Secret Santa assignments have now all been sent out! If you haven't received yours please check your emails to ensure it isn't in your spam folder and that you've set your account up to accept messages from be_compromised@hotmail.com If it isn't hiding anywhere then please comment to this post and let me know right now.

Thank you to everyone for replying to the choices post. I've managed to match everyone up to one of their picks, so hopefully you'll all have fun! Please remember to keep the person you're writing for secret until the reveals at the end of the exchange and if any problems crop up please let a mod know as soon as possible, thank you.

Volunteering

If you'd like to volunteer to help out with Secret Santa - which you can do regardless of whether or not you're participating in the exchange - please comment below if you're interested in being a:

+ Graphics Maker to 1) make participation banners and icons, encouragement graphics, a master list banner etc, which you can do any time and 2) to make banners for every gift, a special thing we do here for Secret Santa. For banners: participants have comment on the final submissions post with a 'banner blurb' to give us some ideas by the deadline, I email out banner assignments, and we have two weeks to ge them made.

+ Pinch Hitter to stand by in case of emergency. We will be automatically assigning pinch hitters to anyone who doesn’t submit their gift by the deadline of December 4th. We will let you know as soon as a pinch hit is needed, so either when the deadline has passed or earlier if people let us know in advance that they’re dropping out. If people then do manage to submit their gift by an agreed extension your pinch-hit would be assigned as a gift to the community as a whole, but no less appreciated! Deadlines for pinch hits are negotiable but ideally by Decembe 17th.

If this sounds like something you’d like to do please comment to this post with:

+ Beta Reader to help out our writers! To make things friendly and easy, if you’d like to offer your beta reading skills for someone’s Secret Santa fic please comment to this post saying BETA VOLUNTEER and a bit about your style and strengths as a beta reader.

For participants, if you’re unsure of how to approach a beta reader remember it’s a creative exchange. Beta readers do it for the fun of it and to help you :) And if either of you think that the other’s style isn’t for you that’s absolutely fine and you can part ways with a smile. You might want to tell your prospective beta reader: how long your fic is, your deadline (if other than December 4th), the rating and any warnings or triggers, what you’re stuck on if there’s something specific or even general like you’re worried about your grammar or an action scene.

+ Cheerleader to comment, squee, join in, get excited, and make this comm the place it is! You could team up with participants to encourage them along, get discussions going, post fanworks and recs to the comm to keep our spirits up, or just comment with positivity, whatever you like. It's all appreciated!

To all our volunteers: THANK YOU!
To all our bar: have fun and enjoy!
