FILL: Do Unto Others (PG)
"Oh my god, this cake is amazing," Kate moaned, her eyes closing in ecstasy as she took another big bite and savored the flavor. She opened her eyes and held out a forkful to Yelena. "Try it."
Yelena grinned and obligingly opened her mouth so Kate could feed her. "Mmm… Yes, good."
"You know, I almost feel bad taking Clint and Natasha's money for our dates, but then they pony up for a place like this and I feel less bad."
"You are horrible. We should both feel bad," Yelena said, holding out a fork full of her own dessert to Kate. "Try this. It will melt in your mouth."
Kate took a bite and moaned again. "Ok, so say I feel bad. What do you suggest we do? I kinda feel like if we confess we've been dating for weeks now Natasha might shoot us."
Yelena shook her head. "No, Natasha is much sneakier than that. She would get us in our sleep. Or maybe she'd poison our food."
"Yelena! How can you be so calm about this?"
She shrugged. "I am a Black Widow. We were trained for this. Besides, I am her sister. She may actually let me live."
"I hate you," Kate said, sticking out her tongue.
Yelena chuckled. "I know. I hate you, too. That's why I keep letting you take me out on these fabulous dates."
----
"So I was thinking," Kate started one morning as she sat at the table cradling a large mug of coffee. "We should repay the favor."
Yelena looked up from where she was cooking blinis. "What favor?"
"The date favor. For Natasha and Clint," Kate said, looking at her like it should be completely obvious.
"Not this again," Yelena complained. "If we tell them we are dating, they will murder both of us in our beds."
"I thought you said Natasha would murder me and let you get away."
"I said she might let me get away. It is just as likely she would send Clint to murder me."
Kate thought about it. "Fair point. But back to returning the favor."
"Do we have to?"
"Yes. Because they've been making moon eyes at each other for years and it's time they face the fact that they're made for each other."
"I do not want to think about my sister's sex life." Yelena set a plate in front of Kate. "Here. Eat."
Kate sat up straighter and picked up the fork Yelena handed her. "Don't think you can distract me with food. Well, you can, but don't think that's the end of this discussion."
Yelena rolled her eyes. "I know better."
-----
"So I'm here," Natasha said as she stepped out onto the roof. "What was so important you needed me to meet you up here?"
Clint looked at her in confusion. "What are you talking about? You asked me to meet you here!"
"Clint Barton, I have a text from you that was sent at 2 a.m. that clearly asked me to meet you on the roof this morning."
"And I have one from you," he countered, pulling out his phone and showing her the screen. He frowned. "So someone lured us up here together and left us a mysterious box."
"What mysterious box?"
"That," he said, gesturing to a pale peach box set carefully atop the parapet. "It's probably a bomb."
"It's not a bomb," Natasha said, rolling her eyes at him. She stepped across to where the box rested and peeled off the note that was taped to the top. "It's probably from Kate, who is probably also the person who lured us up here."
BOOM! This could have been a bomb, you know.
"It's from Kate," Natasha confirmed dryly.
Since you've been so intent on setting up Yelena and me (Thanks for that by the way - we've been dating for a little over a month now! Hahaha! Please don't kill us?) we thought we'd repay the favor. Enjoy your coffee date together. We hope it's the first of many dates. XOXO
"She and Yelena are dating," she continued.
"Great! Our plan worked!" Clint exclaimed.
"And have been for over a month," she concluded.
His triumphant smile turned into a ridiculously adorable look of confusion. "Wait, what? Then why have we been setting them up on all those dates?"
"Because they played us," Natasha said, handing him the note so she could open the box that it had been taped to. She smiled broadly when she saw the contents. "But since it also appears they left us some pastries from Magnolias and a couple of coffees, I think I'll forgive them." She held out one of the coffees to Clint. "So what do you say, Hawkeye? Wanna join me for a long overdue coffee date?"
Grinning, he took the proffered coffee. "I thought you'd never ask."
