Mini-Promptathon Posting Guide
This be the RULES FOR POSTING YO' STUFF TO MINI-PROMPTATHON post.

Please read this post fully if you plan to participate and let us know if you have any questions. Happy promptathon everybody!

***
When you can post8:00 A.M. EST on Thursday February 14th.  Here's a handy dandy time zone converter to figure out when this is happening on an internet near you.

How to post:
1.  Respond in a comment to the prompt you are filling.
2.  Make sure to label your submission in the subject line with the type of fanwork(fic/icon/artwork/vid/fanmix/etc.) + the Title + the Rating + the Warnings (or say "chosen not to warn.")  For example:

"FIC: That Time Clint and Natasha Were Awesome Badass Asaassinpeople on Valentine's Day, rated: PG, no warnings"

When filling in the subject line, you may need to view the comm in it's original style (if you don't already). Just make sure you can see a subject line when responding with your submission.

3. Per our rules ratings and a warnings statement our required. If your post does not have this, it will be deleted. If the ratings or the warnings won't fit in the subject line, just leave them at the top of your post.

4.  Try and post the entire work in the comment (if it's short enough), or if not, post a link. I'm all about one-stop shopping whenever possible, so try and post in the main promptathon post if the length allows.  Also, if it is too long to post in the promptathon post, consider posting the first section as a teaser and then a link (b/c that's always fun too.)  Either way, be sure to label your post in the subject line as described above (**points to rule #2**).

For now, only post in the main mini-promptathon post and not directly to the comm so we can avoid being flooded with new posts right out of the gate.

Remember:
  • A single prompt can be filled by more than one person, so no worries if a prompt you like already has a submission. We are all about moar submissions! The more the merrier!
  • Be sure to wait until it's time to post. Early submissions will be deleted.  (Patience is a virtue, grasshopper.)
  • I will be making a masterlist of prompt fills, which I will try to update every day, so keep an eye out for this.

Questions? Comments? Stuff I forgot?  I'm so excited about this, y'all. So excited.

how about ...
... if a fic incorporates elements of more than one prompt? Assume we just post to the main one? Or should one post a little teaser to the others?

(Assuming I get done by tomorrow, which is now in doubt...)

Re: how about ...
Post to the main one, but feel free to post a link and a summary in the others.

(No rush, my friend. You got the whole rest of the month. :)

Re: how about ...
That was my question. When are things due again?
[identity profile] purely-distel.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 09:02 am (UTC)
Re: how about ...
I think "due" isn't really an issue ... it's more that posting starts today (for me it's already past 8am, Valentines Day ... no idea 'bout you Americans xD) and will officially continue until the end of February. Obviously, if you end up writing something for one of the prompts after that (or just don't get yours done in time) no one will kill you, if you post it later.

After the promptathon closes at the end of Feb, I think you would not post it as a comment anymore though, just as a regular fic and just say something like "This was meant for the promptathon blah blubb" or something ...

DID I ANSWER IT RIGHT, MISTRESSES? *shifty unsure eyes to the mods*

Re: how about ...
Sounds like a plan!

Re: how about ...
p_d is absolutely right. You can start posting today if your ready, but if you're not, you have until Feb. 28th and can post anytime between now and then.

Hope that helps! <3

Re: how about ...
Yep! Thanks!
[identity profile] purely-distel.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 09:04 am (UTC)
URG, gotta wait until TWO PM for the shenanigans to begin ... then again, might be able to squeeze another prompt out until this afternoon - HA!

CANNOT WAIT FOR ALL THE GOODNESS <3 Thanks for organising if I haven't said it already! And if I did, I'm just gonna say it again - THANK YOU!
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 12:35 pm (UTC)
You are so welcome-- we are happy to do it! Should be a great time for all. <3

Yaaaaaay!

So if the fics are posted as comments to the original thread, doesn't that mean that the only way to find them is to go through the thread (which is now like 11 pages)? Or will links to the fics be posted somewhere else as well? Also when you ass comments to the fics into the original thread, won't it become impossibly long?
[identity profile] frea-o.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 05:19 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I had this thought, too. Wouldn't it be better to have a post saying, "Post your prompts here," with maybe a brief demo on how to link to the original prompt comment? I'd be happy to whip one up, if anybody needs it. Keeps the clutter down (aka my ADD will kick in searching for comments and I'll wander off and go make stupid Avengers valentines instead of reading awesome work).
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 05:23 pm (UTC)
See my reply below.

For now we're going to stick with the original promptathon formula, but I will post the masterlist tonight and will continue to add to it and update it daily to make finding and reading easier. :)
[identity profile] frea-o.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 07:04 pm (UTC)
I appreciate you doing the masterlist. 11 (and growing) pages to look for new fic with all of the nested comments is a lot. :)

masterpost is up:

enjoy! :)
[identity profile] frea-o.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2013 03:38 am (UTC)
Grazi!
[identity profile] jorizo.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 05:24 pm (UTC)
Yeah this is what I thought would be a good idea. I saw the previous prompt thread and while it is kind of awesome in its massiveness, it's hard to follow.
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 05:27 pm (UTC)
That's what the masterpost is for. :)
[identity profile] jorizo.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 05:28 pm (UTC)
Which is what I was after. A masterpost of sorts :) I just thought the masterpost wouldn't be posted until after all the fics were posted.
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 05:29 pm (UTC)
Oh no-- I keep up with it in real time. I'm all about the instant gratification (or at least, daily gratification. ;)
[identity profile] jorizo.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 05:33 pm (UTC)
Well that is rather fabulous :D
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 05:42 pm (UTC)
We aim to please. ;)
[identity profile] alphaflyer.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 09:25 pm (UTC)
And please you do. Daily and continuously... THANKS!!! :-)

I've been trawling for postings with the 14Feb date, but it's a daunting undertaking (even just finding the prompt(s) to which I am busily writing a lengthy fic is a daunting undertaking ... (Plus, I keep seeing other prompts ...) :-)

I know the awesome [livejournal.com profile] workerbee73 is making a masterlist, so I went through and updated the one I put on my own blog with links to each comment now, and I threw the one story I saw posted on there, too. It's not a perfect solution, and I think I'll just check the masterlist daily.
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2013 01:25 am (UTC)
This is great! Thanks!
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 05:21 pm (UTC)
Well, you can track comments to the promptathon post (so anytime someone replies, it will show up in your LJ inbox) or just scroll through the pages. I'm going to be doing a masterpost roundup that I will try and update every day for those who don't want to invest the time and hassle in culling through the thread itself.

The threads do become long, but it's kind of part of the fun. Last year's promptathon got up to nearly 6000 comments when all was said and done.

[identity profile] sugar-fey.livejournal.com on February 14th, 2013 07:35 pm (UTC)
Is there any way to view the comments in the order they're posted rather than going through the threads? That might be an easier way to keep track of new fics being posted.

I'm excited, guys!

If you add ?view=flat to the url, it does that for you :) so:
