VALENTINE'S MINI-PROMPTATHON 2014

The When
Now (Friday, January 31st) - February 7th 12 midnight eastern: Prompt! Prompt like the wind!
February 8th - February 15th: Fill those prompts like you've never filled problems before!

The What
Prompts: Can be related to love, friendship, huggin', kissin', lovin' (you get the picture), and all the things Valentine's Day-related.

The Where
Here! Right here in this post! Make sure each prompt gets its own happy little thread.

The What, Part 2
Fills: Post your fill, or a link to your fill - be it fic, art, a video of you preforming an interpretive dance, etc - as a reply to the prompt comment. Please don't post your fanwork separately to the comm, otherwise b_c might explode from the squee. EVERYTHING PROMPTY SHALL LIVE HERE. Oh, and remember that prompts can have multiple fills.

The How
Rules on posting will be added as we get closer to the 8th. But you know the gist. Title, rating, warnings.

Ballet AU: Natasha is the new prima ballerina at the Mariinsky Ballet (or Bolshoi Ballet, either one). She's Vaganova trained, completely dedicated to dance and a perfectionist in all she does. She receives an invitation to dance with the New York City Ballet, where she meets Clint, a soloist. He's not the flashiest dancer and he's not the biggest star, but he is a great partner. Natasha and Clint are partnered for a performance and sparks fly.

GOD I HATE YOU SO MUCH.

That has essentially been my ballet company AU headcanon for like, a year. Except I don't like NYCB that much, but... merp!

BECAUSE I don't see Clint really fitting princely roles and those are literally all the male roles in ballet except for like, Don Quixote? But the main male role in Don Quixote has FLASHY SOLOS and I definitely do not see Clint doing that either and I just.

Ballet is a big deal to me.

Also, I think the problem is that I have an 8AM Stats class tomorrow but I'm not sure if it's that or trying to cast Clint in a role.

What about Mercutio, Tybalt or Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet? And he understudies Romeo and suddenly ends up partnered with Natasha's Juliet?

FIC: When The Music Stops, We'll Still Be Dancing [Together], g

Clint’s on break, sitting in the back of the orchestra with his legs up on the chair in front of him, when the question surfaces.

“You meet the new girl yet?” The flutist asks, kneeling down to unpack his instrument on the next chair. “She just transferred over to replace Vinkurov. Real beauty; natural, too. Can’t believe she’s never danced in the big leagues before.”

Clint shrugs, moving his feet to the floor as he sits up a little straighter. “Don’t generally pay attention to the prima ballerinas,” he replies, twirling his violin bow between his fingers, using it to draw lazy circles against his calf. His friend smirks, nodding towards the stage.

“Well, you’re gonna wanna pay attention to this one.”

Eee thank you for the comment! <3 I was a little nervous at first because I (unintentionally) didn't quite follow the prompt to a T, but I loved being able to explore a quieter side of both of them with something I've wanted to write for awhile. So glad you liked. :)

You people are making a liar out of me. Me, who swore to never read an AU story. Me, who would roll her eyes at AU prompts and fills. Me, whose narrow mind couldn't fathom taking these intense characters and making them different (but not really). Me, who sits before you now apologizing for all my past transgressions regarding AUs. My eyes were opened with a Secret Santa fill and my fate is sealed with this V Day fill. I can no longer avoid an AU story.

Beautiful writing and imagery. Beautiful story.

Thank you SO much for your words <3 I have to say, I've never actually written an AU before and part of that was because of a lot of the above. But these two actually lend themselves quite well to different situations, and I'm happy I was able to turn you into a fan. :)
