2014 ATTF Signup Post #3

Info for all:

What is this All The Things Friday of which you speak?
All The Things Friday is bascially a day where we have a post that kicks off a party. That post can be a call out for recs, discussion, picspams, meta, thinky thoughts, squee, dance parties, mini challenges, ANYTHING that you would like to see on this comm. You can take a look at any of the tags with 'Friday' in to see the kinds of things that we've gotten up to before. Although if someone has already used your idea, don't worry; repeats are fine, because there are always new fics to rec and ideas had :)

Who can host?
Anyone. You can host on your own, or as a team, or with a mod.

What does hosting mean?
Being the person that writes the party post. Usually then joining in with the fun that happens. You can know what you want your topic to be in advance, or come up with it on the day.

It's moderating something?
No, don't worry. If you have any problems throw it to the mods as normal. It's more like chairing a gathering, being the DJ, yelling for drinks all around. It's as much or as little work as you want it to be.

How does hosting work?
You write a post about what kind of Friday you want it to be, opening up the floor, and you post it at any time on a Friday. For people worried about timezones, really,any time (we tend to party on into the weekend anyway). At the bottom of your Friday post we'd like you to copy and paste this:

What if I have a topic, but I don't want to host?
Let us know what topics you'd like and someone else will host it! Ideas are gold.

You keep saying anyone and anything, but what are the rules of this thing?
Have fun. That's an important rule. Otherwise, it's an all the things friday and we really mean that :)

How about discussing the differences/similarities/possibilities when it comes to their comics versions vs. their MCU versions, and how to handle that in fandom and fic? :)

I'll be happy to take the 18th. I'm thinking "relating to the rest of the team" might be interesting. Conversations over pizza or over the comm; others' views of our assassins ("What do you say, Rogers -- they doing it?" "What's it?"); sudden unexpected moments of being stuck with Thor or Tony Stark ... that sort of thing.

I'm mostly out of idea for hosting, there have been so many ATTFs!

How many people are thinking of watching Lucy, do you think? Have we already had a "movies that could totally be Natasha or Clint undercover" ATTF?

As for other other ideas, I'm struggling to think of a World Cup theme that could tie in. IDK, trying to write 32 fanfics set in 32 different countries on one Friday?

I know we had a fanart ATTF ages ago, but there has been plenty of fanart since then, maybe we should have an ATTF devoted to fanart?

I'm just hoping we'll get a celebratory "Marvel just announced a Black Widow movie" ATTF at some point.

Well, I don't see the harm in some things being repeated, if that helps? Like, for example, I think we could have a 3 sentence ficathon every few months.

I like your movie idea, though, and we will likely have either a general chat ATTF for SDCC weekend, or a separate SDCC flailing post (more likely, since I think the big Marvel panel is on the Saturday?)

What about a sports related ATTF? I'd be useless at it since I'm Totally Not a Sports Person, but might you be interested?

I could do an World Cup Competition one on the 11th, that way non sports people could participate). So the theme could be "in or about the two finalist countries" or about our assassins competing (can be with each other or as a team).

I'll take a Three Sentense Ficathon, but I think I'll leave the Non-Fic Recs (RE: other comment thread) as I think I hosted the last one and I think someone else should give it a go.

I suppose I could do this coming Friday (11/06) for the Ficathon. Does that work for you?

Actually I have a couple different people who already want this coming Friday. Would 8/15 work for you? (I know that's a bit of a ways off, but I'm thinking we should leave 7/25 open for now since that's SDCC weekend.)

I love the idea of 32 fanfics from 32 countries. And also the fanart one. Or just non-fanfic recs, that way you can include cosplay and mixtapes and other stuff too. :)

What about fanvids as a thought? I get sucked into those regularly but I always feel weird about just throwing up a rec post (and mostly just never get around to it). Unfortunately, Friday's a bad day for me to host, but it's still a topic thought.

I like the idea of vids, but I don't watch them that much. If Fridays are a bad day for you, you could write up a post and leave it for me or someone else to host discussion, then drop back in when you're ready? People have done that before. How does that sound to you?

Can I do the help with hosting from a mod thing and sign up for the last available date with the topic characterizations we imprinted on? Hopefully better worded by then.

I find it interesting how as fans, we often imprint on a certain characterization of characters and I know I imprinted a particular characterization of Clint and Natasha I wanted to match before I'd start writing them frequently.
