ATTF: Assassinations and Bad-Assery 101: Teaching and Mentoring
Hello Best of Bars!

First of all, apologies for the late posting.  RL was particularly Wicked this week (150 e-mails by 10 am, anyone...??)

Anyway.  Today's topic is our favourite assassins in a role that we just saw Natasha in at the end of AoU:  teaching others.  Baby Avengers, green SHIELD recruits, female Hawkeyes, Clint's kids, each other ...  Just imagine:

"That's not the the way to kill a 200-pound man.  You have to adjust the amout of poison in the [arrow head][umbrella tip] to body weight..."

"Oh, honey.  Dadddy won't be happy when he sees you holding a knife like that."

"He works with these punk kids, who should really be taught a lesson..."

So.  Let us have your recs (self-recs are welcome!!), three sentence fics (and prompts therefore), head canons, meta ...  And above all:

And as always, here are your ATTF guidelines:

Things to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)
5) There are going to be Age of Ultron spoilers in this post, so if you haven’t seen it yet, probably best to skip it unless you don’t mind getting spoiled!

So when I first watch Avengers, I thought Clint was Natasha's mentor. I suppose he still could be in some way...probably not really in fighting (she probably helped him there), but maybe just how to find balance in life.

I've never really been a Kate Bishop fan (although admittedly, never read her in comics except for quick panels online where she doesn't impress me much, but I do like her in some fanfics that I have read), and thought the whole "2 Hawkeyes" thing was bizarre. However, literally 2 days ago I decided I actually really like the idea of her. At least in the MCU. Clint is 44 with 3 small kids. He isn't going to want to be doing the whole spy/acrobat/sniper thing (or his body won't like it) so much after a certain point. But having an amazing sniper with these fantastic arrows is such an asset to the Avengers. So I actually love the idea of him mentoring a new Hawkeye to take his place, while still having him joining in when necessary. I also really like the idea of him just generally teaching new recruits as well, whether this is for SHIELD or the Avengers.

I loved Steve and Nat with the new Avengers at the and of AoU. I think they would both be great at helping train the others. I really want to see (or see evidence of...or read fics of) Natasha mentoring Wanda specifically. Wanda has magic so her skills are of course way different, but Hawkeye was also able to put that arrow on her head so can certainly see how some physical training would help.

And training the kiddoes! Yes. Self defense for sure.

Not sure MCU Ciint is supposed to be the same age as Jeremy Renner? I think more like mid-to-late thirties. (Hawkguy Clint looks early thirties.) But otherwise, yes, mentoring Kate is absolutely a succession strategy. Not necessarily for old age, but you know ... he's already died at least once in the comics, and as Edna Mode says, "Luck favours the prepared."

I loved that little snippet in AOU on the farm, where Clint is on the porch with Cooper showing him how to fit a new spindle into the railing. So I think he's certainly training him up to be his partner in home improvements, and Lila, too, when she can be torn away from her drawings.

Well on his Tindr profile on Jimmy Fallon it said "Hawkeye age 44" but then they also said he was a virgin so may not be canon. ;)

Those farm scenes were so cute!! Hope we get more on the dvd. I want to see more dad-Clint. And the baby! Can def picture him with a baby carrier on his back instead of the quiver.

I would actually love to learn more about his dedication to work and family. We know he and Natasha never have an extraction plan. Laura says the kids need a dad but also need a world. How conflicted is he? Or is he in a good place?

Oh! I also headcanon that the family practices an emergency escape route (maybe to a bunker?) on a regular basis.

I like the idea that once Natasha felt comfortable enough at SHIELD after coming in with Clint, she set up a couple of different covers that she kept separate from her SHIELD identities. She uses them to volunteer at women's shelters teaching self-defense or maybe dance to the kids there.
