The deadline for Secret Santa 2021 is on MIDNIGHT SUNDAY 12 DECEMBER (that's midnight in whatever time zone you live in) so here's some REALLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT YOU REALLY NEED TO READ aka your three step guide to submitting your Secret Santa gift. Paying attention to this post will make the lives of you, your mods, and any pinch hitters so very much easier. If you have any questions at all about anything please just ask, in the comments or send a mod a PM or an email if you're shy. Thank you :)
There are three things you need to do: finish, submit your gift by email, AND comment to this post. Read on to find out how...
STEP ONE: Get It Done
Complete your Secret Santa gift by the deadline of SUNDAY 12th DECEMBER. That's finished, beta read if you want, all polished and ready to be gift-wrapped. And make sure it meets the exchange rules and the community rules - such as: you fic should be at least 1000 words long, should have a rating, and should have warnings, 'no warnings apply', or 'choose not to warn'.
STEP TWO: Submit Email
Send your gifts to be_compromised@hotmail.com as follows:
The subject line of your email needs to be: "YOUR DW/ONLINE NAME Secret Santa Gift for giftee name"
Place the following header at the top of your fic or in the main body of your email. Use it exactly as it is, just copy and paste, fill it in and replace the capital letter parts with the relevant names:
Please submit your fic as an email attachment, preferably as a Word or .doc. If you would like to use another file type please ask. All fics will be posted as submitted, so make sure you’ve formatted for bold, italic, line breaks etc. This can be in rich text (ie make the words you want bold, italic etc) or html. Again, if you have any questions please just ask :)
STEP THREE: Comment To This Post
PLEASE CAN EVERYONE COMMENT TO THIS POST BY MIDNIGHT SUNDAY 12TH DECEMBER with the following:
We use this to double check that we’ve received your submitted fic (they have occasionally gone astray) or your different deadline, if you have an extension or are a pinch hitter. All comments are screened.
(Apologies, this year there won't be any fic banners as your mods just don't have the spoons. If you would like to make a banner for your gift yourself please feel free! Remember to keep them anonymous and please submit a hyperlink in the same email submission ss your fic submission. If anyone would like to make any generic banners, badges, graphics, or fan art for the event you are also very welcome. Just let a mod know so we can use them!)
PROBLEMS: We Know They Happen
If for any reason you think that you won't be able to submit by the deadline of SUNDAY 12TH DECEMBER please let us know as soon as possible. We don't yell, we just want to make sure that everyone who participates gets a gift and that everyone taking part in all ways has as few worries as possible.
If you can't submit by the deadline a pinch hitter will automatically be assigned.
- If you then manage to submit by an agreed extended deadline the pinch-hit will become a community gift.
- If you don't submit by the agreed extension we will assume that you have dropped out. Then the gift for you will be reassigned as a community gift and we will rely on your pinch hitter.
- If you haven’t contacted us at all by the 12th December but do still complete a gift, we will not be able to accept late gifts as part of the exchange.
The best way to contact a mod is to send an email to the community address and/or contact your mods inkvoices and franztastisch by PM, email, discord, twitter, or any other contact details you have for us.
What Happens Next
This is an anonymous gift exchange, so please don’t post or upload your gift elsewhere until after the reveals.
We will post gifts in the run up to Christmas (exact dates to be confirmed), then once all gifts have been posted we will have the reveals (before the 25th), at which point there will be a master post and an AO3 collection for this year's exchange if you want to crosspost your work.
