You have until Tuesday 24th September to submit your banners.

Here’s how the banner challenge works: we set you a theme on the first of each month. People then make banners and comment with them to that month’s post – all comments will be screened; comments without banners in them will then be unscreened. 28 August 2013 @ 10:34 pm
Huge thanks and free drinks at the bar to this months banner makers, who saved us, in extra time, from a month of no banner challenge entries! Because the challenge was extended there's not much time to vote this month - the deadline for voting is Midnight GMT Saturday 31st August. The theme this time was peace or peaceful, to tie in with the International Day of Peace in September:

I can now reveal that Banner One, Banner Two, and Banner Three were by [livejournal.com profile] allisnow, and Banner Four and Banner Five were by [livejournal.com profile] endeni, with Banner One being our new Community Banner for August! Thank you for taking part, especially in the crazy month of promptathon, it's really appreciated and all of your banners were gorgeous :D

We're back to our usual challenge format this month with a shiny new theme for you. Enjoy!

September’s Challenge: September 21st is the International Day Of Peace, so peace and peaceful are this month’s theme.

September Deadline: You have until Friday 23rd August to submit your banners.

27 July 2013 @ 07:39 pm
August's challenge was a prompting challenge. Thanks and free drinks in the bar for everyone who left prompts and submitted banners! The deadline for voting is Midnight GMT Wednesday 31st July. Which one would you like to see at the top of the comm next month?

BANNERS BEHIND THE CUT )

To vote: comment on this post with the number of the banner you’d like to win at the top of your comment as a word and in capital letters eg. 01 July 2013 @ 08:56 pm
Wow, choosing July’s banner was difficult with so many gorgeous graphics! As evidenced by the very close voting! I can now reveal that: banner one, banner two, and banner three were by [livejournal.com profile] allisnow, banner four and banner eight were by [livejournal.com profile] slytheringurrl, banner five was by [livejournal.com profile] endeni, and banner six and banner seven were by [livejournal.com profile] jacedesbff. And July’s banner is BANNER TWO! Thank you all for the pretties :D

And now for an extra special edition of our Community Banner Challenge. Keep reading, because we’re not just going to need graphics makers for this one. We’re going to need everyone, with your ideas hats on, because August (in a tease for other things to come) is PROMPTING MONTH.

August’s Challenge: In honour of another prompting type thing coming soon (keep your eyes peeled!) here’s how this month’s challenge is going to work: anyone and everyone can leave as many prompts as they like, a prompt being something they’d like to see in a banner, a certain style of banner, a song lyric, absolutely anything. Banners do have to contain Clint and Natasha, although they can contain other people as well, and they do need to be safe for work. You can post as many prompts as you like, but please post each prompt in it’s own separate comment. These comments will automatically be screened and your mods will unscreen them.

Banner makers will then post their banners in comments as responses to these prompts, in the usual manner, and these comments will remain screened until after voting to keep things anonymous so you won’t see a response to your prompts until after a banner for August has been chosen. FOR ONE MONTH ONLY, banner makers, there’s no limit for the amount of banners that you can make.

August Deadline: You can post prompts from now up until Sunday 21st July. Banners can be posted from now until Friday 26th July. (Then voting will be until Midnight GMT Wednesday 31st July. If we have many, many banners there may be rounds of voting or something. Watch this space.)

And the usual info:

Here’s how the banner challenge works: we set you a theme on the first of each month. People then make banners and comment with them to that month’s post – all comments will be screened; comments without banners in them will then be unscreened. (I can’t reply to the comments with banners in them without unscreening them, so anything you want a response to needs to be in a separate comment.) 23 June 2013 @ 05:57 pm
The challenge for July was to make a banner with the focus being on EITHER Clint OR Natasha. The other assassin needed to be on there somewhere, but not as the focus; either in the background or in the thoughts of the assassin chosen as the focus. The deadline for voting is Midnight GMT Sunday 30th June. We have lots to chose from this month, and they're all so very, very pretty!

It was a close one this month, but by one vote Banner One by [livejournal.com profile] daxcat79 is June's banner for the top of the comm! I can reveal that Banner Two and Four were by [livejournal.com profile] jacedesbff and Banner Three by [livejournal.com profile] endeni. Thank you for the pretties!

5) When new films come out (Iron Man 3, Thor 2) please don’t use images from those until we say it’s safe so no one gets spoiled!
6) You can submit no more than 3 banners (for now).

July's Challenge: It's Independence Day in the US, the home of the Avengers, so for this month we're giving our assassins some solo time - you're challenged to make a banner with the focus being on EITHER Clint OR Natasha. The other assassin needs to be on their somewhere, but they're not the focus, either on the background or in the thoughts of who you're chosen to take point. (And since you can make up to three banners, why not take a shot at both?)

July Deadline: You have until Sunday 23rd June to comment to this post with your banners or links to your banners.

As stated, all comments to this post will be screened. Comments that don’t contain banners will be unscreened. So feel free to post banners, ask questions, give us feedback, and all that jazz :)

June’s banner challenge was about using negative and positive space, since June 21st is the longest or shortest day of the year (depending on where you live). We have three negative space banners and one positive space banner to choose from. The deadline for voting is Midnight GMT Friday 31st May. Which one would you like at the top of our comm next month?

For our May Community Challenge it was a battle between steamy and geeky, and I can now reveal that this time geeky was the mood of the bar *grins* and our new banner is from [livejournal.com profile] laughtersmelody! Banner Two with its steamy goodness was by [livejournal.com profile] endeni :)

Are you all ready for the June Challenge?

6) You can submit no more than 3 banners (for now).

June’s Challenge: We have the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest day in the Southern Hemisphere on June 21st – we will have made it halfway through the year, go us :D And so this month’s challenge is around use of space: you can either fill the entire banner space with an image/images, using all of the available space, or you can do a negative space effect, with a tiny amount of the banner being image and the rest blank/a stylistic background/text/what have you. (Or, since you can make up to three banners you could take a shot at both!)

June Deadline: You have until Sunday 26th May to comment to this post with your banners or links to your banners.

As stated, all comments to this post will be screened. Comments that don’t contain banners will be unscreened. So feel free to post banners, ask questions, give us feedback, and all that jazz :)

We have two brilliant entries for the Community Banner Challenge to admire and love this month. There were two choices of theme this time: 1) ‘Geekery’ and 2) ‘Where's your towel?’ We got one of each :)

The deadline for voting is Midnight GMT on Tuesday 30th April. Enjoy the pretties!

(So, for example, if you make a banner for April’s challenge you’ll be free to do whatever you like with it from April 1st.)
5) When new films come out (Iron Man 3, Thor 2) please don’t use images from those until we say it’s safe so no one gets spoiled!
6) You can submit no more than 3 banners (for now).

May’s Challenge: We have the Glorious 25th May (from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld) which is also Towel Day (from Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy) and Geek Pride Day, phew! There are two options for this month’s challenge: 1) ‘Geekery’ interpret as you will 2) ‘Where's your towel?’ which is make a banner a little…hotter than our usual fair, although still safe for work please :) Remember, you can make up to three banners each so feel free to take a shot at both options!

May Deadline: You have until Tuesday 23rd April to comment to this post with your banners or links to your banners.

As stated, all comments to this post will be screened. Comments that don’t contain banners will be unscreened. So feel free to post banners, ask questions, give us feedback, and all that jazz :)

It's that time again, folks: time to vote for next month's community banner! We have three fun entries for April's theme of 'foolish' in honor of April Fool's Day - we asked for the crack, the crazy, the daft, the silly, the fun, and the bizarre, and we got it. The deadline for voting is Midnight GMT on Sunday 31st March. Remember, everyone can vote (and please do!) but only one vote per person.
