TITLE: Similar to a Piece of String
RATING: G
WORDS: 1751
CHARACTERS: Natasha, Clint, Nick Fury, OCs
WARNING: N/A
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81's idea of Nick Fury playing babysitter. Set a nebulous point in the future.
SUMMARY: Greeting Clint were two texts from Natasha.

Work called, taking His Highness with me into the office. Collect him on your way home? – H

Fury's minding John until further notice – H

He texted back seriously?, because that was exactly what he was thinking.

[Or: Natasha is called into work and takes the baby with her, Fury offers to mind the aforementioned baby, and Clint is just plain confused.]

Oh my god. I'm not sure how it ended up being a month. (I'm lying to you, I know exactly how, it's called NaNoWriMo, and remind me never to do both that and an active WIP AT THE SAME TIME EVER AGAIN plskthnx). But I am so, so sorry it took so long.

Thank you as always to [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81 and [livejournal.com profile] kadollan for looking this over, and to [livejournal.com profile] sunny_serenity for general cheerleading and thoughts and music! And thank you to everyone who's left such awesome feedback. I really <3 the discussions and meta and I always love to hear what you think about it. :D

Big things are happening for everyone here. You've been warned. And we're about to earn that adult rating, so children, avert your eyes. (Oh c'mon, like you didn't know this was going to be "the" chapter? You're not fooling me. That also might be one of the reasons it took so long... talk about performance anxiety. Ahem.)

Holy moly, LJ has changed since the last time I was here. I barely recognize it.

Anywhoo, I saw that the James Gunn petition got posted here and I wanted to let you know that
a) *waves* I kinda started it and I love all your support.
b) James Gunn issued a legitimate apology. (I think it's legitimate anyway, he sounds pretty sincere)

A couple of years ago I wrote a blog that was meant to be satirical and funny. In rereading it over the past day I don't think it's funny. The attempted humor in the blog does not represent my actual feelings. However, I can see where statements were poorly worded and offensive to many. I'm sorry and regret making them at all.

People who are familiar with me as evidenced by my Facebook page and other mediums know that I'm an outspoken proponent for the rights of the gay and lesbian community, women and anyone who feels disenfranchised, and it kills me that some other outsider like myself, despite his or her gender or sexuality, might feel hurt or attacked by something I said. We're all in the same camp, and I want to do my best to make this world a better place for all of us. I'm learning all the time. I promise to be more careful with my words in the future. And I will do my best to be funnier as well. Much love to all - James

perspective: a science in optics. a technique of depicting volumes and spatial relationships on a flat surface. the state of one's ideas, the facts known to one, etc., in having a meaningful interrelationship. a way of regarding situations, facts, etc, and judging their relative importance.

this is your All the Things Friday post.

so technically the SHIELD pool on the are they/aren't they won the poll but that may be a subject matter a bit too narrow. i'm widening it to mean Third Person POV because REASONS. it's easy to dissect and study, to break down seemingly insignificant components to their basest of parts with a detachment. the outside view of what is gives scope and understanding to the overall picture, broad strokes that set the canvas. but, every once in a while, you pick up on a tiny little detail that is of the utmost substance. be it gesture, a meaningful look, a pregnant pause, degrees of separation or the rhythms of movement. they all become the basis of supposition. we form a hypothesis. we speak in conjecture. we dissect the minutia. we assume. we invest. it's a feeling we're all familiar with and you're totally lying if you claim to have never formed an opinion on things. everyone does. it's part of our nature. we like to discuss things that fascinate and capture us.

it gets much more involved when we find like minded people who hold the same beliefs that we do. it evolves into a fever pitch of imagination where we surmise and speculate. often times it devolves into a betting pool just so the victor can gloat in their correctness. this is what i want from you: i want you to deduce, theorise, posit, judge, infer, presume and ascertain various and sundry scenarios of how others view the super sexy spies and their relationship. i want coulson's thought process of forming this team and why he thought this would work. i want nick fury storming around the helicarrier yelling, 'THIS IS WHY WE HAVE FRAT REGS!'. i want maria hill split on odds and giving herself a fifty/fifty chance of winning the pot. i want galaga guy betting on clint to break first. i want thor admiring comrades in arms. i want steve filing everyone out of the room so they can 'talk' about what happened in the field. i want bruce begrudging their intimacy because he misses betty so much. i want tony seeking advice on 'how do you make her NOT mad at you?'. i want erik playing the should be wisened relationship expert, emphasis on the 'should be'. i want pepper scheduling an enforced decontamination scenario because obviously an intervention needs to take place. i want darcy throwing up her hands in frustration and yelling, 'OMG YOU LOVE EACH OTHER! STOP BEING STUPID AND CAN WE PLEASE HAVE CAKE NOW?'

in short bless this comm with all your 3rd Person POVs, please? GO FORTH. ASK FOR HELP COMPLETING YOUR THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE. WRITE. DISCUSS. PROMPT. REC. BE AWESOME!

So, it doesn't quite fit the Third Person POV parameters for today's Friday Things (although on re-reading, maybe it does...?).  But [livejournal.com profile] sunny_serenity insisted, so here it is ...  (Loosely based on a Star Trek fic I once read, eons ago -- alas can't remember title or author.)

So I'm watching the movie S.W.A.T. because of reasons. (Hawkeye is undercover. Or training. Or some such...)

And there's a commercial for a thing I've never heard of before. Fatheads.

So I Google it. Like you do.

And discover these:

I feel the sudden urge to redecorate...
