I know that Clint/Natasha are the new kids on the block and Scully/Muller are an old school classic... but dammit, I want my favs to win!

for some of us natasha/clint has been sailing longer than MSR. we turned around and there were all these new sailors on the ship! where'd they all come from?!?!? it's a little weird but i figure, just go with it. the movies have been the cherry on top.

So this goes offtopic, but not really... are there some of the comics you could rec me that have some good Natasha/Clint interaction?

if you're looking for something closer to the movie, check out the first volume (trade) of The Ultimates. if you're looking for something more traditional in the comic thread check out Widowmaker. these are of course, more modern day stories with tonnes of back story that is played on. well, not in the Ultimates. that's kind of it's own AU.

basically all you need to know is natasha recruited clint to steal stark tech, clint was in love with natasha, she used him, regretted it and realised she loved him too but by then it was too late. clint moved on, natasha moved on, but they still kind of like each other cos there's so much shared history.

if you've been keeping up with the current Avengers Assemble title, issue 5.

Excellent, thanks, very helpful! I'll start with Widowmaker; I've been eyeing that one before, think I saw it rec'd somewhere.

I also recommend Black Widow: The Name of the Rose for general Natasha backstory. It's my favourite comic.

As for Ultimates, don't read past Ultimates 1. It will make you rage in so many ways.

HOW DID I FORGET?
SECONDED. marjorie liu owns my everlasting fangirl love. her x23 arc is fabulous too.

and also, what sugar said, don't read past Ultimates 1.

Oh, oh, yes, I've already read Name of the Rose, it's gorgeous in every way.

I've heard many things about Ultimates, few of them good, so I will trust in reccers and only read the parts they suggest.

As much as I love Natasha/Clint, and even though I really couldn't care less about Mulder/Scully, I will have to admit that

A) there is a VERY slim chance for them to beat the mother ship
B) completely objectively speaking and despite of all their awesomeness, they probably have not yet entirely earned to do so (I can't stress the "Yet" part though)
and
C) I won't take it too hard if they lose this one. Because if you ARE going to lose, it is better to do so from the Mother of All ships.

you make some very good points. but it'd be cool if we did win! at least for some of us who've been sailing this pirate ship for years before the movie gained them popularity. *shrug*

Ha, it's *exactly* 50/50 right now. I wouldn't mind ending on a tie. :)
