Hi all! It’s time to choose which banner you’d like to see gracing the top of our community for next month. We’ve had eight entries for February’s theme of ‘love’ and I’ve had longer to look at them than the rest of you and I still can’t decide between them! But a choice is just gonna have to be made. We have until Midnight GMT on Thursday 31st January to place our votes. Everyone can vote, including banner makers, but only one vote per person.

BANNERS BEHIND THE CUT )

To vote: comment on this post with the number of the banner you’d like to win at the top of your comment as a word and in capital letters eg. NINE If you want to say anything else in your comment (praise, questions, whatever) please do that as a new paragraph, or leave a line or something, so that there’s no confusion over which banner you’re voting for. Thanking you!

So two of my girlfriends and I went to the movies this afternoon.  We were supposed to go tonight but, feeding the kids and all that ...  Anyway.  Off we headed, without said children (the thing is rated "R" for a reason) to the IMAX 3D Silver City to see Hansel and Gretel, Witchhunters.  (Of course, the reviews sucked, and of course, the critics are wrinking their noses.   But I noticed the Rotten Tomatoes score actually keeps climbing, and me and my friends would watch a two-hour slide of Jeremy Renner, sooo ...

What's not to love?

Steampunk Leather )And whaddya know?  Yes, certain reviewers -- who obviously have no sense of humour -- tittered about the anachronisms.  Hello?  Fairy Tale?  Exactly whose time line are we talking about here?  We had a grand ol' time.  Expected campy gore, got campy gore.  Witch bits flying at us in 3D!  Things blowing up!  Evil people getting smooshed in bad ways!  IMHO, we are looking at a future Midnight Classic.  (They scoffed at Starship Troopers, too, didn't they?  Now look where it is, in the pantheon of A-grade B-movies!)

What I didn't expect -- and the moment when I whispered to Kathy that I'd just gotten my price of admission's worth -- is this.

Unexpected Bonus )

The whole thing can best be summed up by the line "Revenge won't bring back our parents.  But it sure as hell feels good."

So -- yeah.

Title: Heavy in Your Arms (9/15)
Author/Artist: Koren M. ([livejournal.com profile] cybermathwitch)
Disclaimer: Not mine. If they were, there'd already be a Black Widow/Hawkeye movie.
Pairing: Clint/Natasha, Coulson/The Cellist, Fury/OFC (past), Maria/Bobbi
Rating: Adult 17+
Warnings: language, violence, sexual content, dub-con if you feel that mystical/destiny sorts of compulsions qualify as dubious consent (Natasha might agree with you)
Spoilers: None
Type: WIP
Word Count: 2,658
Summary: Clint and Natasha have a little bit of time to regroup, and Maria has some hard decisions to make.

Author's Notes: See Chapter 1 for more notes.

I owe you all a huge apology for how long this had taken. The holidays and all their associated things and stresses took a bigger toll on me (and therefore also on my writing time and energy) than I'd ever anticipated. That was combined with hitting the point in the story where I'm having to write out of order quite a bit, so finishing a single chapter is trickier. The good news is, that means that now it's all coming together and should move more rapidly from here on out. I'm pretty sure it's going to come in at 15 chapters, and I've got plans for two more connected interludes in there as well.

Huge thank yous to [livejournal.com profile] sweetwatersong, [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81, and [livejournal.com profile] kadollan for the beta work and support!

Here is a roundup of a few fanfics I've posted to Ao3 that are relevant to your interests. Thanks muchly to [livejournal.com profile] lar_laughs, [livejournal.com profile] frea_o and [livejournal.com profile] shenshen77 for their beta work on the various fics.

Parenthood is Hard
Rating: R
Warnings: Swearing, Graphic violence (adult on adult), Brief torture scene (adult on adult)
Word Count: 3,800
Summary: A kidfic I started an eon ago in response to the kidfic Friday.  While Natasha is at work, Clint is forced to defend his child and his home.

A thump from outside his house was the first thing that told Clint something was wrong. He woke abruptly in the chair he had fallen asleep in, the book he had been reading to his daughter still in his hand.

Strength is Weakness and Weakness is Strength
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Swearing, Minor Violence, Hostage and captor interaction
Word Count: 1,700
Summary: A Supernatural crossover, which someone at this bar prompted (unfortunately I've forgotten who it was, so let me know). Clint and Dean bond while being kidnapped.

“Think they’re coming soon?” Dean asked. “I’m starting to lose circulation in my legs. And if my baby gets hurt while I’m gone, I’m gonna kill Sam.” Clint frowned. He hadn’t thought the Winchesters had romantic companions that lasted for any length of time. Clearly he had been misinformed.

Unnecessary Defense (because we love you)
Rating: PG
Warnings: Swearing (nothing like warnings for making you realize how limited your vocab is!), Minor Minor Violence
Word Count: 2,000
Summary: Five times someone defended Natasha when she didn't need it, and the one time she did. For [livejournal.com profile] cybermathwitch, who ran the Secret Santa so well.

“Some have criticized the Black Widow and her role on the Avengers team. She’s a spy, not a superhero. And let’s be honest, fellas, while she looks good in a skintight suit, she doesn’t do much damage with those tiny guns of hers, does she?”
