But now (after I had lunch with thalassix ) I am excited all around (for the most part). We may be incredibly insanely optimistic, but we suspect things aren't all what they seem. ;) (Hopefully)

oh, I am super-excited. We did a nice frame-by-frame analysis here at the House of Boys, but it didn't really focus on that-thing-that-probably-shouldn't-be-named. Ours mostly centered around a lively discussion about whether the glowy thing in the center of Vision's forehead is an Infinity Stone or not, and if so, which one (for the record, I am in the Yes camp, and am definitely leaning toward the Soul gem.) And then there was the discussion of all the things that didn't make it into this trailer, that had been in previous ones, mostly centered around the possibility of Wakanda and vibranium and Klaw. We had the obligatory "which of all of this do you think is a Scarlet Witch dream" and the "on a scale of one to Winter Soldier trailers, how much misdirection and pay-no-attention-to-the-man-behind-the-curtain shenanigans do you think they're playing on us?" discussions. So, yes, super-excited and selectively blacklisting on tumblr already (but I have literally no patience with people who like to whip themselves into a frenzy over things like this.)

I think a certain scene may be a SW dream. Or something. Possibly. lol

Speaking of which, that shot of her and Natasha...omg. I already love SW and I don't even know her. She is fantastic. I want to see her and Loki do a magic-off.

I could easily lean toward That Scene being a SW-induced action, if not a dream. (At which point my oldest replied (via text, because of course we were having this mad discussion from three different locations) that my shipper/tinfoil hat was looking very jaunty.) I'm totally ready for another shot of canon to throw more craziness into whatever it is that I'm trying to write.

I am clinging to the fact that she kissed Steve Rogers as a cover. #ohmynerves

Oh, yeah, there are so many different things going on in this 'verse, who knows what context anything is happening in.

I was moping and my fellow Clint/Natasha-shipping friend pointed out there are multiple indications of SW-caused dreams/nightmares for many of the Avengers in the trailer. So I'm holding onto that hope. I think Bruce is aching for human contact, that's for sure.

Oh, yes, she can clearly get into your head, so who knows what's real? Between my lovely tinfoil hat and my barge on DeNial River, I'll just be happy over here in my corner of fandom. (This strategy has kept me sane for decades now.)

I'm super excited to see Scarlet Witch. By the looks of it she's going to be quite different to her comic book counterpart, but that's not unusual. I'm always excited to see more female characters!

I am completely with you on this! Apart from I don't actually know what the Scarlet Witch is like in the comics. But yeah! Super excited for her. Partly I think, because she looks so... Straight up powerful. But mostly because fuck yeah more ladies! :D

She is super-powerful in the comics--shades of Dark Phoenix (and about as aggravating of a resolution to that power as with Jean Grey, too, but we will ignore all that until (if) it actually plays out.)

That's about the only think I know about her - that she's super powerful. Something to do with probability? But yeah, that't it. But she'll be different in this anyway so. (also that she was treated badly by writers in... House of M? One of the events. She went mad? Or something. And Clint slept with her and then she turned out to be a Doombot. :P That's the other thing I know)

I'm interested to see how they're working her into the MCU, especially given the licensing restrictions they're working under.

I never even thought of that! The winter soldier trailers that is. I have a friend who really didn't enjoy cap2 first time round because it was so far from what the trailer implied it would be. Oh man, that comment has made my morning. :D -- also yes to SW dreams. I can imagine - and this is entirely speculation - that the-thing-we-are-not-mentioning could very easily be Bruce's SW dream about hurting people he cares about. Or about being manipulated, cos we already know he hates that.

BUT ANYWAY. I need more Clint excellent. Bring on April!

I know--I find it interesting that both Renner and Whedon have said that Hawkeye has a much bigger role in this movie, but then there's nothing much about him in the trailers. Could be a lovely misdirection, yes?

That's my theory. Clint is off somewhere in a different part of the world when everything falls apart, and not considered a threat by Ultron (because arrows...). And then he comes in -- possibly with SW and QS -- and saves the day. Also, possibly, because he's been deafened and is somehow immune to ... whatever knocks out everyone else.

Has to be. People will be more pissed about actors/directors outright lying than trailers outright lying. And anyway, I think misdirection is the name of the game.

My cinema is showing the double feature (A1 & A2 back-to-back) and we couldn't pass it up. It means we have to take a half day off from work, but it's worth it. Tickets are purchased and put away for safekeeping. We will be joined by the same two couples who've been with us for every Marvel opening night since Cap 1. Everybody is very excited. I will have fun, come what may.

I must admit that I go from excited to nervous to questioning Joss' sanity when it comes to "that thing that probably shouldn't be named" and then back to excited. As I've said before about Joss Whedon: he's a brilliant b@st@rd - I love that I hate him and I hate that I love him. No matter what happens, we are in for a wild, wild ride.

We're debating doing the full 24-hour, 11-movie run. It's #2Son's birthday, which could just be the excuse we've been looking for to do something so totally crazy. :D

I have this feeling that on films without Renner, Chris Evans is the goofball and nothing gets done, and then on films with Renner, nothing gets done cos Renner just quietly says something that has everyone in stitches but that can never be talked about in press because it's super rude/inappropriate. So they eventually go back to complaining about Evans and talking about Renner's resting face.

Which is my longwinded way of saying that sometimes I am sad these films are supposed to be reasonably family friendly. :P

Have you seen the twitter exchange between Evans and Renner? I think they're getting ready to do Cap3. Get ready for more pap shots from the Firehouse on 66 Chiltern (if I were you, I'd just hang out there for the duration).
