It’s time for Secret Santa, 10th Anniversary Edition!

For those of you who haven’t done our Secret Santa Exchange before, we run this a little differently so please read this post carefully and follow the instructions. Thank you!

This is a fic exchange where you sign up with ideas/prompts for what kind of gift you’d like, then in a second Choices Post you need to choose what idea/prompt gift you'd like to give. Then everyone gets a gift and makes a gift, and it's all anonymous until reveals at the end.

This post is to sign up to take part in the exchange. If you would like to be a pinch hitter instead or as well please go here. We also welcome graphics makers, beta readers, and cheerleaders!

We are not accepting community gifts, stocking fillers, or non-participant fills etc as part of this exchange (because we're only a small mod team and it's a lot to juggle!). If you would like to post any fics, art, or other creations to the Comm in the run up to the holiday season or during Secret Santa fanworks are always very welcome! However, if you are inspired by prompts from the Secret Santa exchange we would ask you to please post those after the exchange has finished.


RULES

1) The usual community rules apply.

2) We’re a Clint and/or Natasha community that welcomes all things Marvel, including other characters and pairings (and threesomes or moresomes). For this exchange at least ONE of your prompts MUST focus on Clint and/or Natasha or be a generic prompt. This could be Natasha and/or Clint, individually or as friends, lovers, spouses, partners, or in gen fic. This is to make sure your gift giver has at least one prompt where they’re familiar with the characters.

3) Fics must be a MINIMUM of 1,000 words and a MAXIMUM of 10,000 words.

4) You DON'T have to be a member of the community to join in the exchange and you don't have to be on DW. You DO need to be able to comment using OpenID or anonymously. Please provide an online handle if you if you haven’t added yourself to the community’s Username Database.

5) This is an anonymous exchange, so don’t reveal who your giftee is until after the reveals!

TROUBLESHOOTING RULES

If at any point during this exchange you feel you won’t be able to submit your gift by the deadline please let us know straight away - contact inkvoices or franztastisch by email, the community email, discord, or PM. We don’t yell, we just want to make sure that everyone who participates gets a gift.

To keep things fair, for participants, pinch-hitters, and your mods, if you don’t submit by the deadline a pinch-hitter will automatically be assigned. If you then submit a completed fic by an extension date that you have agreed with a mod, the pinch-hit will become a community gift. If you don’t submit by the extension date then your fic will not be posted as part of the exchange and the gift for you will be reassigned as a community gift. We’ll still love you, but please be considerate of your fellow bar members and mods – unlike Santa’s elves your mods can’t work logistical magic.

TO TAKE PART IN THE EXCHANGE

To take part please copy and paste the sign up form into a comment and fill it in. Instructions are behind the cut.

Comments are screened to keep them anonymous. After the sign up deadline we will anonymise all of your requests and post them to the comm in a Choices Post. You will then reply to that post with your top three picks of which requests you’d like to create for. (There will be more information on this in the Choices Post.)

We can't guarantee that you’ll get your choices, but we’ll use them to match you up as best we can and will keep to your choices as much as possible! Please feel free to include lots of information in your sign up form; it actually makes it easier, both for matching and for whoever gets you as an assignment.

Once matching has been done you will receive your assignment by email. We’ll provide information closer to the time on how to submit your gifts, which will be by email to the community email address. Remember, this is an anonymous exchange!

TIMELINE

SIGN UP: from now until MIDNIGHT GMT Friday 15th October
CHOICES POST: will go up that weekend and be available until MIDDAY GMT Saturday 23rd October.
ASSIGNMENTS SENT OUT: we aim to have these to you within the following few days. (If all participants make their choices before 23rd October we will try to get assignments out earlier!)
SUBMISSION POST before the deadline we’ll post details to the Comm on how to submit your gift
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: MIDNIGHT (whatever your time zone) Sunday 12th December
GIFT POSTING: in the run up to Christmas!

Okay then, folks. HERE WE GO!

It takes a community to support an exchange! If you’d like to pinch hit for Secret Santa in addition to participating, or instead of participating, please comment to this post with the following:

Comments will be screened. If you have any questions please reply to the questions comments threat at the top and we will un-screen to reply.

We will be assigning pinch hitters to anyone who doesn't submit their gift by the deadline of Sunday 12th December (and for anyone who lets us know that they are dropping out earlier than that). If participants agree an extension date with mods and manage to submit by that agreed extension then your pinch hit will still be included in the exchange as a gift to the community and no less appreciated!

We will let you know as soon as a punch hit is needed. You will have at least a week to write; if we ask you to pinch hit for anyone who misses the 12th December deadline ideally we would like pinch hits by Monday 20th December.

There is no deadline to sign up for pinch hitting, but if you can give us an idea early on it will help your mods if we have any early drop outs or if we spot a pinch hit that we think you might particularly like to do.
