We're working on an AO3 collection, but it's got a few bugs I'm working out with the archive. I'll do a post with details about the collection once we get that worked out if you'd like to edit it and add it to that later. :D

Do you mean where you can post the fic anonymously on AO3? Since we've already done this year's reveals the 2012 collection isn't set to anonymous anymore.

That said, I don't know of any way to post a fic to AO3 anonymously in general, and couldn't find any listed in the FAQ.

yeah it has be that in the collection and I tried other methods but alas they did not work.

Oh! No, don't try to post it to the collection yet. (If you add it to the parent collection, it will automatically show up as anonymous on the site right now, because the child collection isn't showing up yet.) I've got a help ticket in with the archive to figure out what's going on with the child (the 2012-specific) collection.

I'll do an information and how-to post once we get that resolved. Until then you can just post the work w/o adding it to any collection and then go back in and edit/add to the proper collection later. :D

There is something called orphaning, where you can post a work and then remove any association with yourself from it: Orphaning on AO3 FAQ. Does that help?

Just be forewarned that if you orphan a work, it doesn't just show it as an anonymous author. It takes away all your ties and control over the work too.

Once you orphan a work, you can't edit, change, or do ANYTHING to it. It's removed from your account completely.

But it's not directly related to what's going on with this problem. It's not that works need to be posted w/o authors attached, it's that the correct collection isn't showing up at all.

See, I created a "parent" collection (Be-Compromised Secret Santa) and then a "child" collection (Be-Compromised Secret Santa 2012), so that if we decide to do this again, the gifts will be separated by year.

The "parent" is set up as an anonymous fic exchange, but the "child" is set up as "revealed". So, works posted in the "parent" collection would show the author listed as "anonymous". (The author's information is still there, and is visible to the author, just not to anyone else on the site. It's still connected to the author's account, they can still edit it and so on.)

Works posted in the "child" collection for 2012 should show the author's name since I've marked that exchange "revealed".

The problem is, right now, the 2012 collection isn't showing up in the archive when you try to add it to a fic (when you're setting up your headers). It's like that part of the site thinks it doesn't exist. The only one that pops up is the parent account.

So, in order for things to post properly, what should be entered in the collection slot is "Be_Compromised_Secret_Santa_Exchange_2012" - but it says that doesn't exist.

So far they've sent me an email letting me know they got my ticket, I'm hoping I'll get a more direct response soon.

That's an odd problem :/ I'll tell you what I'm seeing, if it helps: I get "Be-Compromised's Secret Santa Exchange" as the main, parent collection, where it has listed your fic 'snow/glass', then when I click on 'subcollections' I get "Challenges/Subcollections in Be-Compromised's Secret Santa Exchange" which has 'Be-Compromised's Secret Santa Exchange 2012 (Be_Compromised_Secret_Santa_Exchange_2012)' listed, then clicking on that gets me 'Be-Compromised's Secret Santa Exchange 2012', which has nothing in it and it says I can post a new work to there (but when I checked what shows up when you post a new work as the collection to add to I get 'Be-Compromised's Secret Santa Exchange'). I wonder if once you've added it to the parent collection it has to be moved to the subcollection or something???

What oresteia was thinking though, I'm pretty sure, was the anon fic we have listed from everyone to you and anuna_81 that won't be revealed, and I was thinking about that myself. I think orphaning would work for that, so long as it would still show up in the collection.

I considered that option but not having any chance to edit it later kind of scared me.

the fic will remain unposted for now. In a few months-- I'll revisit posting it. Since building a prompt meme for it is senseless and creating a new psuedo just links to the old one.
