The day of jubilee is almost upon us!
This be the RULES FOR POSTING YO' STUFF TO PROMPTATHON post.

When you can post:
The inital post was made at 2:39 PM EDT last Friday, so at precisely 2:39 P.M. EDT on Friday, July 20th is when you can post your stuff.  EDT means EDT (North Atlantic).  I'll send a reminder post right before to let you know it's time.  Here's a handy dandy time zone converter to figure out when this is happening on an internet near you.

How to post:
1.  Respond in a comment to the prompt you are filling.
2.  Make sure to label your submission in the subject line with the type of fanwork (fic/icon/artwork/vid/fanmix/etc.) + the title.  For example:

"FIC: 5 Times Clint and Natasha Were Awesome Badass Asaassinpeople (and One Time They Were Extra-Awesome), rated: M, no warnings"

When filling in the subject line, you may need to view the comm in it's original style (if you don't already). Just make sure you can see a subject line when responding with your submission.

3. Be sure to leave ratings and warnings (if any) in the subject line. (See example above.)  Help us out and make sure folks know what they're clicking on. Thoughtfulness = LOVE.  <3333  If the ratings or the warnings won't fit in the subject line, just leave them at the top of your post.

4.  Try and post the entire work in the comment (if it's short enough), or if not, post a link. I'm all about one-stop shopping whenever possible, so try and post in the main promptathon post if the length allows.  Also, if it is too long to post in the promptathon post, consider posting the first section as a teaser and then a link (b/c that's alwasy fun too.)  Either way, be sure to label your post in the subject line as described above (**points to rule #2**).

In addition, you can always post directly to the comm, but let's wait a couple of days first. I don't want to get flooded with new posts right out of the gate.  For now, let's try and keep all of the action at the actual promptathon post. You can repost and archive and preserve for posterity's sake to you heart's content, but just not immediately, m'kay?

Remember:
  • A single prompt can be filled by more than one person, so no worries if a prompt you like already has a submission. We are all about moar submissions! The more the merrier!
  • Be sure to wait until it's time to post. Early submissions will be deleted.  (Patience is a virtue, grasshopper.)
  • [livejournal.com profile] lar_laughsis still manning the Declicious site that's organizing all the prompts here which is great for reference.
  • [livejournal.com profile] ashen_key has also created a gorgeous AO3 collection, so if you post over there too, be sure to tag your stuff!  :D

Questions? Comments? Stuff I forgot?  I'm so excited about this, y'all. So excited.

Because of the huge number of prompts can we created a "completed fills" link, where we can read all of the completed works?
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on July 19th, 2012 04:26 pm (UTC)
Yeah totally. I was thinking like a separate post that links all the completeled fills. Is that what you were thinking?

Yessssss I will be home by then :D

Thanks for this post and specifying everything so nicely!

If fics are too long to fit in a single comment box, can we post them as multiple parts one after the other? And if so, is there a rough maximum number of parts before we should consider just posting a link to the fic on our journals instead?
[identity profile] sugar-fey.livejournal.com on July 19th, 2012 06:42 pm (UTC)
My personal preference would be a link to journal if the fic is more than, say, 3 comments long, because after that the comment boxes get consistently smaller and if you have a small monitor like I do it can become very hard to read.
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on July 19th, 2012 08:10 pm (UTC)
Agreed. I'd actually say don't post anything over two parts, but that's just me. I personally love a teaser fo the first section and then have a link at the end to the rest. But however is cool. :D

Awesome, thank you both!

Just a note!

Could everyone note warnings and rating of their work as well, either in subject line or directly underneath it? Just so people don't run into things they don't want to.

y/n?
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on July 19th, 2012 11:22 pm (UTC)
Definitely. I'll add that to the rules in just a sec. Meant to include it from the get-go. Thanks for the reminder! :D

*thumbs up* Awesome. Because, yeah, it'd be little fun if someone got upset or hurt.

Aaaaaaaaaand Be Compromised Promptathons collection is up and ready for business.

Hopefully.

*scratches back of head and peers at it*

It's GORGEOUS-- thank you!!! Going to add a link above right now.

Quick question: Does the author have to post to the collection, or can it be done by someone else?
Ashen Key[personal profile] ashen_key on July 20th, 2012 01:49 am (UTC)
Author, as far as I'm aware - it's one of the form-options on the upload page.
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on July 20th, 2012 01:51 am (UTC)
That's what I remembered too.
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on July 20th, 2012 01:37 am (UTC)
Done! See what you think. :)

I have a question! I just found this promptathon thing last night since I'm not on LJ anymore, and I have... 19 prompts I'm interested in doing ahhhh. Everyone has so many awesome ideas.

But I'm a little curious about one of the things on the rules:

Prompts will be accepted starting today, Friday, July 13th (!!!) and will remain open until Friday, August 10th. Submissions may be submitted beginning on Friday, July 20th and may continue to be submitted until August 10th.

I understand closing prompts, but are you closing submissions on August 10th? I don't really understand the idea of closing them at all, especially not on the same day that the prompts close! What if someone submitted an amazing prompt on August 10th and then no one got to fill it because no more fills were being accepted by the time anyone noticed it? Why are there seven extra days of prompting but zero extra days of ficcing? I guess I just want to make sure this isn't a typo / maybe convince you to change your mind here.

I obviously love the idea and look forward to stalking/reading/hopefully participating if I can just spare up a slot in the things I'm already writing, sob.
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on July 22nd, 2012 02:34 am (UTC)
Ha- total logic fail there. We'll probably just expand the time for submissions, although I don't want to leave it open forever, maybe another week or two? And yeah, there's no hard and fast rule about not being able to fill something after the promptathon has technically closed. From a mod perspective, I just want an end date in sight (because I really do need to sleep at some point, lol).

But short answer, it's totally negotiable. And we are some pretty laid back folks when it comes to rules so we can definitely work it out. :)

I'm glad you found us though, and I'm so glad you're excited about the prompts! They are fantastic, and the submissions we've gotten so far have been amazing! Woo!

So, I just just posted a little piece a couple days ago on AO3 that it turns out fills one of the prompts here pretty well - can I include that or not? :)
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on July 22nd, 2012 01:26 am (UTC)
I don't see why not-- go for it! I think since it was so recent it can count towards promptathon. :)
[identity profile] cybermathwitch.livejournal.com on July 22nd, 2012 01:40 am (UTC)
Awesome! Thanks!
[identity profile] cybermathwitch.livejournal.com on July 22nd, 2012 02:14 am (UTC)
Ok, I just posted, but it says it marked it spam?
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on July 22nd, 2012 02:16 am (UTC)
I think I just unmarked it. Can you check for me?
[identity profile] nessataleweaver.livejournal.com on July 27th, 2012 03:28 pm (UTC)
Can I second the suggestion about extending the time for filling prompts?

I think we should definitely close prompt submissions on august 10, but can't we extend fills til, say the end of August? There's SO many prompts, we're not going to get a really good chance to respond to them

Also, I have two weeks holiday in August. So I can fill lots of prompts then. *g*
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on July 29th, 2012 04:58 pm (UTC)
I'm planning to do another poll soon to address these types of issues, but that sounds like a good idea to me. :)
[identity profile] cybermathwitch.livejournal.com on July 29th, 2012 08:12 pm (UTC)
Question about a fill that hits multiple prompts - do we post a link to the fill under each prompt? So that if the prompter (or anyone else, for that matter) is tracking that thread they'll see it?

(This is relevant to me in at least two three different instances, this prompt-a-thon is eating my brain like you would not believe.
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com on July 29th, 2012 08:58 pm (UTC)
I'd pick one prompt to post the actual fic to, and then post links in the other threads. That's what I've seen others do, and that's what I've done. Does that help?
[identity profile] cybermathwitch.livejournal.com on July 29th, 2012 10:12 pm (UTC)
It does. They'll probably all be long enough that I'll put them up at AO3 and link on all of them, anyway, but I'll definitely do that if they're short enough to post in the comments. :D Thanks!
