ATTF: Unfilled Prompts and Creative Manipulation Edition
Welcome, and congratulations for making it to Friday! This week's theme is Unfilled Prompts and Creative Manipulation.

Most of us have prompts that we want answered (if you don't, you can check out [livejournal.com profile] frea_o's google spreadsheet of unfilled prompts from the last promptathon). Now’s your chance! You can post as many prompts as you like, with just two catches. Firstly, to the best of your knowledge, the prompt must be unfilled. Secondly, for each prompt you post, post how you would creatively bribe or lightly threaten someone into creating fanwork for this prompt (if you were less ethical then you obviously are. *ahem*). If you're lucky someone might take on the prompt, either now or later. If so, they have the option of telling us how they'd respond to the bribe/ threat/ blackmail attached.

Please don't single out individuals who’d you’d like to write for you, just creative blackmail or bribery in general. I’ll start us off in comments. Ridiculousness encouraged!

Things to remember (and that I've totally forgotten before. Whoops!):
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)

Prompt: Clint blames Maria for introducing Natasha to knitting. She says it calms her nerves but she's one of the calmest people he knows. The odds are good that he's going to get a sweater for his birthday. Why is he so bothered by that? (Originally from [livejournal.com profile] lar_laughs)

Bribe: I would make them chocolate cookies, from scratch. Also a pony.

Arts and Crafts and Homicide (http://frea-o.livejournal.com/50378.html), rated PG-13, warnings for juvenile jokes about masturbation. Clint tries to figure out why he doesn't want a sweater. Sitwell...does not help.

I would prefer milk chocolate to dark chocolate.

Thank you! :) And I think that can be arranged, whenever I'm back in your part of town.

Prompt: Technology AU. Natasha is a master hacker, brought up to be one, used as one, maybe now independent. Those people who can damange water pumps, make traffic go crazy, bring down banks and nations, all with computers? That's the Black Widow. Clint is the hacker - hacker is such a dirty word, I prefer... - who works for the 'good guys' (the police, SHIELD, you name it) and once he sets his sights on something he never misses, his code always works, to unravel the bad guy's work, to fix things, to strike at the weak points of another's code and bring it down.

Then Clint is assigned to track and trace, and bring down, the Black Widow.
(Originally from [livejournal.com profile] inkvoices)

Threat: I would tie them to a chair and force them to watch Ben Affleck’s worst movies marathon.

Prompt: Soulmate universe AU, where Clint and Natasha are NOT soulmates (mine!).

Bribe: I would do their taxes for them. The US versions of taxes, even.
[identity profile] sweetwatersong.livejournal.com on October 4th, 2013 11:43 pm (UTC)
a babylon for us (), rated PG-13, warnings for adultery and a brief, NSWFish section.

It's exceedingly domestic, but I took the idea of an AU and ran with it. I hope someone writes you a more canon version! :)

Thank you! *tackle hugs* I shall find something sufficiently nice to do in the future :)

You're welcome! Writing for prompts is enough of a reward for me, so whatever you want to do is fine. :)

Prompt: Unlike how everyone thinks of their relationship... Natasha is the one who fell first. (via [livejournal.com profile] undyinglovee)

Treat: I will learn, and sing for you, every song from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
[identity profile] alphaflyer.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2013 12:26 am (UTC)
I like this one ... I may need to do it, but not until November ...
franztastisch[personal profile] franztastisch on October 5th, 2013 08:55 am (UTC)
YESSSS. I'm having real trouble finding stories where Natasha falls first. And I really, realyl want them.
[identity profile] jacedesbff.livejournal.com on October 6th, 2013 04:55 am (UTC)
I LOVE stories with that take. And they're definitely hard to come by!
franztastisch[personal profile] franztastisch on October 6th, 2013 05:46 pm (UTC)
Do you know of any? Because I tried to go on a search and all I could find were ones that were really vague and implied.
[identity profile] jacedesbff.livejournal.com on October 7th, 2013 12:20 am (UTC)
There was actually a whole discussion about this in this comm once. Now, of course, I am spurred to go find it. (The thought is a bit daunting.) In the meantime, a few that I can remember:

American Cultural Parameters - http://archiveofourown.org/works/752648 - the funny part is that during the aforementioned discussion, I didn't think of this one at first. And I wrote it. Which is funny for SO many reasons. :-) I wrote it because I wanted more stories where she liked him first.

Hyperfocal Distance - http://archiveofourown.org/works/987348 - just came out this week. Journalism AU in which she clearly caught on long before he did. :-)

Looking for You or Anyone Like you - http://archiveofourown.org/works/458311

Those are the ones I can think of off of the top of my head. Any others you know I'd love to hear! :-)

I genuinely cannot think of more that those. And even those are, to me, not quite right. Because she always turns to Clint and says she loves him and he's like well I've not slept with/seen anyone since a long time before you; ergo Clint fell first. But they are by far the closest. Maybe I'll try to write one at some stage...
[identity profile] jacedesbff.livejournal.com on October 7th, 2013 09:15 pm (UTC)
There is one that I believe fits what you're describing, but it's a background element of the plot. It's "Oxycodone Days" and "Into the Fire", both on FF.net and AO3 (I can't look up the links at work.) Natasha describes how she spent "nine months trying to get out of the friend zone" and finally got him to see her that way. I didn't recommend it initially because it is a background element of the plot. Also, while I really, really like the characterizations of Clint and Natasha, that of Tony is so off-putting that I have a hard time recommending it. I mean, Tony is just a...well, let's just say he's truly unlikable and (IMO) wildly OOC. Back to the initial point, though, the relationship between Clint and Natasha developed from what you are describing.

Like you, though, I would really like to see (or write) one where she falls first and has to do something about it. I think what has become fanon, though, is that there is no way she would like him and he wouldn't (a) catch on pretty quickly and/or (b) not have already been attracted to her. The nice thing about the above-mentioned fics is that the author sets up characters that make that believable (although I would darn-near kill for a prequel that goes into more detail.)

As long as we're throwing stuff out there, what kind of situation/background can you envision where that's the case? Wait a minute, I did kind of write that in "Train" (on AO3 under my name). (And why do I keep forgetting that I wrote these things? I mean, seriously - I am clearly getting old.) It has Clint hung up on somebody else, and he doesn't come around until the current girlfriend tells him she won't marry him unless he gets another partner, her reasoning being that Natasha is in love with him. He refuses to break up with Natasha (partnerly-speaking), so he dumps the girlfriend and ends up deciding to see what could be there with Natasha as he'd never really considered it before. So it kind of is what you're talking about (I think). Sorry I can't link to it, but I try to avoid going on fanfiction sites using the elementary school server. :-)

Anywho, love to hear your thoughts. Because I do think it's a plausible set-up. It just has to have good exposition.
franztastisch: bench[personal profile] franztastisch on October 7th, 2013 10:19 pm (UTC)
Ah. I rmemeber Oxycodone Days. And yes, the whole thing read as rather OOC to me too. Aah well.

In my mind, Natasha starts of with a sort of... not hero worship, but something similar based on the fact that Clint gave her a chance. And its all mixed in with hope and gratefulness and protectiveness and everything, and its all normal and fine until one day she just realises that its been there from the beginning, she just hadn't twigged. But for him, he saved her because he saw the good and the potential, but it wasn't anything more than that. I mean, sure, she's attactive, but he's a professionsal and he's known attractive women before.. So he's her friend and parter and confidant and then...

Well I don't really know, because as you said, it's fanon that he falls first, and its difficult to get away from that. But I think you could do it it, you just have to think it through properly. And be more awake that me now when you do it. :P

I hope it's okay if I start pondering this, too. I really love the concept and would love to see it written out. :-)
franztastisch[personal profile] franztastisch on October 8th, 2013 08:41 pm (UTC)
Haha of course! Far be it for me to tell people not to think/write about stuff. The more the merrier! That way something may come of it. :D
[identity profile] happilydancing.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2013 10:27 pm (UTC)
OMG YES. This is the prompt I want above all others. And I want like 20 stories that follow this.

In-n-out burger for life!

Prompt: Fairy Tale AU: "A farmer wants his son to be afraid of beautiful women, so he will not leave home too soon, so he tells a story about how one drowned his brother's cousin's friend in a lake, not because he was a pig who deserved to be drowned, but because beautiful women are bad, and also witches. And it doesn't matter that she didn't ask to be beautiful, or to be born in a lake, or to live forever, or to not know how men breathe until they stop doing it." (via [livejournal.com profile] sugar_fey)

Bribe: homemade raspberry pavlova, with cream. :D

Ooh. I like that one. Have you read ashen_key's the water and the wild? It's pretty close to the meat of your prompt (and also dark, with graphic depictions of violence). http://archiveofourown.org/works/478786?view_adult=true
franztastisch[personal profile] franztastisch on October 5th, 2013 08:55 am (UTC)
Yes I have actually! But it's totally worth a reread. :)

"By the time he arrived outside Stark's lab, there was smoke seeping out from underneath the door. The hand-drawn sign stuck to the door said 'There Be Dragons.' He turned to Tony, who was wheezing and covered in soot.

"Please tell me that's a joke."

Stark just looked at him, and something in his eyes hit Clint like a punch in the gut.

"Tony?"" he said carefully. ""Where's Natasha?"

___________

Okay, a while ago (at the Ottawa Comicon in May, to be exact) I acquired this print of Black Widow by an artist whose name I forget, but it's on the print -- as is his signature. I was going to auction it off for charity, but being me, never got my act together on that.

SO.

You write me that story? You get this: :-)

One of my own prompts -- The first time she initiated an embrace wasn’t what he expected. She was desperately clutching him, fists curled into his shirt on his back, violently shuddering, and with her face buried against his neck.

I'm thinking drugs. No, not as the bribe or threat! But that Natasha was drugged.

Although, due to my recent cold, I do have some pretty decent cough medicine, but I'm not sure I want to give it up.

My bribe: I'll post a couple of the most adorable puppies playing with a kitten photos you have ever seen.

Happy Friday everyone!
[identity profile] hufflepuffsneak.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2013 01:59 am (UTC)
Good prompt!

The bribes don't have to be real! But real always helps.

And I was totally just about to post "drugs" as one of my bribes, but given all the stuff with the NSA, I didn't want people to think I was serious :)
[identity profile] happilydancing.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2013 10:29 pm (UTC)
Ahahaha, I was going to post drugs too (since I'm a pharmacist), but decided not to in case the DEA wants to go sniffing around. ;)

Prompt: Marry your best friend. I do not say that lightly. Really, truly find the strongest, happiest friendship in the person you fall in love with. Someone who speaks highly of you. Someone you can laugh with. The kind of laughs that make your belly ache, and your nose snort. The embarrassing, earnest, healing kind of laughs. Wit is important. Life is too short not to love someone who lets you be a fool with them. Make sure they are somebody who lets you cry, too. ... - N’tima

You know, I'm staring at this prompt, I know exactly why I prompted, and really want to see it filled :) So happy you pulled it out. I would love to fill it myself. Do I get a fruit hat then?

A fictional fruit hat. And maybe a nice present, if I'm ever in your neck of the woods or vice versa.
