Happy summer, best bar!

Between the AU exchange and Age of Ultron, we’ve had WAY too much on our minds lately…so much so that it was brought to our attention we never did a discussion for Ant-Man. And I know, our assassins weren’t actually IN the film, or sadly, even mentioned (unless you count the general Avengers line.) But some of you have asked if we would have any kind of fandom discussion, so we’d like to open the floor to anyone who wants to chat!

So, if you’ve seen the film, what were your thoughts? I know a lot of us (myself included) were a little wary about the film as a whole, but I actually really enjoyed it. It’s not my favorite Marvel movie, but I didn’t expect it to be. And I found myself pleasantly surprised by how nicely it slid into the Marvel Universe, as well as by the humor.

Did you like Scott? Are you excited, at least, that we hopefully get Hope in future MCU movies? (I’m clinging to this.) Was THAT cameo the best thing about the movie? And on a related note, where were the assassins? I’m sure there will be a lot of fill-ins between now and Civil War, but if you have any ideas of where Clint and Nat might be or even what side they might go towards in the next film, we’d love to hear your thoughts.

So discuss away! And I’m pretty sure at this point most people have seen the film, but none the less, please use the requisite spoiler warnings anyway just to be safe.

Things to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you've chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that's not happening then this post has clearly failed.)

Let the merriment continue! Can I just say, I love this AU exchange? :)

Title: take the sky from me
Author: [livejournal.com profile] sweetwatersong
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] inkvoices
Rating: pg-13
Warnings: past character deaths,
limb amputation

Prompt used: Apocalyptic AU.
Summary: The end came as an announcement, a promise, a future of burning worlds and expanding stars. The end came and there wasn't enough room to save all of them, weren't enough ships to bring everyone beyond the reach of a hungry red sun.

But it isn't the end, not quite. Not yet. And there are stars still left in the sky...

Author Notes: Title from The Ballad of Serenity by Sonny Rhodes which, you have it right, is from Firefly. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] cybermathwitch for being able to beta at the drop of a hat.

They are not survivors; no one will survive this dying world and its endless turning towards a meeting with their sun. )

Title: “Pilot”
Author: Koren M.
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] topaz119
Rating: Teen
Warnings: language
Prompt used: “I love fusions, where canon is translated into a different historical era or genre” - well, it’s certainly a fusion, and definitely a different genre. (Are the 90’s considered a different historical era? Because if not, they really should be.)
Summary: He walks into the basement office expecting his new assignment to be a glorified babysitting job. He certainly isn’t expecting to get drawn into a shadow war much more sinister and desperate than the one he just left behind.
The more things change…
The more they remain the same.
(Or, the X-Files AU you never knew you needed.)

Author Notes:

This is entirely AoU (and everything else) divergent, no MCU canon need apply. ;)

So this? Was not my original plan for this exchange. And by “not my original plan” I mean I had 85-90% of the fic I was originally writing done when I sat down Monday night, but instead of finishing that, I suddenly had Natasha in my head uttering the line “I was under the impression you were sent to spy on me”.

And whoosh down the rabbit hole I went. A few hours later, I had this. Some iconic conversations and actions/reactions remained the same, while others shifted and changed dramatically. I (hope) I did what was most true to the characters and the original story. I was really excited to see how it all played out, and the possibilities for how other moments or events might happen has me almost giddy. (That said, I haven't really done something quite like this before, so that could also be the nerves talking...)

Many, many thanks to kadollan for the beta-reading (and pouring the tea about the articles of serial killers).

I’m not sure it’s “fun and light” (I’m sorry!), but I also wouldn’t by any means call it overly angsty or dark fic, and I hope you like it! :D

Agent Barton, do you know why you're here?
