When I first read the prompts, a flood gate of ideas opened up. I figured that was a good thing. Now, though, I'm having trouble organizing and narrowing down those ideas into an interesting and coherent storyline. I'm not panicked. Yet.

A so-rough-it's-gritty first draft is done. And now I'm going back and looking at the prompts ... and looking at the fic ... and looking at the prompts ... and a little bit of doubt is swirling around in my head.

I have two ideas fully fleshed out that fit the prompts and that I'm sure my giftee will enjoy. I still have a hard time writing, even though I have wonderful cheerleaders and writing buddies. Both ideas are longish and I have to have the fic beta'd and and and... Heeeelp?

Hello! After a mild panic in which RL was sucking all the life out of my attempts at fic, I have about 1900 words that are hopefully good words, but don't actually make up a first draft yet. :)

Congrats! A good start can make all the difference.

Was super excited after getting my assignment because I pretty much knew what I wanted to write about right away...and now I'm 600 words in and stuck, and have been for the past week, which is frustrating because I KNOW WHAT I WANT TO WRITE. ARGH. (HOWEVER, thanks to a helpful little hand I am now unstuck, I think, or at least have brainstormed enough to push further!) Last year I think I freaked out and then wrote a lot at once after struggling, so I'm hoping that turns out the same way.

And then of course will come the second guessing. ;)

Started, and stalled. Know (kind of) what I want, but not entirely how to get there without committing an epic.

To add insult to injury, the thing bouncing on the inside of my head and insisting on coming out? One of the prompts from the OTHER exchange I signed up for. The one that isn't due until Dec 28th ... and, I'm getting on a plane on the 6th and would have oodles of time to write that one then!! *headdesk*

Finished (wanted to before stating NaNoWriMo so I didn't have that hanging over me) and just needs to be edited!

Okay, so I have most of it planned out in my head and I'm pretty excited about it. It's certainly not like anything else that I've written for Secret Santa before. But there are a couple of things I'm worried about now - first of all, I'm worried because this is becoming all EPIC (capital letters needed) in my head, and yeah, if I do that, it'll never all get written down (nor should it be longer than 10,000 words, anyway.)

Second, this will require more actiony-action than I usually write, so there's that. Because that's where the biggest challenge against our intrepid heroes comes from, is an outside force, and I usually have it all comin' from inside.

Third, I need to actually, you know, WRITE IT DOWN. In addition to grading about a month's worth of work by MONDAY. Okay, so this doesn't have to be written by Monday. But come on. It's like there's always something. And I'm actually pretty excited about this idea - it incorporates a couple of the requester's prompts together and I think it's pretty cool. But I haven't WRITTEN IT yet.

It'll be okay. It really will. But wow, I feel much better having vented. LOL Okay. *deep breath*!

ALL OF THIS. Especially the EPIC. I may have to rethink this whole thing...

Except no grading for me -- sitting on promotion boards though. I guess that's similar? Not conducive to brain activity in the evening.

Too many ideas, not enough words! I think I need to sit down and write a little of each scenario, then see what will work out best. Sometimes it's harder when you like so many of the prompts; what a terrible problem to have. ;)

3000 words written, about 4/5 of the way done! And I've been there since November 1st, lol. I'm jugging this and my NaNoWriMo project, but I'm shuffling my writing priorities around, and I hope to get this one finished and off to my beta readers by the end of the week. :)

I resent your assignment to the email address you provided. Did you get it?

I got about halfway through my fic and then life got in the way and now I'm stuck. Eeep. My plan is to spend Saturday working on it and hopefully have it finished by thanksgiving.
