ALL THE THINGS FRIDAY: Getting To Know You
Greetings, Best Bar on Earth, from both [livejournal.com profile] enigma731 and me!

When we were made mods, [livejournal.com profile] sugar_fey and [livejournal.com profile] inkvoices impressed upon us that we had new responsibilities now. Important things like making sure everybody at the bar had a refill of his or her chosen drink. Smiling a lot. Cheering on all the Natsaha and Clint love. Basically things we did as members, but now wearing roller skates, lederhosen, and party hats.

Our first task was to come up with an appropriate ATTF post. Well, that was a doozy. We had so many other people who came before us that made awesome ATTF topics. I mean, mini-promptathons and headcanons and fic recs, things that had people celebrating well into the weekend. And that, my friends, was a hard act to follow.

But then we realized what else must have been daunting: Clint and Natasha getting to know each other. By our estimations, they probably got to know each other at the end of, you know, a gun barrel and down the shaft of an arrow. We're a tiny bit more laidback here at [livejournal.com profile] be_compromised, or at least we like to tell ourselves that we are.

So I thought, 2013's about 75% done and we've had a bunch of new members lately, why not take a Friday just to hang out and get to know each other? Guaranteed to be way less stressful than Clint and Natasha getting to that point where Clint made a different call, we promise.

So today's ATTF is all about the most effective way to get to know people through fic: the 5+1. That's right. The goal is to share 5 things people might not know about you (uh, probably want to keep it to things that aren't your bank account number) and 1 thing people do know about you. For example, Clint's might be:

1) I like opera (don't tell Nat)
2) When I was seven, I made friends with Old Mongrel, the circus cat.
3) I only made the boomerang arrow on a dare with Luke Cage.
4) I lied to Natasha when I said I enjoyed her tuna melt casserole, which was a mistake because she makes it every time I come home from a long trip.
5) I'm double-jointed. *eyebrow wiggle*

+1) I think Natasha's pretty great.

This is just a fun way for all of us in the community to get to know everybody else. Don't be shy! We're the best bar. Sidle up and order yourself a round of friendship...

...okay, I'll see myself out now.

Things to remember:

  1. Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.

  2. Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).

  3. For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.

  4. Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)

To be fair, I never won a trophy but we were better than the boy scouts, so that was all that mattered! (and I have gotten stuck in some really hilarious places while canoeing)

That whole canoe thing of yours spurred a memory ... see below ... ;-)

Getting stuck in places, I can believe. On a wide open river or lake, my canoe would inevitably find the worst place to be. At which point my typical course of action was to begin singing "Just Around the River Bend" or going with the tried and true mantra, "Paddle faster, I hear banjos!"
