Clint and Natasha are slow-dancing as part of a cover, and Clint's bored of the standard jazz playing. So instead HE starts singing to Natasha.

Suppose Valentine’s day occurred during Captain America 2? Clint and Natasha are separated during Valentine’s Day because of the Winter Soldier mission, and Steve lends a helping hand of some kind.

+1 if Clint and Natasha got together after the Avengers movie, and this is their first Valentine’s day as a couple.

The motel Natasha chooses in Alexandria is tiny, grungy, and smells damp in a way that reminds Steve of the barracks during the rainy winter months. As bolt-holes go, he’s had worse, he supposes, especially considering that in the past couple hours they’ve managed to lose their ride, most of their weapons, and any semblance of tactical advantage. It’s been a long time since he’s felt quite so helpless in a fight, the shock of it bringing back memories of alleyways in Brooklyn, of battling his own lungs for breath.

Natasha leaves the drugstore where they’ve stopped for first-aid supplies a few hundred feet ahead of him, melting into the crowd as Steve follows. He waits a block up as he watches her duck inside the motel, trying to look nonchalant with his hands full of flowers and the cheap heart-shaped chocolates he’s bought to draw attention away from the blood spreading under his shirt.

“Room 216,” comes her voice through the comm in his ear after what feels like an impossibly long few minutes.

+1 if an established Avenger couple (ie Tony/Pepper, Thor/Jane) take part and decide to skip the romantic date they had planned because this is more fun!

Clint is determined to take Natasha out on a proper first date. Of course, this doesn't go according to plan.

“We’ve been partners for six years, Clint.”

“Yeah, so?”

“And this is the first time you have voluntarily offered to put on a suit for the sole purpose of eating in a restaurant. Well, the first time since that place in Soho, the one you felt so guilty about blowing up that time Sitwell and Carter tried to set us up on a date. Why?”

“The juggernaut of civilization finally rolled over me?”

Natasha suppresses a snort. “I wish. The socks I picked out of the microwave this morning tell me otherwise.”

“I was speed-drying them,” he explains unhelpfully, before coming back on topic. “Okay. The truth? I think we should go out on a proper date.”

“Why? You’ve been my friend almost as long as we’ve been partners, and now we get to sleep with each other, too. So who needs a date?”

“You do. Every woman does.” He clears his throat at the sight of her frown, and holds his hands up in the classic defensive posture. “Apparently. At least, so I’m told.”

Natasha raises an eyebrow. This ought to be good.

“Oh? By whom?”

coffee shop/bakery/restaurant AU: he/she fell in love with his/her coffee/baking/food first.

There are stories about couples and friends and groups of friends who exchange the same card every year for Valentines (or Christmas etc.) Until the cards are covered in signatures decades later, standing the test of time.

Write (or graphics!) a card or postcard, or a gift or token, that Clint and Natasha might (or might start) exchanging.

They have an avoiding-traditional-holidays traditional of hanging out at Clint's place. Watching whatever films float their boat and eating popcorn, or ordering pizza. This is the first time that Kate's joined them and it takes her a while to catch on to the fac that this isn't a Valentine's date and she's really not gatecrashing. (Bonus points if other characters join, or start to join, or come and go over the years.)

From an outsider(s) pov -- Clint and Natasha and 5 public displays of affection.

Clint knows it's love when Natasha makes space in her weapons vault for his bow.

Clint noticed the little changes, but it wasn't until Liho showed up that he realized Natasha had moved in.

Valentine's Day is the only day Natasha lets Clint defend her in non-life-or-death situations. Valentine's Day normally ends with Clint getting into a fight.

He can feel the train coming. Even with the hills obscuring the telltale smoke, the vibrations in the tracks sing the truth, right through what remains of the soles of his boots and his near-frozen feet.

Clint lets out a long, slow breath and wiggles his stiff finger tips, to loosen them up before they have to grip and hold. Two minutes, at best, and that train will come round the bend, slowing just enough to even the odds that he’ll end up under its wheels. He’s seen it happen, more than once, and it’s an ugly sight (the sounds are worse).

The last had been Charlie Magee, just this morning. He’d been something like friend, for a few hours anyway. Charlie had shared his fire and a tin of stew in exchange for Clint’s story, a smoke and a demonstration of Clint’s skills with the bow. Too old, too slow, too weak to really hang on, that’d been Charlie in the end. Maybe he’d gone all too willingly?

The memory of the old man’s scream cut short and the sound of his bones being crushed settles in Clint’s gut like another chill. But it doesn’t stop him, doesn’t paralyze him – no, quite the opposite. What it does instead, is to make everything around him sharper, more defined, like a frosty morning on the plains; it slows time for him, too.

It’s a familiar feeling, almost like a buzz. Danger, he’s found, does that to him (for him), like a drug or a magic potion. He lets it wash over him and tingle through his veins, adjusts the tattered pack and the bow and quiver on his back so they’re clear of his arms, and gets ready to jump.

This screams my name, but you could have probably guessed that :)

Intellectually, everyone knows that Clint and Natasha are the good guys, but there's something about their devotion to each other that scared the shit out of most SHIELD recruits. Because they know, they abosutely know, that no price is too high for one if the other is in trouble. They would burn the world to the ground if they needed to.
