FIC: The Skies Over Manhattan (Chapter 4/4)  
Title: The Skies Over Manhattan -- Chapter 4:  "Battleship"
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None, really.  Some swearing, but not a lot for me (or "my" Clint)
Pairing: Clint/Natasha
Word Count: 10,000 (yeah, I couldn't find a good place to split it)
Disclaimer: Doreen from the cafeteria is the creation of [livejournal.com profile] allisnow.  All hail Doreen!  When it comes to the MCU, All I own is an Avengers BlueRay, a couple of posters and a Hawkeye action figure. Oh, and two comics.
Summary: Two master assassins, a demi-god, a super soldier, a man with breathtaking anger management issues and a billionaire in a flying suit. They're supposed to be on the same team.  A series of post-New York vignettes.
Author's Notes The end of a longish road; experimentation with different POVs while keeping Clint and Natasha firmly engaged, if not in the crosshairs.  Thanks to my dear friends Runawaymetaphor and shenshen77 for invaluable advice and encouragement; all remaining flaws are mine.

I think my next Avengers effort will probably be me trying to whip the thing I posted on "unfinished fic Wednesday" a couple of weeks ago into shape. But before then, I owe my Voyager readers a chapter ...

WOW! Fantastic work with this, just fantastic. I loved all the little details like the jellyfish, the seagulls, the differing color of the replacement plates on the helicarrier windows; those little things that just make the fic so much richer.

Usually I can find a favorite thing in fics, but I'm going to have to call a tie in this case. One -- the scene in the cafeteria when Clint arrives -- the Hulk's recognizing the potential danger, Clint placing himself between Natasha and Bruce, the kiss, Sitwell, Doreen -- LOVED the whole thing. Two -- the coming to terms between Bruce and Natasha, I've seen it done in a few other fics, but your version is by far my favorite.

And Coulson! \o/

Now I'm going to have find time to go back and read all four chapters back to back :)

Thank you so much! So glad you liked it. Clint definitely needs to learn how to suppress those he-man protector instincts ... ;-)

Let me know what you think when you go through the whole thing. It's really four "vignettes" strung loosely together along a chronological line. I'm actually thinking about adding a fifth (Clint & Coulson) even though I've marked it as complete. Hmmmm.
