Summary: Bucky has asked Clint and Natasha to go back in time to prevent Bucky from becoming the Winter Soldier and letting him die in his own time, effectively irreparably altering their own timeline and losing their relationship in the process. When their time machine strands them in the past longer than they expected, they wind up kindling a relationship with a version of Bucky that isn't their Bucky but is slightly to the left while they contract Howard Stark to help them fix their machine and get them back home.
This leaves moral quandaries of what to do, how to fix it, and if Bucky will still be with them in the future.
