Update on Jeremy's status in CA2...

And I'm sad to report the news is not great...

"While the jury is still out on an appearance by Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner)..."

SOURCE

I want to believe, since he signed on for so many movies, he will make an appearance, if only briefly, because it does make sense (at least in the story I've made up in mind). But the fact that we haven't heard anything on the matter yet has me worried... They'll start filming in a couple of months, there should be some sort of confirmation, or hints or something - anything! - by now...

My own (wishful?) thinking says they're trying to work something out because seeing him there does make sense. To me at least.

(If anything I would squee about a scene showing bow and arrows in Natasha's room/apartment/her private space.)

I think I would love subtle indications, as well! It would give us all those lovely stories like we've gotten trying to place him in IR2 or where she is in Thor. Sometimes absence is better than having him being in the movie with wrong things going on.

Couldn't agree more! Fuel for the fic factory ;)

When it comes to canon I'm in the "they're not actually sleeping together/in a relationship" camp, so something like that I wouldn't find believable.

I was hoping we might have a scene in the beginning where he gets benched because of the whole being possessed by Loki thing, and then reunites with Natasha at the end for the final fight.

(my spec for the movie is she finds a replacement partner in Bucky while Clint's not there and when Bucky goes rogue, Clint comes back...)

My point is, and you just drove it home for me, regardless of what theory or speculation anyone might subscribe to, the franchise is at a point where you can't have a SHIELD heavy movie, which features Natasha and not have Clint around even briefly. It just doesn't make sense.

At least it still means they haven't decided yet.

He singed this contract for 9 movies before he became a rising star. They could very well have him by the balls.... (pardon my French)

Do I think they should use him wisely? Yup! But I also think having him in a SHIELD heavy movie qualifies as using him wisely.

I'm doing this weird thing where I'm trying to accept that if they don't include Hawkeye in future movies as least that means they are not going to be KILLING HIM OFF ONSCREEN. And that that's better for my sanity. Isn't that dopey?

I agree!!!!!

Not really... I get where you're coming from. However I don't think they'll kill off a character that has gone over very well, with an actor that they can rely on, especially not when he's been signed for 9 movies. That's what has me less worried he's dying.

I've voiced my theory before -- UNCREDITED CAMEO! As in, Winter Soldier tries to get "too close" to Widow and she brushes him off with a "you're way too late, pal" -- and then Hawkeye turns up in the bonus scene at the very end (the one pointing us to Avengers 2) leading her off into the sunset ...

A gal can dream, right?

Oh, and a cameo is easy to slot into Mr. Renner's time as a rising star and first-time Dad.

honestly, that's my assumption too. I don't think they're *going* to acknowlege a Hawkeye cameo in CA2 - Marvel has the track record now of uncredited cameos in all the proceeding movies (well, maybe not Avengers) and I think they will do exactly what they did in Thor - fly Jeremy out for a couple of days, do a quick cameo filming and away he goes.

This makes me sad.

I think if he shows up in CA2 at all, it will be in a brief cameo at the end.

He's got a lot on his plate right now. Kill the Messenger will be shooting this summer, Imagine is supposed to start shooting this Spring. The David Russell untitled Abscam film is supposed to start shooting this year at some point. He has fairly major roles in all three movies and in addition, if they release Lowlife at any point this year (which I can't see them NOT doing, since it will capitalize on his popularity), he will have the press junket to do for that. Frankly, I'm exhausted just typing this up. As much as I would *LOVE* to see Hawkeye in CA2? I would *love* to see JR get some down time and rest so he can be his badass self in A2.
