Clint/Natasha prompts over at queer_fest  
I just found queer_fest over on dreamwidth, and I was wondering if anyone here was participating! (It's currently in the prompt-claiming stage.) There's a few interesting prompts for Clint and Natasha that either are pairings, or don't preclude the two of them dating (as "queer" obviously does not merely apply to sexuality, and bi-people dating people of the opposite gender are still bi :)).

I don't think I'm going to grab a claim, just because I'm dead of school at the moment, but the prompts've made me start thinking ... anything that catches your guys' eyes? Do you have any queer C/N recs? The only one I can think of off the top of my head is ashen_key's keeping your head above water (rated T, no warnings) which looks at their relationship through every combination of binary genders.

(some [but not all!] prompts featuring our kids --

Marvel Movies (Avengers) Clint Barton, Hawkeye Finding to the words to explain that attraction to him isn’t about looks or personality, but it’s about his ability to trust the other person.

MCU: Clint Barton; Everyone else thinks Clint is a guy. Clint doesn't really bother correcting them.

MCU; Clint Barton/Natasha Romanoff; just because they are in a romantic relationship with each other doesn't mean that they aren't queer.

MCU; Natasha Romanoff; gender is just as fluid as everything else in Romanoff's life.

MCU: Natasha Romanoff; she was born Nikolai.)

Fair note that I might be quiet in the comments -- see above, re: school! But I'll be reading :)

Wellllll....I wrote one that doesn't deal with queer, but with gay...so...it sort of fits in this category. I hate to even spoil it by saying that much, but if you're interested...

Ahahaha, I am pretty sure I read that on your LJ -- it made me giggle again. :D. I WILL NOT SPOIL IT BY SAYING MORE, beyond I really enjoy the silent communication and how much Tony DoesNotGetIt

(And they are using "queer" in queer_fest to refer to the whole QUILTBAG -- queer: undecided, intersex, lesbian, trans*, bisexual, asexual, and gay -- so your fic fits in perfectly! :D)

As for the "queer," that makes sense. Also, I suppose my fic isn't necessarily "gay," huh? Could be bi, and oh, but I quite like that idea... *evil grin*

I'm not claiming any prompts, but I will probably go through and write some in the end period for fun, if I have the time, but in other fandoms and with other pairings.

I'm excited for some more recs! :)

\o/ very fair! Avengers is still living pretty prominently in my fic brain, haha -- I think I'll be grabbing for people other than Clint and Nat though -- except maybe Natasha & gender fluidity.

I have a long running plot bunny that I've been poking at where she is very feminine, just only IDs as a woman so far as her roles do. Like, gender is solely to her heart something she "puts on"/performs for roles.

edit: typo'd "her" as "hurt". Whaaaat, TL?

I definitely think Natasha views gender as a performance, but it would be interesting to see if that plays out as genderqueer or not.

Avengers is very prominent in my brain to, but sometimes I need to take a break so I can go back to canon and not get too deep into fanon (from which finding escape can be difficult).

I could see it going either way! I admit, gq/non-binary identities beyond agender I am not all that familiar with, so I'm definitely still poking at it :)

Re: canon/fanon -- that makes a lot of sense! I admit, I actually avoid reading most Avengers fic for similar reasons, which might seem really weird. It's just so easy to fall into "well, of COURSE this is what that scene meant..." even though there's no real 'of course' about it :)

My only other fandom right now is Elementary, where everything is reversed -- read ALL the fic, but have no fic ideas (these might be related, tbh, :P).

Yes sure! I will PM you in a bit, as I'm off to a study thing for thesis & I guess it is kind of offtopic-y, haha! But they are mostly Sherlock-Joan friendship recs :D

Yess, I saw! I just didn't what to be all awkwardly wave-y in the post. I'm really excited about seeing your Clint fic :D.

Curious -- have you found any interesting queer!fic re: Clint & Nat gen or Clint/Nat? I don't scroll through fandom enough to really have a great idea of what's out there.

It changes for me from fic 'verse to fic 'verse, but they both are in my main one :D. (I don't think I have any 'verse where both of them are straight.)

I am so interested to see what comes of the gender prompts -- probably personal bias, but I like seeing people play with that sort of thing a lot; especially with someone as masculine as Clint (who I personally see as cis, but that doesn't mean other interpretations aren't super interesting!).
